This will forever remind me of my first few days in Seattle. I got hypothermia, and was taken to a homeless facility after a few days I don't quite remember. I forgot my utility knife at the hospital, and it was an entire day of driving around with an awesome black dude who was blasting R&B from the crappy van assigned to him to drive us around for our errands. We helped a chick with a dog move, and dropped another one off across town. He was very nice to me even though he'd obviously been around the block a few times. By then, they've either found a reason to be kind, or embraced the chip on their shoulder as evidence of the futility of life.
