Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming (arr. Brian Blume)
performed by Brian Blume
filmed by Tim Perry
edited by Brian Blume
recorded at Portico Church Arlington in Arlington, Virginia
Music arranged by Brian Blume. Sheet music available at www.tapspace.com/books-education/winterludes
A simple, yet beautiful hymn, "Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming" tells of Jesus's birth and how his coming fulfilled many prophecies, offering salvation and freedom to those who believe. I chose to maintain this simple and reverent beauty in my arrangement, which includes moments of celebration and moments of reflection.

Muy buena versión!!! Felicidades
Thank you for caring about Japan. This performance is fabulous. 13 years have passed since that day. But, the earthquake and tsunami left us with huge scars. There are still many people who cannot return to their hometowns due to the effects of the nuclear power plant accident, and some who do not want to remember what happened then. However, as long as we live in Japan, we must continue to confront natural disasters. In disasters, there is not only something to lose, but also something to gain. It is important not only to grieve, but also to think about what to do from now on and how to prevent the same tragedy from happening again. And, it is also important that the events of this disaster are not forgotten. Various efforts are already underway in Japan to preserve the memory of the earthquake. Everyone reading this comment, please don't forget about this disaster. from Japan🇯🇵
Your marimba is out of tune. Mallets are too too hard

This year I’m a freshman and this is my solo
@JDRMusicOfficial yo whats up bro
All of the above.
I love this solo I'll be plahing it at districts this fall
Learning this now. 23 years old started at 16. But this is still proving a challenge. It’s a beautiful piece and fits right in with my recital theme
Recital is almost here! Watching again to make sure I’m capturing everything in the piece. The only thing I do differently is at letter B I do 1-3-2-3 instead of 1-3-2-4
And the musical expression is slightly different but that’s to be expected
beautiful
A near perfect interpretation of what I wrote. Saluting you, Brian Blume.
🙏🏻Thank you, Chip! Such a cool piece that draws together the orchestral and marching worlds of snare drumming-an endeavor I also enjoy. I must also credit my then-teacher, Kevin Bobo, for his guidance in my preparation of this piece (and for letting me borrow his drum!).
Well done. Cool piece. Great execution
How gorgeous it sounds. I can't tell you how great it is. I won't hide it - at the first listening, I cried how tragic the story of this work is. I don't know how long it will take me to compose something like this, but one thing I know for sure - next year I will definitely play it!
❤ TOLL 😮
This was well over a year ago at this point, but you were a judge at one of my indoor percussion competitions. Wish I had the chance to say hi. I was coming back to reminisce on band memories as I graduated and am now an engineering major at Purdue. I went to Bremen high school if you remember that. We played valley of Nepal and strawberry blonde
I am playing this song on this Friday, for a concert, such a nice piece, but hard😅
Awesome! Thanks for playing, and I hope it goes great!
Now that I'm in college and my college doesn't have a marching front ensemble, this kinda makes me miss playing on mallet percussion

Playing this at state solo ensemble this weekend, wish me luck lol
Good luck! 😁
@@briancblume update over a year later, I got a gold with a perfect score
Suenan increíble, ojalá puedan compartir las partituras
🥲🥺👏
Schön.
What kind of mallets are you using? I’m playing this solo for my bluecoats audition, so beautiful.
Thanks! The mallets in the video are the old Zivkovic mallets from IP. That series became the Artisan series, and I think what I used is the equivalent to the IP5003 (not totally sure). Good luck on the audition!
Wow, that was fantastic!
Thanks! Definitely a fun piece to play. :-)
@@briancblume I saw Kevin Bobo play it years ago (he was my first marimba teacher), and it's been in the back of my mind since. Just ordered it 😎
Edggyedggukrf Quem atrasa minhas bosta?
This is still the best version I’ve seen on CZcams. The other 4 players as well really make this one from the smooth transition from 4 handed mallet switch to the correct bingo hits to everyone’s solo. Just incredible
Wow, thank you! I was fortunate to be surrounded by great players at Indiana University, and of course, we had outstanding teachers. Thanks for watching!
I love the expression you have in this piece!
Why isn't this piece better known? It's awesome. Thanks for posting, guys...great performance!
Thank you! It is a brilliant piece, I agree. Of course, you can always help us make it better known by sharing. :-)
Beautiful! My percussion ensemble broke this specific arrangement apart and played it across a number of mallet instruments my freshman year of college. I love this piece!
I really need to get Daughtrey’s Yuletide marimba book. What a fun piece.
Xd
Beautiful and underrated arrangement! I have the book that I bought two years ago and am just now looking at the missing treasure I have been holding in my library! Thank you for your work!
Thank you so much, Jared! I hope the time you spend with the piece is enjoyable and meaningful. :-)
My high school band has asked the whole percussion section to learn and play a marimba solo and I chose this song to play. Wish me luck!
Awesome. Good luck!
Well I went and did the solo today and got a pretty decent rating of a 2 (We rate our performances from 1 to 5, 5 being "Needs a lot more work" to 1 being an excellent performance). My only trouble with this solo was some of the permutations but other wise the judges said I did a great performance. Thank you for your support and keep doing you!
Gorgeous!
Wow, I only recently learned of this piece, by getting Koshinski's poerformance in my feed. I figured I would never hear it interpreted again, on account of it being his own set of wind chimes, etc. But you guys did it, and this is a great execution.
That's really awesome!
U can tell what kind of marimba this is without even seeing the color of the wood lol
Wonderful playing by the way!
Did you guys use a click for this? I've played it 4-5 times without one, it's hard as hell.
Yes, sir. We did use a click. And thanks for the compliment!
I almost started applauding alone in my house. This is fantastic!
Very thought provoking writing; well designed, very musical, very much a representation of your inner self Brian. Many blessings to you!!!! Jim Whitfill
jim edward I appreciate the comments, Jim! That means a lot.
Thank you Brian! I realize this was a few years back and I can only wish that you are still contributing to the world of percussion with such fine performances! Best of Wishes. Jim Whitfill
Musical Geniuses 🤯 Great Great Job!
Thank you! Though I have to say, Kevin Bobo (the composer) is the real genius. Thanks for watching!
yeah ok
amazing
Are you a shadow chaser or shadow catcher?
Such beautiful playing!!! Thank you ❤
