Houdini Use TOPs To Wedge Change of Animation And Export Each Wedge To Single Alembic Cache File

I provide both setup of using TOPs network, the standard method of using chain of rop fetch, wedge. Then I have the second solution of using Lab File Cache which more simpler and directly to what it needed
By nature, alembic save animation into single file, not sequence of files, this setup help procedural store each work item into a batch of frames and save into single alembic each wedge.

      I have not kept the file anymore, however in NUKE the usual workflow with Arnold render for z-depth will need you copy channel forward u and v into layer motion, then on Vector Blur at uv channel use forward channel

    interesting but looks like something got messed up to create that odd lip also the flow gradiend isn't exactly perfect and is generaly more complex on large whirlpools due to the interaction of several curents whith varying flow speeds creating a relatively chaotic enviroment

    This is soo awesome, I was playing around with this and I honestly really had a hard time making flip sim stick with the deforming ocean surface like they are doing for your sims, when I was using a huge wave the water kept gushing down rather than adhering to the surface, is there any tips or tricks you can give :) ?

      Creating stormy ocean scenes is possible, but SOP FLIP can be slow due to unnecessary components. I recommend using DOP for this. What specific aspects of storm oceans are you interested in?

    it looks kind of strange that such type of ripples appear on the surface without any reason. It would be way more realistic if you put some rock and make ripples appear around the rock like it happens in reality. I've checked the link wit the work you refer to, the only good looking example there is the waves generated with a ship. The ret ripples and especially wave propagation and wave generation looks very bad. I would probably go with FDTD method for surface ripples in UV space (as we work on ocean/sea surfaces that cam be presented as a 2d plane actually) I used this method for computer simulations of EM waves propagating in Earth crust some years ago. The result actually looked the same as any 2d waves. like ripples on water surface. Yeah, there should be some adjustment done, but the result will be way more realistic that the one presented in the link. In work from 2020, their water surface looks more like some fabric like silk or something lighter. I'm a bit disappointed that most recent scientific publications are accepted for publishing without any verification of all that fancy mathematical models. That particular guys could have easily provided real footage of real water and compared it with simulated one. They didn't...

      I work on the spectra to atempt technical approach first, so the base has no physic dynamic - that's why there is no collision splash effects as you mention. I am still working on it as long as I can understand any part of the paper. Another method is create wave turbulence on water surface which you can visit this link, a super smart person has done an inspired work few years ago from another paper vimeo.com/664389526 Some senior FX TD share that ILM London also apply this for their work.

After this Wave Curve which used in calm water by Weta FX in Avatar 2 is cool, my version is just kidding stuff to that movie, however I love what I progress so far. I will visit the surface turbulence after this if possible. Great challenge

      it is Vu is showing a workflow, a way to simulate it, but not rendering it, you can see the boat model is not the same as in the video, and there are tiny details in the video's mist that are very difficult to replicate in the smoke sim he used.

I noticed that you don's show the inside of your point VOP and was just wondering what's happening inside there ? Any help would be great !

      I guess it just an add velocity from input 2 to input 1 as it is showing that velocity transfer. You can use Attribute Transfer to process that as well. Hope it helps
