Modern roundhouse and 130' turntable from Walthers: Tracklaying
This is episode 2 of the build of the 3-stall modern roundhouse (H0) from Walthers (kit 933-2900) and the 130’ turntable, also from Walthers. This is a massive build with 33 stalls making it 330 degrees. This takes a lot of extra planning as you will see but it will be worth it.
In this episode I prepare the tracks before they are painted and put in. I will show you a way of doing it so you do not have to raise the turntable pit for a smooth transfer between the bridge and the roundhouse tracks.

Building the Walthers roundhouse and using the 130' turntable.
zhlédnutí 940Před 2 lety
This is the first episode of building a huge diorama of the Walthers roundhouse with 130' turntable. The diameter is around 160 cm, 5 feet and it will be built, painted and have interior lighting installed as I progress. This is the first in a series since this is a large building to complete. I will later ad the rest of what is needed on this engine service facility. I would love to hear from ...
How to paint a tabletop world house to a battle ready standard
zhlédnutí 169Před 3 lety
This is the first part in a series where I paint a Tabletop world cottage, in this part I make it ready for battle on the tabletop. In the following episodes I will install windows and lights, put in on a base and detail it and make a proper diorama. So to be sure to subscribe so that you do not miss the next episode.
Old classic GW flock vs new flock from Javis

How to speed paint battle damaged Rubric marines with gold trim in less than ten minutes.
zhlédnutí 1,4KPřed 4 lety
Everyone loves the rubrics, but most people hate painting the trim. This is my answer to that. Speed painted in less then ten minutes (not including drying times) with there bases done it's an option for those who want to play with their models rather then dreaming about that "magic day" when they suddenly where all painted. How to paint and prepare a classic Herohammer lizardmen Kroxigor.
zhlédnutí 839Před 4 lety
In this video I prepare and paint a classic kroxigor miniature from the Herohammer/middlehammer age of warhammer. The style is classic but done mostly with modern Citadel colours making it easy for new and old to follow. Please let me know in the comments below what I should paint next? A stegadon in the same colours? A Hero or perhaps something completely different?
So, what happened? You had a really good tutorial going and it was very helpful and then nothing for over a year. Do you plan to continue the series?
wow... i wonder if you can paint the RED DRAGON ? ;) very nice and im very impressed indeed ;)
Do you have any recommendations for the Wardroth Beetle that comes with the kit? I was tempted to try converting it into a Vortex Beast, but Im not sure how well it would adapt to a 90mm oval base 🤔
I did just that. I built up the base so that it would fit on it. I then put the vortex beast thing on the back of the beetle and painted it in my TS colour scheme.
I was thinking that, awesome to know it can work! This has been a huge inspiration
Thank you very much! Yes it works but there will be overhang. But the base size will be correct. 🙂
@@magnushobbychannel4652 Awesome! I'm using it for a casual narrative set of games with friends so it's the perfect piece for it. I figure using some rocks and putty I can make a slope on the base and build it upwards at an angle to work with the footprint. I have some old dreadnought pieces so I'm thinking of having an impaled nought on a preening victorious Warp Beetle
@@Ozziethecat , that is the way I like it as well. I 3D-printed some steel grids and placed them underneath in a slope as you describe. That way an enemy can be in contact if one wants to.
I'll explain a "Day" (I'm the same way). A Day is more so a task that can be anywhere from 7, 16 or 20 hours. It all depends on what happens during the install. In most cases we will add some kind of detail that extend time to the task but we don't care as the detail is more important than the time. Therefore our day can be your week........So a "Day" is what we hope for but we know it won't happen. Don't pay attention to what's being said but more on what you see being built. The organization of the parts shows that took a number of days to do.
Approximately how wide is your table? Trying to get a good idea for the size of this roundhouse and determine if I can do something similar in the space I have!
The table is 170 cm wide. That leaves a bit of room on both sides. On one of the sides I have enough for two tracks. As you can see the longer stalls are placed to make width as small as possible.
@@magnushobbychannel4652 Much appreciated! Thank you!
Let me know if you got any other questions. 🙂
Lovely work my friend
Thank you very much. 🙂
I think your "day" estimate isn't realistic. I suspect even the quick and dirty would take a quite some time. I'm looking forward to the project being complete. What location are you modeling? the D&RGW modelers group had an excellent article on the Minturn protype in their last issue.
Yeah a day i probably optimistic but I think I could do it actually, then again, I live in Northern SWeden so right now the days is roughly 20 hours long. :) Almost all the pieces are cut, cleaned and primed in the colour they will have on the layout and even a kit this size contains quite few pieces. It is mostly a large empty shell. I have spent perhaps 50-100 hours preparing the build and there is where the most time is spent. That said, and you might be right and that is not what I'm going for. Plan is to ad details such as workbenches, tools, debris and so on. And ofcourse lights. Just the lights will take days to do. I will check out that article. My plan is to use the B&O as inspiration but not a specific prototype roundhouse. I hope you will follow along and see how it turns out. :)
@@magnushobbychannel4652 oh, gaming the day length??? that is an interesting approach. I'm so looking forward to seeing this project complete. will it be a static display or part of an operating railroad?
@@bobfinkenbiner2539 Haha, well you can not blame me for trying. :) Just be glad I did not say it in june because then the sun never truly set around here. :) It will be a part of an operating railroad. Although it will mostly be a diorama since I rarely run trains. But it 's important that it is a 100% functioning while the visual looks are more important then operating possibilities. This roundhouse just is not a practical thing. :) This is the centerpiece and everything is planned around it. It will be a part of an engine terminal and attached to it there will be a 10 fot or there abouts passenger train shed. I hope I can make decent progress and film it. I plan to start track work today.
I like the technique! In the video you say you use Akhelian Green but the video shows Talassar Blue, which works better?
Sorry for the very late response. You are right. I accidently named the wrong colour! Thanks for pointing it out!
I hope you're well Magnus. I'd love to see the next part of the cottage project.
Hi, I'm fine, I have just been very busy at work. I will start work on the follow up video soon. Thanks for the encouragment. 😊
this give me ideas, thanks.
Thanks for the comment! Glad to help!
That technique looks great :)
Thanks for your encouraging words. It works really great with speed in mind.
Great work! What would be really helpful would be a list of the paints you used so we know what to buy if we want to try this ourselves. Could you post that in the description?
Thanks and great advice, I will do that as soon as possible!
Hey what did you use for her head? I couldn't find one like that on Games workshop's website
Hi, I used a regular Tzaangor head that I cut the face of, I then cut away some of Alarielles face and put it on. :) It's really easy.
@@magnushobbychannel4652 awesome! Thanks so much!
@@RevelationsMG , thanks for watching and commenting. Very much appreciated!
Off to a good start Magnus! I would agree that Tabletop World makes some amazing medieval style buildings. I would love to get some at some point. Thanks for the tutorial.
Thanks Dan! Yes they are lovely. The best houses available by a longshot in my opinion.
Thank you for a great video :) Keep them coming, please.
Thanks for the encouragement! Will do! Will have to do some LOTR rings now as well I guess. 😀
@@magnushobbychannel4652 I think you have allready started with lotr-content. This house is perfect for Bree :)
@@Crodocan That is true. Well stayed tuned since I will be doing a lot more in the future. :)

Great video! Nice work on the models. Your videos are very motivational. Looking forward to more Lizardmen as well as seeing how you get along with the Bretonnians. Take care.
Thank you very much for the encouraging words! I'm working on my first brettonia video right now and you have inspired me to do a little narrative video about the army as it grows. Take care.
Wow i feel stupid when i didnt know that with the base. But thank you for learning me something new :)
Haha, well that is how it is, what is obvious for someone is new to someone else! Thanks for the view and the comment. :)
Excellent tutorial! I love how you stuck with the classic painting style. Love the final result!! This video will offer inspiration for when I start my 5th edition Lizardmen :) I look forward to more Lizardmen videos. Keep up the great work Sir!
Thank you very much for those kind words! I put up a vote in the Herohammer facebook group and the vote was for more saurus warriors. So I will either do three different ones and see which comes out best or continue this paint scheme. Your words will spur me on to make more content! Thanks again!
I want to see speed painting of Zone Mortalis. I do not know what to do ... do you have any good suggestions. I do not want to go on forever with details.
I can do that. I will set up a board and paint them so they look nice to play on when you stand at the table, yet doesn't take forever to do!
Please do grandfather Nurgles chosen, Typhus!
I don't think I got it him at home. What would you say about Nurgles favorite GLOTKIN instead?
Next... I vote for Lord Kroak!
That is an excellent suggestion!
