Why not implement a cutter? Instead of reversing the filament just have the next filament push the rest through?

Would anyone happen to know if the m3 max uses a chitu board or has a serial connection that will let it talk to the pi gpio? Ive been searching for like an hour and i cant find a good enough picture and id rather not just rip my printer open to go pin hunting if it isnt confirmed

It's a really neat kit. Mine came with delrin anti-backlash nuts for the Z-motors as well, which I didn't expect. The linear rails are meh, but for the price I really can't ask for anything more. Definitely well worth what I paid for it.

I use steel mesh 100-200 in my ant nests. I make a recessed area with a 2-3mm edge that I can lay a cut piece of mesh on. Then I use a soldering iron to melt the mesh into the plastic. It works perfectly and looks if you have a steady hand.

Seeing this today, it appears that since Chitu locked their firmware, this may not be possible on newer printers using their hardware. I own an Elegoo Saturn 2 and ran across a reddit thread where a user failed to get that same printer working with a pi zero 2 W and Mariner. On the other hand, there is a possibility the Saturn 3 Ultra may be using a different board (it at least claims to use Linux OS), so I reached out to them regarding whether the firmware is closed or not. If it's not, it may be possible to control externally via a rpi or other computer. But probably not any printer with Chitu hardware: important to know before you rush out to buy a pi (if you can find one that is).

I love the last ones, EXCEPT that the filament used as the hinge breaks EASILY! My workaround for this is to use a Clothes Hanger as the hinge replacement for the filament. It fits perfectly. You might need to remove the metal clothes hanger paint to make the hanger wire fit better. And I use a tough wire cutter to clip the wire hanger. Now I have panel clips that no longer break!!!

I've personally had bad luck with those. I have a foam seal going around my panels and they have issues applying appropriate pressure and eventually get so loose they aren't unusable or astetically pleasing.

the annex panel clips are still the best

You did the voron clips wrong! You are supposed to use a twist in t-nut with a drop of blue thread locker, turning the panel clamps into a 1/4 turn quick release. But you do have a neat ideal tho.

For everyone wondering what this is, it is an automatic filament changer basically for like multi material printing for machines with a single hotend, it removes the filament from the nozzle and selects and inserts another one. They are meant for vorons.
