do you play Celeste? i make mods and i make my own music for said mods using fmod , learning beginner pixel art now for my mods.. eventually i want this to all lead up to me learning godot or game maker engine and then make a game based on what i have learned, maybe a few small cursed games. a small rpg and a small platformer like prototypes.

Hey Im making myself a game, and yeah those issues are true haha! But the hardest for me is pixel art animation, its sooooo time consuming o.O Im not that bad at it, just super slow. But coding side, that where I rock! haha :D

Sadly I can't make pixel art because I'm allergic to pixels.

2:33 - I'd like to add that, at least for me, I was thinking of CONCEPTS first, meaning, I get to see the whole project working in my head, which is waaaaaay far from step 1 of a project. If someone is like me, what I'd do to avoid losing motivation is take notes of the smallest steps for that project and pick the ones I think you'd be fun, or the tricky ones if I got my coffee ready and I'm looking for a challenge. It usually works well, and I plan my leisure time around those bites to complement them. Stressful step? Let's read or walk on the beach. Easy, fun step? Let's clean the house while I rethink of how fun that step was... And so on. Another thing, use small steps to work on demos, rather than full games. I can't STRESS that enough! Demos are much more useful and show your projects potential to all your friends and the public in general. And you don't even need to stress out to make a full working project yet. Demos are way better to get suspended than a partially completed project. Because you can always come back to those demos and pick up where you left. A non-working project is usually messy and hard to find where you left off last time.

I've heard it said about pixel art: every pixel must be intentional and serve a purpose. I feel like I learned a lot from this video, looking forward to more like it!

No idea if this has been said before but instead of zooming in and out all the time to see pixelart from different "distances" you can just enable a preview window in most art software with support for pixelart. :)

How do people animate in pixel art?

What i love about pixel art - in most cases it looks good, even despite some mistakes. You can make it better, but noobs in art already can draw some sprites in pixel style for game.

Pixel art was my intro to gaming on the DS with Pokemon Black Version 2. I'm glad to see what once was a hardware limitation has developed into a style with a distinct vibe and identity that's still being used and expanded upon today :D

I think this is why I love indie games, animations and other projects done by small teams. Their producers don't just grab a thousand bucks and throw it at whatever the easiest money farming gimmick because those projects are much closer to the hearts of their teams. New creators with an idea, even just one idea for one project, put in the effort to share that idea for what it is so others can just enjoy. They may only make one game or series, maybe even just a demo or a pilot, but they mean so much more to the people that play them and devs who worked hard on them than a game that people play daily out of obligation and is updated constantly too keep people playing. Don't make people come back so they can keep chasing as unreachable finish line, make sure they want to experience it all again from the start. :) Thank you, this was a beautiful video. <3 I pray more big game companies come back to their roots, giving people something they love instead of tricking them into loving something they don't need. And to any devs with your own projects, I hope they get the spotlight they deserve so more of us can appreciate the genuine care and work you've put into your ideas! :D
