Here's some footage from Ferensway Garage, Hull in 1996. Sadly, both MCW Metrobus LAT 515V and Ferensway Garage are now long gone!

KHCT MCW Metrobus SAG 528W pulling into Hull Bus Station back in Feb 1997. The Metrobuses were all withdrawn by Stagecoach shortly after and the bus station has now been totally redeveloped into a new "transport interchange." Happy memories!

F310XOF former TWM MCW Metrobus, now with Veolia, Lincoln, filmed in March 2007, reversing into the depot's yard. (improved quality version)

This video was taken in about 1996 when KHCT (or Stagecoach Hull) still had most of their Metrobuses. We borrowed it to do some filming, hence the lack of passengers!

Now with Veolia, Lincoln, ex TWM MCW Metrobus is reversing (sometimes reluctantly) into the depot's yard. Maybe it was enjoying the attention of the camera!
Hull must have been rough in the 90's if their buses had assault screens fitted as in Birmingham and London.....
Like MCW Metrobus comment Borismaster
I love MCW Metrobus 😍
Forgot how big the steering wheel was on a metro compared to the Volvo VH and MVs I now drive on the 328
The whole batch pretty much became opentop buses with Ensigns London Pride fleet, I think only one kept it's roof.
That'd probably be SAG 520W then. Lucky save.
Is this a Voith DIWA 851.2 ? coz I heard the retarder still not off near it stops
i remember riding on this old girl when i was a kid, from sutton park to station. fond fond memories of this, and the atlanteans. thankyou soo much for the memories.
does anyone know what happeded to LAT 511 V ?
Scrapped
You cannot beat a Voith screaming gearbox
there a few still parked up at george street lincoln
The bus you're referring to was KHCT/Stagecoach Hull Dennis Dominator (E132 SAT). It was painted in a special livery and used as the "Ferrybus" - running a service between Hull Station and the North Sea Ferries Terminal.
Right at the begining of the video... to the left of screen. Why is there an Arriva buses bus present? Arriva never ran to hull
Lol Andy, yeah....i wonder how they ended up that far away.. You can always tell a Metrobus coming behind you by the noise lol. Funny though, the long single decker EYMS buses (not sure what make) the ones with the metal rails over the seats, that do the 66 and 41 services, they remind me of Metrobuses when they are running, must have similar retarders. Stagecoach had a few too, but they got rid and ended up with them horrid ones currently running 1's and 2's. Ugh, always cold on them buses.
I don't know where you could get just the material from, but last time I was in the London Transport Museum Shop in Covent Garden, they were selling cushions made out of that material :)
Yes a few LAT Vs ended up sightseeing in London. LAT503V is now sightseeing in Washington I believe and 505V is in Malaysia. A bit different to Boothferry Estate!
Still see a few ex London Transport MCW's used on Rose Travels school fleet
When i lived in London, i saw one of these old KHCT Metrobus's being used as an open top sight seeing bus, it was an LAT ###V.....honest, I can't forget one a bus i used to use every day when it used to run service No2 to Boothferry Estate lol!
Why did they go before the Y/A/B/C examples. Is it because they didn't have the refurb?
thanks zorg and gitface(!) for the comments - it was a 3 speed voith. I used to love the scania metropolitans too - the way the front lifted as they took off from bus stops! I never got to drive them sadly - they'd all gone a couple of years before i passed my test. I did get to drive the next generation of scanias though, the G and H reg, they were pretty fast too - good for the 11pm last bus. But my favourite still has to be the metrobus! Best buses KHCT had......cue Atlantean fans.... :)
Hulls mid 80's seat coverings were great!
As a 26 year old hull lad I had a very depressing trip home last month. Gone is the old bus station the EYMS VR's and KHCT replaced by a new interchange and lots of London cast offs. Used to live just off Ings Rd and catch the 12 to Hull as a real young un and look forward to a treat of a trip on one of the PRH-G atlanteans or better still a Metropolitan (can remember these even though I was only about 4/5 when they went!) If only we'd had youtube and affordable video cams in the 80's/90's!
You think you're lucky, I've only the faintesf memory of a ride of a 'London cast-off' - nope, I only remember the bench seats. Now they're chucking out the Manchester buses and the half-decent MANs for MMC tripe. Well, its better than what Grimsby-Cleethorpes has...
But Dunn Line have exported the TWM Metros abroard
Lovely revving 515 up have not heard a MKI Metro revv up for years
Thats ok mate excellent video shame she was scrapped sounds really smooth
I remember that depot in the station. I used to think that it was rather odd when younger. When I was eight, i was given a tour round the inside. Thanks for the memories
Thanks metrobuschris and yes I think this one was scrapped quite soon after we took this video! Great shame.
Safety is always a priority at our yard and using your hazards gives mechanics and support people a better chance of spotting a moving vehicle
Why should the driver be using his hazard lights??? It's in a private yard, the bus has its reverse lights on so it's obvious that the bus is reversing and there is no-one around!!!!
some of them have been exported 2690 s In Belgium and some of the TWM MKI's have gone as well
Yeah who knows where that fell off! In their latter years (and for cost cutting reasons and ease I guess!), some of them were just panelled over when they came off. Other metros acquired "home-made" grilles too - which did actually look quite smart and gave them a nice custom look!
thanks for the nice comments nickladey and hullbuses. Brought back some good memories posting it!
verey nice vid love old buses from hull carnt stand stage coach ones but unfortinaly we have to use them its sad that hull corporation dont run any more why not what happend nick cox old hull photographs
Why is the driver not using his hazard lights?
Glad you like the video. Sadly I think 515 was withdrawn and robbed for parts in about 1997/98.I didn't know that 518 has been saved. That's great news. Which company? SAG 520W has been rescued and i believe it's currently undergoing restoration.
Great video. I wonder where 515V is now? I did see 501V and 502V with their roofs cut off doing open topped services in Blackpool. Theres a couple of ex-Hull MCW's in Gateshead and at least 2 w reg vehicles doing sight seeing tours around Windsor. Did you know that SAG 518W has been aquired by a local company for preservation?
Nope, deffo a Gardner.
I believe so, yes. As far as I know, only one ex Hull metrobus has been kept for preservation and that's SAG520W
Scrapped?
Yes :(
is this metro scappred then?
Yes :(
Thats a fantastic video of him driving the Metrobus well done.
More hair on your top lip than on your head now mostyn, just kidding, great video andy, brings back happy memories, happy, happy days
will they get painted into the veolia colour?
Yes, as of 17/7/08, Veolia in Lincoln were running all the following metrobuses... F38, F48, F79, F104, F306, F310XOF, F992 & 993 XOE. F304 XOF is in bits at the moment, but is intended to go back on the road. Great to see them all around.
have veolia lincoln still got these i went down once and there was a few getting ready for scrap
visited veolia lincoln nice people there they let me around depot and let me take photos all though i did get told for sitting in driver seats. this is still there and all others look alright
Hi Paul. Good to hear from you. It does bring back some happy memories of Ferensway. I've got some footage of the depot somewhere, which I'll upload as soon as I get some spare time!
Hi Andy ,its Paul C,the other garage detailer who worked with mostyn, great video, brings back great memories, how are you doing,i drive trains for a living now, still miss ferensway, happy days
Didn't cost anything - we worked there so just asked nicely!
how much did it cost to hire it?
has veolia still got this? if so is it in dunn-line livery?
