I am trying to follow this, however, Affinity Designer 2 doesn't have the passthrough option in Layers and I have not been able to find what the equivalent is.

Unfortunately pressing shift and grabbing lines in affinity now just adds a new node. I cannot get the join curve option to enable no matter what I do.

Too bad Affinity can't get the displacement filter working like Photoshop. Affinity needs to really clean up the app. -- Adobe is forcing people Affinity's way, yet the app is still lacking. Come on guys! Subscribed.

Thank you for showing how to create the texture overlays themselves. Most tutorials only show how to put them in the program and use them, not create them. Great video!

I like the way you teach . enlarging the movements helps me see better where you are pointing. The Affinity tools are very small and I have to use a magnifer to see the tools. Sometimes I use my phone camera app to help me see. Thank you

Turns out, that wrench menu even in 2022 is the only way to select and cut something. With my apple pencil and no gesture, neither the copy/paste menu nor the quick menu will come up after I’ve made a selection: only the wrench menu seems to be accessible with a selection active.

V2 is a major disappointment. Compared to Adobe products, this update isn’t even evolutionary … even when accounting for the price. Serif needs to IMMEDIATELY set out a roadmap of updates with tools that at least get within the ballpark of Adobe or Affinity will rapidly become irrelevant and likely close up shop. IMO, v2 is an insult

I don't get it. You tell us about all this great stuff. But you don't show anything about how you do what you say you're doing. So it's like magic! Good for you.

So my biggest need was the shape builder. The next was auto trace, which didn’t happen. I’d be curious to know what features you would like added?

Funny, before I saw a comment below, I was going to say you should do instructional courses. You get it. Not many have the ability to clearly articulate the “why” of doing something. I do a lot of mock-ups for marketing purposes and I wish they would have streamlined the displacement feature. Maybe instead of spending the time to create an additinal file to load, they would simply prompt you to make the black and white adjustments when you click on the tool. My main hope is they introduce some sort of AI functionality to help with speeding up workflows. Even if they have to make them pay option add-ons… I’d be willing to pay for that.

This company is no different from Adobe. They fool people with beautiful platitudes, encourage people to buy theirs soft and then boom, every two years or so, we will have to buy new software. Yes, they don't charge a monthly fee, but they will charge for new updates!!! This is an even worse scam than those of Adobe. To tell you the truth, I feel screwed by this company. In 2021 I bought the whole package for MacOs and Windows + most of the add-ons from their store, because I WANTED to show them my support, BUT THEY showed me the middle finger. My version of the software, will no longer be developed and updated, I have to buy a "new" software package. WTF! This "new" version don't have any revolutionary changes!! A simple update of the old version would be just as good. Affinity = Scammers. Influencers by promoting this soft got "new"Affinity version for free! Old custommers like me have to buy this shity soft again. nice

Would the displacement map work better if you cranked the bricks to black, leaving white cement, rather than greyscale?

Its a good thing that they kept details of this update secret until the release. If I had of know the level of the update I wouldn't have bought it.

Thank for your inpunt. That's not an upgrade, but a minor (expensive) update! My next (payed) upgrade for Affinity Photo has to include AI.

I agree with Demirel - until proven I need the new features, I stay with my various versions of 1.x! But if you're still an Adobe slave, get on board - Affinity products rock!
