Stratton is my home mtn, so here r my lift rankings for it from worst to best: #10: Solstice. Its just a helper to the Sunrise Exp and while it almost never sees lines, it is extremely slow and would b my first choice to remove with no replacement. #9: Tamarack. This lift is good for beginners bcz of the isolation, but its slow and requires a hike to reach mid mtn lodge and a slight uphill catwalk to get to the ursa lift. Its also sort of tucked away in a hidden location, further limiting its usefulness. This lift will b replaced by a HS quad for the 2024-25 season, but I dont really know much about the upcoming HS quad, so I wont talk about it. #8: So. american. This is just a helper to AMEX to escape the lines there, but its slow and doesnt give access to the snowbowl exp. like amex does. #7: Villager. This lift is important for beginner progression but doesnt really serve any other purposes. #6: The gondola. This lift does provide isolation from the cold and gets ppl directly from the main base to the top, but closures due to wind are common on this lift. It also sees a lot of crowds during peak times. #5: Shooting star. This lift is a good helper lift to URSA and provides an almost direct base to summit route as the Sunrise exp ends right next to the start of this lift. But all the trails that feed into this lift also feed into the Way home trail, which leads directly to URSA. That limits its practicallity. #4: AMEX. This is the main out of base lift at the mtn, which means its very important for this lift to exist. However, the lifts I ranked higher on this list serve better terrain. #3: Snowbowl Exp. This lift does serve a lot of cool terrain to the skiers left of the mountain, but wind closures are common on this lift. However, they arent as bad as the gondola. #2: Sunrise Exp. This is the main lift out of the sunbowl base area and serves a lot of nice terrain. #1: URSA exp. This is the main upper mtn lift at Stratton and serves a whole bunch of great terrain at the mtn. It is also conveniently tucked into the woods, meaning it never sees problems with wind. And unless if it has mechanical problems, it is always open wen the top is open. It also has 4 lifts that feed into it, making it even more useful.

Length is more like 3331 feet from Google Earth. Based on that length and the ride time, the speed is closer to 650 fpm. Painfully slow, but then again the lift isn’t in the best shape.

@@NortheasternP.T.S. yes, that’s why the original gondola had a mid station right before the windy part, so they could just run the lower gondola line on days when it was too windy to operate the upper line.
