All are welcome Connor. It may be more difficult to get tickets next season as we are still restricted to 18,000 due to safety reasons. Also of course we have a new decent owner who is going to invest and a new manager, so season tickets are selling fast. I hope Cambridge do well but league 2 is a bloody tough league to get out of

Thanks for putting this up, I trained at Knowle 1978 to 81, moved to Dep. of P. then to Graylinwell in Chichester. fond memories, I was a life guard for a while and really enjoyed Meon House. Loved summer holiday trip to Netley Abbey, wish I could remember names. Still working as a cpn in Devon. V. impressed with your memory for names.

Hi we are looking at a flat on the ground floor next to the arch at the end of what is now consort mews. I was wondering if you knew what this was used for when it was a hospital? it has the large white door on the wall In the archway and names engraved in the bricks. We're also looking at one in Kingswood place on the first floor in the part which extends out right in the middle of the main building overlooking the large grassed area. could you tell us which part of the hospital this was too? we are very interested in the history of the building but can't find much about it. any advice would be greatly appreciated :) thank you.
Hi Hannah. Those names names and initials are of staff members going back donkeys years. That whole wing was psycho Geriatric wards two wards on each floor. Barton, Botlay, Crofton and Catisfield Wards. All closed in 1996. The hospital opened as Hampshire County Lunatic Asylum in the 1860s.
I saw this very band exactly 2 nights before this in London and just superb - you presumably quote something John said on stage that night which is typical of John's, lets say 'public image' right? :) But in London a rather young man got to the front and shouted "HELLO JOHN!!!" and John heard so during an intro he smiled and put his thumb up so warmly at the young man and went "you alright?" i think with a wink too. Probably the softest warmest cuddly human being in the world (though I'd have to ask Nora about the latter, or Rambo perhaps i jest) and does what he does based on emotions and experiences rather than corporate technical brilliance - yet technically it is brilliant all the same! Excuse the essay mate but bands like PIL cause such deep excitement and food for much thought! Cheers for sharing.

Roy Richard Llowarch the guy is just awesome. Whilst I guess the majority of interviewers feel a bit on edge/cautious whilst interviewing him as we all know how he can respond to things, I think he enjoys acting incredibly calmly and indifferently to any attempts to deliberately stir a reaction from him. His response and subsequent action after the glass attack in Chile was first class! No Bieber-like or Elton-like storming off much as I adore the rocket man. Btw I do love Pompey - an underrated place to visit!
I would love to meet John. I too think he is an awesome guy, and no doubt very interesting to speak with. OMG! I cannot stand the sycophantic little twat Elton John lol. Mind you a couple of his songs are okay :-) Pompey is a good place to visit but can be a bit rough lol

Hi I am about to purchase a flat in the former South Block in what I believe is the former Netley Ward? Could you tell me what this ward was used for? Really interested in this site, seems to have a great history and well preserved. Any help would be great.
+Dan Smith Netley Ward had a couple of uses during my time at Knowle. It was an Acute Admission ward for Fareham and Gosport. It was also a long stay / rehab ward for people with enduring mental health problems. A lovely place to live. :-)

I was a patient in Crowlin House in 1970, and again in 1971. Then i was in the professorial Unit for a short stay. It is nice to see the old buildings are still there.
Hello David, hopefully you have been happy and well since that time. Yes the professorial unit you refer to would have been Gailbraith Ward named after the Prof. Gailbraith ward is no longer there but lots of the old hospital buildings are as you can see from video. Its a nice place to go for a walk as its peaceful. It feels like home to me as I spent such a long period working there and living there too. Thank you for your comment

Hi Mike, I don't think that I do remember your dad Dave. What department did your dad work in at Knowle? I worked there in nursing from 1977 until Knowle closed in 1996 and then went to the Meadows. As a matter of interest Wickham Parish have agreed to a memorial for all staff and patients to be placed at Knowle so hope to have that done by this summer. Hi, thanks for getting back to me. My dad worked in the knowle workshop making dolls houses etc. I knew Hellen Duffy, John Terry, sandy Mathews, quite a few of the patients, my dad was on Gail braith ward and then was transferred to the meadows in the late 90's. I was also a patient but I was never in knowle. I visited my dad every week he was in knowle for many years, during the 90's. I looked at the photos that was interesting to see, thanks for the link. Hi Mike, I may have vague memories of your dad. Its sometimes hard for me to remember names as I knew so many patients and staff at Knowle, the DOP in Southampton, The Meadows, GWMH, Osborn Clinic, Hewat House and the QA hospital. I do know Helen Duffy, John Terry and Sandy Mathews. I trained in same group as Sandy. John was a couple of years behind me and Helen was post reg. The memorial will be to the hospital patients and staff as there is nothing on the old site commemorating what it was. Cheers. Roy
