    • @autoinfogroup1629
      @autoinfogroup1629 Před 9 dny

      PCV is spring loaded for most NA engines...so adjusting is not an option... could just bypass the valve but that can cause too much vacuum inside the crank case...which for most cases is not advisable.

    2013 genesis sedan 5.0. Vehicle pulls right then left while accelerating and on uneven roads. You can feel it mostly on the freeway but also at low speeds but not as much. Steering wheel doesn't move with the shimmy making driving feel unstable. Steering wheel is not loose, no noise while turning, suspension is tight. I've replaced Struts in the front and shocks in the back also front right side lower control arm and right and left upper control arms. Sway bar is tight front and back.Could it be the steering rack? I feel like I'm chasing a ghost. Any thoughts?

    • @autoinfogroup1629
      @autoinfogroup1629 Před měsícem

      Could be a loose, steering rack preload. If its not tight enough, there won't be any sound, just wanders own its own, cannot stay steady on straight highways...

      @autoinfogroup1629 Thanks for the reply. It drives straight. Steering is normal but just swerves or sways right to left while accelerating or uneven pavement. Going to check the rear suspension more thoroughly. Doesn't seem like the steering rack. It doesn't leak. Steering wheel is straight, no noises. No play in tie rods. Lol. Idk 🤷‍♂️

    • @autoinfogroup1629

      Hi at higher engine acceleration egr closes and at stable constant speeds at higher engine rpm, egr opens up thus reducing combustion temp. High speed cruising not high speed acceleration.

  • @gmaacentralfounder
    @gmaacentralfounder Před měsícem

    Fact check: "Function of EGR is to LOWER efficiency?" - are you high? The way PHYSICS works EGR INCREASES efficiency. It doesn't lower engine life - if anything, there's and extension. Agan: that's physics, not politics. In petrol engines EGR actually increases efficiency. In diesels it only reduces emissions somewhat. "Block off the valvle to improve quality of the vehicle" - another lie. Blocking it does NOTHING in most cases, and actually makes diesel engines knock more. DELETE - somewhat yes, BLOCK - heck no. "Blocking EGR will return the engine to peak efficiency and less fuel needed to maintain same power" - NO. The way EGR works it DECREASES fuel consumption when engine is under constant load (i.e. driving on motorway). It DOES NOT DECREASE MAX POWER AND FUEL CONSUMPTION WHEN NEEDING MAX POWER. because it's TURNED OFF then. In order to see any gain you have to DELETE IT, but that does any good for older diesels mostly, and it's a minor gain. "blocking the CO2 re-entering the engine, it gets better power on pistons at lower rpms" - true, of course, but this is because it will use then MORE FUEL. "(...) this makes manifold, pistons and other components clean" - not really, no. At best it decreases it somewhat, because THE DEPOSITS COME FROM BURNING ENGINE OIL IN CYLINDERS, which comes from PCV (CVS). "car is more responsive to accelerator pedal" - true, but only in specific situations. And arguably you may not even feel the difference. OLder cars - sure. Newer cars (after 2010) - NO. "(...) avoids early blocks in DPF and CC" - this is so laughably untrue it's not funny. Think on it - IF WE DO NOT REDIRECT PARTS OF EXHAUST GASES BACK TO THE CYLINDER, WHERE THE "SOOT" IS BURNED, HOW IN THE HELL WE REDUCE DEPOSITS IN DPF? This doesn't compute: with EGR working there is less particulates hitting DPF, so how blocking it reduces particulates hitting DPF? "(...) incrase NOx and other gases" - Heck, no. if we put more CO2 into the cylinder, then we burn less fuel and produce less CO2 in effect. NOx are slightly different - they come from high pressure in the engine and increased fuel-air ratio. This is why especially diesel PRODUCES MORE NOx naturally (it is, after all compression-ignition engine). "(...) increase sound and vibration" - IN OTHER WORDS - INCREASE KNOCKING, WHICH IS BAD FOR THE ENGINE. "(...) decrease Turbocharger lifespan" - yes, drastically. "burning fuel at higher temperature improves efficiency" - true, but it also increases drastically emissions of NOx, which is very harmful. This is the trade-off with the EGR. "this makes the engine run hot" - yes and no. IT DOESN'T IMPACT THE WAY ENGINE WORKS WHEN MORE POWER IS NEEDED. Engine will run hotter on lower RPMs and when idle, but not when driving dynamically. Thus the "hot engine running" is a myth or shoddy EGR block/delete work.

    Been driving a PD105 for two years with my electronic EGR unplugged, and an open exhaust. I drive past cops, turbo whistles loudly and they don't even look. Haha. They are concerned with sound level in my country, but it's a small diesel with a turbo and it's quiet enough unless I floor it. I'll be adding another turbo in the future. Compound style. When I do a full overhaul at 400,000km I'll pull the EGR out and weld it. I want to keep the antishudder valve because of the amount of air I pump through and don't want a runaway.

    I replaced my intake and exhaust valves on my Subaru ej253. Word of advice; if it's your first time order a few extra seals. I hammed them in with a 10mm socket as suggested and you're supposed to stop when the ping noise changes tone as it means your new seal has seated. I over-hammered the first couple of exhaust seals and had to re-use old seals; I think oil is getting into the exhaust manifold as I am having some consumption and on one bank the manifold is starting to look oil-soaked. I'm going to have to pull the head and replace the exhaust seals on the one bank. Many many many hours of work (especially on a Subaru) when if I just had a few extra spare seals during my "learning phase" the extra work could have been prevented.
