    Hey mate. I watched your wheel balancing video last night and it slightly raised my eyebrows because I fitted new Motoz tyres to my 2021 Euro4 Himmy a couple of weeks ago. I too balance both wheels with an identical static balancer. In my case Definitely balance the wheel without the cushdrive/sprocket assy in place. I have the same fixed bearing in the cushdrive plus the typical two roller bearings separated by a tube spacer in the main wheel. I achieved a perfect balance with cushdrive assy removed.

    I’ve seen this tacitly debated in a bunch of Toyota HG videos(guy doing the repair debating with himself). Gasket Masters doesn’t do it with Felpro HGs. The Car Care Nut has done them without it too(and he always uses OEM HGs). I can’t see how it’d hurt so I’m going to do it on mine when it blows. Thanks.

    Great video my friend. I just got done riding my Himalayan on the MABDR. I ran into some alignment issues after tightening the chain. I like the tool you're using. I think I'm going to get one. Question, when I set my chain to the 25 setting and drop the bike back off the service stand it feels so tight but I guess that's normal right?

  • @mickb784

    Good video, well explained and good close ups showing exactly what is required. The problem I have is that after following this approach using rhe same chain alignment tool the adjustment marks are well off. The disc side is a full mark and a quarter furrher back than the chain side. Can the alignment marks really be that far out. Do I ignore the marks and trust rhe chain alignment tool?

    • @Johnnyjsgarage
      @Johnnyjsgarage Před 3 měsíci

      I'd trust the tool if the marks are that far out. If this was a Japanese bike, I'd be dubious but the tool can't lie. If you wanted to REALLY be sure, you could get a laser alignment tool which is even better than the tool I use.

      I would also say, the tube isnt in any danger putting on the first bead because it is protected by the tire. Rubber is between it and the spoon. It is the second bead that directly exposes the tube, where one must be careful. The advantage, though, is the stem is already seated. Just another way of doing it and useful for riders who dont have the dexterity to get the stem lined up doing it the other way.

    With the bracket installed the angle with the header pipe was still ok so it would seal? I have a problem with my pipe being too close to the stock RE panniers and when I tried to adjust it away from my pannier, the lower front corner of the header contacted the bolt next to it on the frame. I'm hoping this might help with my problem. The pannier got so hot it melted the plastic corner on the pannier, and it also rubbed a spot on the metal and pipe.

    • @Johnnyjsgarage
      @Johnnyjsgarage Před 6 měsíci

      Terry - it will seal just fine. Just loosen the clamp, remove the upper bolt as I do in the video, and let it sag. Then install your bracket. The angle change at the clamp is tiny but the end result is big at the tailpipe.

    • @terrycavender
      @terrycavender Před 6 měsíci

      @@Johnnyjsgarage yes, I understand about the change being small and big at the other end. That's the problem with my pipe to begin with, the bracket was welded on wrong, changing the angle slightly, and pointing the tip directly at my pannier. I'm in Mexico right now, so getting a warranty repair is impossible. ( trust me, I've tried) I am going to hit up a muffler shop here to see if I can just heat and bend the bracket, or, failing that, fab up a bracket extension like yours. The handguards "touch" the windscreen at full lock...like they barely brush it. Not enough to crack it in a crash - it would flex.

  • @karandikarvaibhav
    @karandikarvaibhav Před 6 měsíci

    I don't want to ruin your man cave time ... Let's start from basic energy cannot be created or destroyed it can only change state ..... The royal Enfield hand guards job is to protect hands without damaging your handlebar. The product you are showing 2 point contact 100 percent sure it's no movement in x axis and z axis impact force will transfer from hand guard to handlebar.... and handlebar will bend ...and I am sure it's 🎉 ride with bent handlebar..... Fii the same reason clutch lever has a v notch or pilot hole on it . On time of impact it will brake from notch and not functionally damaging it...

    • @Johnnyjsgarage
      @Johnnyjsgarage Před 6 měsíci

      Thanks for the comment and discussion. No worries ! The only person who could ruin my man cave time is a guy showing up with a letter from the IRS. As for the physics lesson - no arguments: I agree a 2 point hanguard, in a crash with sufficient force, will indeed bend at the point of force transfer - in this case, where the second point of contact is. That may bend a handlebar, which might need to be bent back to make the bike rideable. I make absolutely no apologies for the stance that I want the bike to get damaged before me in the event of a crash. My bike is a tool, expendable in the pursuit of off-road camping. This is why if you examine Yamaha, KTM, BMW, and Honda adv bikes - their OEM handguards are all 2 points of contact - protect the rider. Handlebars can be replaced for a few hundred dollars. Significant hand injuries can require multiple surgeries just to get back to "normal." A friend of mine experienced this taking his dirtbike out the same day he bought it, but with no handguards at all. Would handguards have guaranteed his hand was saved? No one can tell for sure, but it's a numbers game and serious companies/off road adv enthusiasts all use 2 points of contact guards. In fact, I can't think of and brands of ADV/Off Road hand guard, made by aftermarket companies, that are single point contact. RE stands alone here, and it's worth noting went to 2 points of contact on the new 2024 Himalayan 450 OEM guards. If the handguards bending out of the way, to not damage the handlebars, is a "feature" of the Himalayan 411 - it is a feature I do not want. As I will state in all my videos - to each their own. Use your own bike as you wish, and I hope it brings you happiness. Cheers!

    @regorohan Před 6 měsíci

    One point Handguards do NOT protect your hands in case of a fall. these are only for wind protection and Debrie from the front bike. 2point handusrds like Barkbusters , protect the levers in case of a crash, but not protection for hands. best option is not to fall.

    • @Johnnyjsgarage
      @Johnnyjsgarage Před 6 měsíci

      Totally true....but not according to Royal Enfield. From the 2022 accessory catalogue, page 63: "Ride through any terrain with confidence robust injection molded handguard kit. It provides cover for the levers in case of a fall..." While they do not say hands, they say fall quite clearly. Imo it's dangerous to customers, especially new riders buying their first bike, to see this wording and order accessories. It is no surprise RE went to 2 point contact guards with the 450.
