Bit underplaying it here. btw one of the most simple answers is "over grandure" - once the world, its explosions etc are so off scale to reality the brain snaps and flat out tells you its CGI, no matter how good or bad the CGI is.

How often is an animated character better than an actor in an animatronic mask or a complete animatronic? I recently rewatched The Phantom Menace, or atleast as much as I was able to watch before falling asleep, and so many shots could have just been puppets and would have been much more charming and timeless.

In retrospect, yeah it was stupid to even insinuate that the trilogy wasn’t planned out. I guess it was just that, from my perspective on the audience side, it felt disjointed, as if there was a lack of coordination between the teams working on each film. Again, I now realize that they did coordinate - I’m just am not seeing it as clearly in the final products.

Dang! Trying hard not to compare to the Rise of Skywalker that we got, but Trevorrow’s Duel of the Fates sounds freaking awesome!

I don't know, those monsters in the arena look kind of rubbery, and they move too fast, which makes them seem kind of weightless.

It's not just the CGI. I'm not a filmmaker or expert so I lack the vocabulary, so maybe it was the cinematography, but the prequels have the look of a high-end TV movie. They just don't seem very film-y to me. When you're watching ANH and Empire, there's no doubt you're watching CINEMA writ large.

And Chewie & Lando comes into the battle 'it's ok, everybody, we brought friends!" "And the Emperor is like, 'you can't defeat me!' and shoots lightning at all the ships!" "YEAH!!!" ...srsly, I'll bet this is how it was written & pitched to Disney execs. Meanwhile, GL's sequel trilogy story treatment begins to break down as it lay buried amongst the earthworms, countless discarded latte cups & half-eaten KETO salads with the rest of the refuse in the cold earth of Disney/LFL's landfill. This is more than just a crying shame- it's a critical FAIL for all parties involved.

As a child, I noticed this too. attack of the clones always felt like "plastic". I just blindly blamed "stupid CGI" "practical effects are better" Even if this movie had better VFX, let say, we give Lucas everything, more employees and including technology from 2024. The movie will still be hot garage.

The prequel section not getting more time explaining the new aliens is understandable , and shows how much the prequels expanded on the bigger world of this fictional universe. Like general grievous is one fo the coolest ones. The Prequels really expanded the universe
