Hotline Bling - Re-Creation
I was home one weekend with the flu and so for fun I re-created the instrumental of Drake's 'Hotline Bling' using the original samples and a drum sequencer (Hydrogen Studio). I just did it to see if I could, and I think it came out ok (although the pitch adjustment is slightly off)
The beat is simple and yet I find it really addictive, and it was fun to play around with it. Originally I was using a snare sample but it didn't sound right - I changed it to a rimshot mixed with an 80's style clap effect, overlayed with a triangle sample. It took a while to get the right 'bright' hi-hat sound that worked well when sequenced rapidly.
The original percussion and melody comes from 'Why Can't We Live Together' by Timmy Thomas in 1972. I chopped it up, sped it up to 135 BMP and then dropped the pitch around 9%.

A short mix of Andrew Bogut's 2007/8 season with the Milwaukee Bucks. Andy steadily improved his scoring and rebounding and barely missed out on averaging a double-double for the season. He also finally emerged as a legitimate shot blocker and a strong defensive presence. Next season could well see Bogut make his first All-Star appearance.
