I hope they work but there is another problem that is goats. Goats eat everything so if there are less goats or better no goats the nature wil restore itself goats eat al the young plants so nothing wil grow
They need a series of sand dam 3 or 4 along the river for better results n retain more water.
That Black man in Africa speaks better English then his relatives in Chicago hood.
In addition to sand dams , if you can dug up small or large areas of land to create lakes or ponds , every farm land will have a storage of water . The depth of 5-8 feet will store up plenty of water for the next crop . Or make large lakes which can hold millions of water . Or make narrow canals of 3 - 5 feet canals of 5 feet depth and 505 or more feet long along the land . Make walls across the canal one foot below the ground level so that excess rain water can flow into the next chamber of the canal . Thus water will not over flow on to the surrounding land area and destroy the crop . Or we can make hundreds of one foot deep x 6 foot long trenches all over the land . How much water all these hundreds of trenches will collect and they will percolate into the ground during every rain !!!!! One heavy rain brings millions of liters of water . How much can you collect ??????!!!!!! Then less water to be pumped from the dam or lake !!!!! ' Save that electricity also !!! When water percolates , even 5 - 6 feet deep soil will be damp and moist for cultivation .
So impressive!! Your community is willing to do whatever it takes to live a better life. Your immense efforts are truly humbling and I bow down on my knees in front of you all. We have so much water in Canada that it's completely disgraceful how we take it for granted and expect it to flow from our taps as a constitutional right. We can learn much from your people, starting with humility and gratitude. Blessed Be every one of your Spirits for all eternity.

East Pokot is one of the hardest places, probably on earth, to champion girl child empowerment and Rights. There are layers of traditions and cultural limitations placed on the path to ensure girls remain wives and domestic workers. Harmful traditions practices like female genital mutilation, forced and arranged teenage marriages. Sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) is also prone and widespread. The resourcefulness of the few Pokot girls who attended formal education is a justification that education can transform a nation from the household level. Pokots and other Kenyan communities must recognize the immense contribution that a girl child can provide if educated.

We love our Indian friends. I have personally been following several environmental conservations and climate change mitigations.
One question. Why is the height of the sand dam so low? They could have built it higher by 2 -4 feet more. Would have been able to retain more water. SMH
We have provided some of the engineering reasons above. The balance is always water retention and the risk of flooding and human or crop loss. But we have done instead to realize enough water supply, is that we have constructed 7 sand dams back to back instead of one. The sand dams are located few meters to a kilometer between each other.

The dam project sounds wonderful. I wonder where they got the idea that a god helps anything?
Great question, ah! Would you wish us to do video interview on this? I guess we won't know until we do a Q&A?
@@HifadhiAfrica Only if you bring god in to question.
@@quercus417 that mentality is a "thing" in most African societies. We are apparently that religious - not necessarily Christian.
@@HifadhiAfrica Does that mean "not an Abrahamic religion" or just not christian?
@@quercus417 Haha! no one really knows.
V.Good go ahead.
With all the stones on the ground, they could be creating rock swales to slow the rain water when it comes and generate more plant growth while recharging ground water in the area. With the addition of a local farm pond below the swales, several huts and perhaps the school could have access to water year round.
Here is the link for stone lines czcams.com/video/dO16g4LgBjI/video.html
@@leelindsay5618 thank you for this new knowledge. It seems sand dam acts similarly to stone lines. The only difference is that sand dam is constructed within a river bedrock. We are taking stone lines into consideration.
At least these people should boil the water to kill 🧫 bacteria, 🦠 and filter the water before just drinking it. They Don’t think about

Could we please see a followup on the dam, did it work, are the benefits being seen?

Hifadhi Africa, you are an oasis of hope to these communities. Keep up the good work. God shower his providence on you!
Thank you Prof., for your support always.
Thank you, madam. Thank you.
Look to me like that sand dam need to be at least a foot or two higher in height... for better n more water retaining.
Maybe the local circumstances didn’t allow for that
Some sand dams are suprisingly really low. That doesn't mean they aren't as effective. Though it isn't apparent from video, it is still possible that the area in which sand will be collecting won't be very high, but might be very long, having same effect as higher dams would. With less effort. Sure higher dam sounds better on paper, but not so much when you have to build it by hands.
There are few factors that determine the height of any given sand dam, including the ability of the river banks to support water force. -River Banks Strength analyses: Strength of the river banks to support sand dam wings. -Geographic nature of River bed: Ability of the water to collect and retain water by sampling soil texture. -Nature of river flow: Vibrancy of the river when flowing to determine erosion rate and Erosion patterns among other destruction to ecology. Interviews from local elders to determine if a river flows at extreme speed.
Can you help those questions please!?
Sorry that we did not respond to this on time. We shall improve going forward.
