Here's a concept for the squirrel animation: The squirrel approaches a walnut but realizes he's too weak to open it. Determined to get stronger, he devises a plan. He grabs a stick, attaches two walnuts to it, and creates a makeshift workbench to work out. After doing several reps of bench pressing, he becomes super strong. This time, he's able to open the walnut with ease and feels proud of his accomplishment. In the next scene, to demonstrate his newfound strength, he punches a tree, causing it to completely shatter and a cascade of walnuts to fall down. This scene will emphasize the action and the illusion of weight in the animation. As the walnuts tumble down like a mountain, one of them hits him on the head, momentarily stunning him. However, he quickly recovers, the walnut breaks open, and he happily eats the contents inside. We can end the animation with him contentedly enjoying his reward. Then the camera will pan out and he gives you a blink from his eye or a wink as he's eating the seeds from the Walnut.
animating while watching him animate is HUMBLING!!! He's so good.
you have an excellent grasp of tvpaint animation program software James. that is the thing i would like to pick up more dexterity in doing.
Ye❤
Thank you so much for sharing this🙏🙏🙏
2:12:18 Hasbro Entertainment would produce it.
BLOWS my mind how he can just time it out in his head before he hits play. A god among us.
I saw James Baxter and expected a horse balancing on a circus ball😂
3 hour zoom meeting and it was worth the wait 🥰🥰🥰
this is a blessing
Coolness, thanx, be blessed, all in Jesus shalom
imagine having baxter THERE AT fullerton 😭
commenting so that youtube recommends me more like this.
TAMMMMMMY best actor role needs to win a grammy emmy and everything. congrats to the pmc officers!! <3
What program was he using?? Looks like photoshop? :o
It's TvPaint
@@jamesbaxter1236 Thanks a whole bunch!
Does any know what programm he uses?
TvPaint
Thank you so much for this! I love Baxter's demos! Also I love that he sort of slyly showed us how to shift and trace in TV paint! I do this all the time in harmony and on paper so it's great to see how easy it is to do in this program! Thank you for hosting and sharing! czcams.com/users/clipUgkx5_RP_xmZdZURmkWs6o2-AzT4zqsBgg_Y
James Baxter just seems like the nicest person ever
Has the algorithm finally lost it?? I went to a CSU for Art/Animation but it wasn't Fullerton lol!
the algorithm provides
I don't care how many woolongs it costs, I need that logo on a shirt asap.
Got graced with this by the algorithm, already graduated college and never been to California, so out of the student context, this was pleasantly bizarre. Looks like a good club
Can I join if I don’t go to CSUF?
where am i
Is she Korean?🤨
Could you please mention 3-5 exercises for timing improvement? My animations allways are so "floaty" and boring... It takes a lot of time for me to set it right every time...
You can feel how much he loves animation.. So enjoyable to watch it. real master
dayumn hes old
He makes it look so easy
Oh my God, I would love to be taught by this master of animation
Ate you using Storyboard Pro?
Thank you for this James. It's amazing to think in this day and age we can just sit over the shoulder of one of the greatest animators of all time. And thank you Pencil Mileage Club and CSU Fullerton for sharing this.
2:59:17 *Doink*
this is soooo underated !
He may have lost his Bristol accent, but he still is a master animator!
Baxter the god 😎
My man is a legend
Why are the 3rd 1 dishes so early
I feel so sad that I can't shift to an animation course now so watching this is both fun and comforting. Thank you for this.
Same here, but with drawing
My main takeaway from this is that the main difference between an amateur and a remarkable professional artist has nothing to do with talent or skill itself, but more to do with awareness. Look at this man, thinking ahead every single line he draws, seeing mistakes and problems on places regular people wouldn't be able to, being so certain of his judgement, he erases and deletes entire frames on what would be 5 to 10 minutes of work wasted, just because they didn't feel right. He sees his finished work before he is even close to be finished and it's not afraid of the means he'll have to take to get that idealized concept and it's not willing to give up or change his mind along the way until it is finished. It's peak perfectionism and it's something most people simply aren't built for. I may be wrong or exaggerating but I think James Baxter is the best 2D animator alive today.
Actually, skill comes with awareness and tons of experiences, like you've been through it so many times that you already know almost every single solution to the problems ahead. That's why James nearly got all his guesses right with the character's spacing during the demo, which shows the moment he pressed play.
He's one of the best but it's more of animators having different acting styles. Milt Kahl would do this differently, etc. But they're ALL GOOD.
"I'm gonna share my screen for a second." *three hours passes*
thank God, this is a class, it's for those who know how to take advantage of it❤

Ah just in time for me to paint to :)
This doodle does more damage than good. The "plant a tree" idea perpetuates the fallacy that the earth and its problems are up to individuals and not companies which account for the overwhelming majority of carbon emissions. The planet is burning and you are ripping off Shel Silverstein with hippy boomer bs that you think will pass as art? The process is lost and the art is rendered irrelevant by antiquated useless messages. Do better, earth is in the hospital and you want to send it flowers. Impact 0.
