But on a much deeper level, the Dark Side (while has a lot of power) leads to a path of betrayal, pain, and suffering. So, on the most basic analysis, the Dark Side LOOKS cooler, but it's ultimately a path of pain and agony. Unfortunately, the actors don't actually care enough to know that.

Kreia from Knights of the Old Republic II is considered to be among the better written characters by dedicated fans. She is a manipulator to rival Palpatine, and a powerful force user, an old woman who let her physical sight to atrophy as to see the actual galaxy, through the Force, with stunning clarity. This was a woman who sought to end the Force itself, as she despised how it controls everybody's destinies in a meta-critique of the series itself.
