I share your belief in the divinity of Jesus. However, I believe Jesus, among all of his other works also came to fulfill (Daniel 12:1) before he returns. Walking in the footsteps of Jesus, can it be done? Can we follow this example? Certainly, and still, to what end other than our own? To follow this example will probably land us in jail, while in Israel at the time of Jesus it usually resulted in a death sentence. 2. later down the road Jesus curses the pharisees in a scathing rebuke; (parable of the fig tree). Can we follow this example? Certainly, however, this contradicts "love thy neighbor as thyself", and to what end other than our own? It is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.
