it's almost as if in the time between The Acolyte and the prequels (which was... 100 years?) somebody discovered that indeed, you can kill Jedi. Same as Jedi not using their saber unless ready to kill, but by the time of the prequels the Jedi are like "fuq this, saber first, questions later"

Uh...I got the impression he was referring to defeating their belief system. Mae spends a considerable amount of time goading her Jedi opponents in battle. The purpose of this is to get them to abandon the tenets of their doctrine. Someone with an IQ above 3 & 3/4 would be able to understand that but...I guess you got the clicks you wanted. Ironically, that seems kind of like a Sith thing to do. 🤷‍♂️

This comment section is why I don’t wanna become a writer anymore. It is so incredibly obvious that what the master means is the pinnacle of power is to kill without a weapon, especially a Jedi. It is even outright said later on the episode that Mae has to kill at least one of the Jedi on her list without a weapon, and every other kill will not impress the master, and yet people here still look at exactly what the master said as fact. Idk if Hyperbole, sarcasm, and metaphor are just ideas no one has ever heard of, or if Star Wars fans never had a literature class, but if the new age of writing is monotone voices describe everything without an ounce of dramatic flare then that’s not an age I want to be a part of.

Now, I fully get if this is a joke, but if it’s not and you genuinely take what the Sith said literally well to put it simply, it’s a trial to teach Mae to defeat a Jedi without weapons and how weapons and tools do nothing to their strength as a community while beating them in hand to hand may be a significant moral blow.
