its not that expensive, and its much more affordable than dublin! im pretty sure that nuig is the cheapest college in ireland and one of the most affordable in the world, idk if thats also true for international or not but galway itself is also not very expensive

hi! 1. yes there are lots of GMU Korea students here as well as international students from all over. i'm friends with people from all over the world. next to me in my apartment building off campus are students from GMU Korea as well. 2. i would say it's pretty easy to make friends here as an international student. we have an international buddy group program that you can join (i'm in it and made friends with many people that way) and also i assume with GMU Korea students that you can do your year abroad with friends or you will meet others from GMU Korea while you're here. the school is pretty good at having events and things like that to connect people. also, a lot of people here are actually not very tall! you'd be surprised. i have tall male friends but also many shorter male friends who are a similar height to you. 3. GMU is a decent school in the states. it's not like a super competitive academic school but there are very good degree programs and people who prioritize their education. many people go to grad school after attending GMU and do very well. GMU also pretty well known and people think well of it. let me know if you have any more questions!

I heard that they give students scholarship based on their TOEFL scores when they first enroll. But, is it true? What is the criterion of giving scholarships to students? And how much are they usually?

@@Swanee. from what I understand the best scholarships to apply for as a freshman is the entrance based scholarships. The needs based is based on your need so you would have to show proof of need and the merit is based on test scores. They get back to you quite quickly so I would apply as soon as you can for those scholarships to see how much you would be helped out. It’s based on your high school grades and test scores. Idk the specific criteria but I would apply to them even if you don’t think your scores are too high because usually they will give you something. There are also scholarships for returning students.

hi! i do think its fine to major in english in that case. I write about 1-2 essays per class per semester but I have lots of help from friends, professors, and classmates. My school also has a writing center where you can go for help, and many schools have this! As long as you know you will have to write some essays and are willing to do that then I say go for it!
