Beautiful! Thanks for sharing! When you have enough tubers of your seedlings, I’ll be first in line to buy them or swap.😀❤️
Thank you for watching, Sofia! I am growing them out for one more year and than I hope, I have some to share 🙃🤗
Sunglasses is also a favorite of mine, but I quit growing it because it always split. I'll have to try some of the varieties from row 7. Thanks for your channel. I just subscribed.
Thank you for being here, Ellie! 💚 Let me know if you have any questions or content requests 🤗
Hi Stephie! I also live in MA, about 20 minutes from Attleboro. Every time I grow dahlias they are eaten by Japanese beetles and then earwigs to the point that there are no petals! Yours are so beautiful even though you have earwigs!
Hi neighbor 👋🏻, I am lucky on the Japanese beetle side. I think our backyard birds take care of them, but the earwigs are a nuisance. Oh well.. Thank you for watching 💚
I love that “they’re not here for a long time, they’re here for a great time” ❤❤❤
Just the truth 🙃😆 Thank you for watching 💚
great video, thanks for sharing. you have some beautiful dahlia's. never too many of them.
Thank you for watching, Sonie! And I agree, you can never have too many dahlias 🙃 There is no such thing 😬
Definitely takes patience to grow dahlias in New England. But, they are BEAUTIFUL!! Do you photograph your flowers? I sometimes do. Such a beauty to behold:) Congrats on your absolutely gorgeous flowers. .... I wonder if you covered the dahlias with super protection in the ground, if they could handle it -- and not just the ones you didn't care for, lol! Even when they are not our favorites, it's hard to yank them out. If I had a piece of insulation, I might try covering some dahlias in the ground - like all the ones I particularly like, that probably wouldn't make it boxed up in the garage.
Thank you for watching, Anna-Maria. Check out my instagram account @grown_in_Newengland where I have a bunch of photographs of my flowers 🥰 I LOVE taking my dahlias for photoshots 😆. And regarding your covering, I am not sure if I would be ever brave enough to gamble with our winter weather. 😬
@@growninnewengland I feel like I'm gambling already -- I had terrible results last year, so I might give it a go!!
@annamaria54321 please report back if it works out 🤓🙃🙌🏻
Just found your channel having watched the tour done with Steph from Hooked & Rooted. I am in Bridgewater not far away. I love Briggs nursery! Will be checking out your MANY vlogs soon.

@AliceBurns-bw4yv thank you, Alice!
Your seedling 1 is so pretty, is it coming back true this season?
It did. I have a dahlia harvesting video coming out on Friday, where I show it in more detail 💚 Thank you for watching
Is that black Krim or Cherokee purple?
This is a Berkley Tie Dye. As beautiful as delicious 😋
Beautiful flowers ❤❤❤
Thank you for watching, Maria! A dahlia cutflower video is coming your way on Friday 🤗
😊 hi Steffi, Just saw your garden in a visit from step from hooked and rooted. Love your gardens and vlog style. Just subscribed!

Mountin Magic for me is off the charts as well! Still producing tons of fruits going into September!
Mine too, although everything has now blight, so it will be coming to an end soon 🫣
@@growninnewengland Yeah, most of mine look horrible too, but i dont care. I'm waiting until they stop producing to pull them. I'm still getting Cherokee Purple, though small ones now.
@shannonhills yeah, it’s normal for end of August 🙃😆🤷🏼♀️
I really appreciate your review and am going to try some of your favorites next year. ❤❤❤
@shannonhills thank you for watching 💚
Hello, Steph! What's the biggest, most impressive tomato you've grown? I haven't had anything too notable, myself. My father grows all medium size tomatoes. But someday, maybe I can grow a big meaty tomato. I remember trying to grow mortgage lifter, but it didn't grow that well. I, too, have had great success with the sungold. God bless those sungold tomatoes!! Your tomatoes all look beautiful, btw!!
I think the largest one I have ever grown was a Cherokee Purple. I try to stay with normal sized tomato varieties, bc we get storms in summer here and I am always nervous that branches break in higher winds with heavy fruits. Sungolds are the best 😋😋 Thank you for watching 💚
I also live in attleboro and will be starting my first batch of lisianthus..
Hi Neighbor 👋🏻 I hope my video was helpful for your first try. It is still a bit early to start them here. I usually start them after Christmas. Let me know if you have any questions 🙌🏻
Everything looks fantastic! I had to pull squash and zucchini sadly but I planted another round of seeds so fingers crossed. I have lots of cherry tomatoes for hubby (I am allergic). The dahlias are starting to bloom too
Yeah, the amount of neglect the garden is still doing well 🙃 My dahlias are enjoying the cooler temps 🙌🏻
Everything is really looking so good, Steph. Bravo!! The flowers are lovely!! I have a ton of dead heading to do too. I had planted some pumpkins in a mound not far from the compost pile and those vines have taken off!! It's quite the entertainment trying to see what's producing, but I've got one cushaw squash (first time growing that for me) and the one fruit is gigantic -- bigger than a basketball, I think. I see 3 other pumpkins. Beans are growing well now, too. Beans with bacon and cubed bread - my father's creation - so good.
I dead headed a full gorilla cart this morning 😆🙈🤷🏼♀️ the wet weather is bringing a lot of rot, but oh well. Sounds like your fall decoration is off to a good start 🙃🤗🙌🏻 and beans with bacon and bread sounds like heaven 😬😋
Gorgeous lilies ❤
Thank you! They always bring me a lot of joy for the brief moment they bloom 💚
Everything looks lush!
Thank you! I don’t think it will be as lush in the next garden tour 😆🙈
Looks fabulous
Thank you, Meghan 🤗
Beautiful!
Thank you for watching 💚
Hello! This weekend, I decapitated my only centercut squash plant that I was so looking forward to, based on your recommendations 😭😭 I was pruning, and chopped the wrong thing.. 3 feet gone 😢 the vine is regenerating at the bottom, but in a short season.. not sure if it’ll catch back up… If my hubby was interested in gardening, he’d be all about the stats and spreadsheets! But I am the total opposite 😅
Oh no, that happens sometimes. Don’t fret it. I pruned one of my first tomato clusters by accident. 🙄 I am sure the squash will grow back fast
4 weeks?! You might not recognize your garden when you get back. But hopefully the harvesters are up to the task! ... Will love to see your upcoming garden tour. ... We'll be away for a few days, too. Stuff always grows a ton when you're not in the garden a few days. ... Also, nice fan!! .... myself, I am super busy, too. And I've got about thousand mental notes of things I'd wish to do a little differently next year -- maybe not a thousand, lol. But also celebrating the successes - I've made some pretty bouquets, harvested several tomatoes and cucumbers. Looking forward to the beans - lots of flowers on them so far. I'm hoping for some pumpkins in the hidden places, lol. Hope you have a quick and easy 4 weeks, Stef!
No, I am gone 4 days. 😅 did I say weeks?! 🙈I will be gone a lot the next 4 weeks but only for a few days at a time. Make sure you get a garden journal to write down all those mental notes. I always think I will remember, but I never do 🙃😆
That little fan is funny. Is it solar? Battery? We have one by the sliding door to deter flies. It seems to help. My garden is in survival mode. The heat has been oppressive in July here.
It is battery powered, which you can charge via USB C. Really nice.
😊 Oh --duck tape!!!! Works for everything. 😂 3 days go I found those eggs on 6 leaves and rubbed the eggs w a paper towel so.eof the leaves were slightly damaged because the eggs r sticky. Today I found more layed on 2 more leaves. I will try this now. it's too many to remove whole leaves. Ugh! How the eggs are sticking to the leaf 😡😱 I have seen several stink bugs but not the orange and black squash bugs yet. UGH!!!! I am so disturbed by these, I hope I can stay ahead of them.
It does work for everything 😏🙌🏻
Good amount of garlic.
Thank you for watching! 💚 Yes, that amount of garlic will last us until the next harvest 🤗😬
Great harvest. Last year I tried red Russian. They were nice and they look good for this year. Haven’t harvested mine yet. They are just forming the scapes now. I live on n Zone 3 here in Canada
I haven’t tried red russian yet. Good luck with your harvest in a while 🙌🏻🤗💚
Love hard neck. Only thing I grow ❤❤❤
What hardneck varieties are your favorites?
@@growninnewengland purple stripe and I lost my Armenian ones. I’m trying to find more seats. Those were really delicious and spicy and had a grate flavor, but they’re hard to find. Still trying to find some seeds or a bulb. May have to travel to New York or Chicago, and see if I can find one in a cultural grocery store.
@janice.backporch oh interesting, I have never heard of Armenian garlic. Now I am curious to find it too 🤣🧐
@@growninnewengland game changer. I hope one day you get to enjoy the flavor
Hi😁I grew some Maverick geraniums too. Small business seed packet just said “Maverick “ and nothing else. I’m happy. They were old seeds and they grew big and healthy and pink flowers which is only geranium I’m missing. Congratulations on those. Garden looks awesome
Nice! I got my seeds from Swallowtail Gardens
👍10. Beautiful geraniums
Thank you for watching 💚
The geraniums are so beautiful!! Lovey!! What kind of squash are those? Same as tromboncino maybe? I need to harvest the garlic, too. Maybe in the morning. Stay cool, Stef!!
Thank you, Anna-Maria. That is the Centercut Squash from row7. Tastes so much better than zucchini and is Squash vine borer resistant 😏 and sooo productive 🙃🙈
2:23 wow! Gorgeous❤
Thank you! 🥰 do you grow geraniums from seed?
@@growninnewengland honestly I’ve not even purchased before, and not from seed. I have some weird association/ptsdish .. 🤪 to them.. I’ve got some weird quirks 🙃. That said I’ve not paid much attention to them over the years and have only more recently noticed all the lovely colors and a pretty leaf structures they are now in. I may have to add them to my wish list! I just made a large seed purchase at BC for perrenials and winter sowing 😊. And I’m getting ready to start out my fall brassicas!
@@growninnewengland is that display in full sun?
@ruthannecoro6198 perennials are a lot of fun to grow, too 🤗
@@growninnewengland I had decent success with my winter sowing last season and have some lovely plants that I’ve got set up in assorted pots to grow on for next year… or they’ve been planted out! Up until this year all my flower beds have been landscape. Some of which are quite mature and have stories to tell and memeories to share ♥️ my perrenial garden is roughly 4-5 feet x 15 feet and then 4.5ish by 20. And then another 3-4ft x 15 or so. And another 3.5x20 .. oh and a new 6x10 or so space was our former grill space..that’s mostly shade is in the process of becoming a shade garden. I’ve got lots of dividing to do! I don’t even know the actual number of plants I have back here 😊 in 2019 I added my veggie garden that has now grow to an area of about 25x45 with an assortment of raised beds and containers/pots grow bags. I have a new tea garden box this year.. 4x8 that my husband built me that is coming g in lovely. I also addd a cut flower garden space that is roughly 20 x 25 some long rows, a few short, and a few patches.. potage style 🧑🌾
I just use dawn soap. Gets rid of everything not needed.
I have never tried that on eggs 🤔
@@growninnewengland creates a film that blocks airflow to bugs. Suffocates them.
I have these and they are extremely solid and just perfect. They should last forever! Very happy with this purchase😊
So far, I am very happy with mine too. And they already have braced some serious winds 😳🙈😅
Thanks I've been having problems with them lately
Make sure you get rid of them early otherwise they multiply quickly 😑
Subscribed to your good ideas!
Thanks for being here! 🙌🏻💚
Nice lifehack!
Duct tape is also good for removing ticks and other little mites you might have on you. If you got a splinter you can't get out put a little piece of duct tape on it and then just leave it.
Let’s just say duct tape is magic 🤗🙌🏻💚
We keep a section of folded take in our first aid kits, same with electrical tape. Electrical tape. Only sticks to itself, where dick tape sticks to everything.
Subscribed. Holy moly that's easier than what we've always done. (Scraping or tearing the leaf piece out)
Welcome to my world of simplicity 😉🙃🙌🏻 Thanks for subscribing 💚
Simple and effective, can't beat that!
Simple and usually everyone has some sort of duct tape or sticky tape at home 🙃🙌🏻
That what she said
Cordless detail vacuum works great.
…Genius. Going to try that immediately. Thank you!
Masking tape also works for this, and for SVB eggs.
Yes 🙌🏻 any tape which is sticky enough will do it. And I am not growing any varieties anymore which the SVB likes. That battle was too hard to win 😑
I feel silly for not thinking of this but thank you for the tip!
You are welcome! It works also really well for the nymphs and adults, if you use the super sticky duct tape 😈
That tree!! Wow. Very amazing! And the rock entryway -- so cool!! Never heard of this place. Thank you for sharing, Steph!
I never heard about it either until I stumbled over the website by accident. I can highly recommend a visit. It was beautiful
Beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing.
Thanks for watching 💚
fun look at how it's all coming along! Thanks.
Thank you, Greg. How did your garden deal with the heat?
Lovely bird bath!! That color is really pretty. Nice find!! ... It IS exciting - I brought some snap peas to my coworker who I know loves them. I also brought in a very humble bouquet from the garden, and it was my coworker who used the work "exciting" with regard to the garden and I totally agree. If anyone has ever thought to plant something, just do it!! It won't be perfect as there is a huge learning curve, but oh, how fun to watch things grow and improve... the next thing I need to do will be stringing up the cucumbers and melons to have them grow vertically.
Gardening fills the soul and is so satisfying to experience. I truly believe that it catches on fast once you start with something 🙃💚
What do you do when they turn lighter color and have nice pea shapes inside? I like the well formed peas. Or was this for eating with the whole pod?
I typically eat the pea and discard the pod. Because the pod isn’t tender at that point anymore.
Hello - I'm in MA also! I put in a cutting garden this year, and my plants are all still infants compared to yours! Your sweet peas are loving life, I yanked mine they were 4". Any tips, fertilizer, etc, to get my plants to grow, I'd appreciate it, thanks!
Hi Heidi, Yay to starting a cutting garden 🤗 check out my cutflower garden series which shows all my steps on how I setup my garden for success: urlgeni.us/youtube/Cutflowerseries1 Thank you for watching 💚
Looking great!! Looks orderly & nice. I have a different extreme going on in my garden, lol. Definitely going to simplify it a bit next year. Jungle beds - that's what I got, lol.
There is nothing wrong with a little jungle 🙃😉🙌🏻 Thank you for watching
