It's so good I'm dissociating, I don't often watch horror, but (since I'm not from the US) the fact plantation weddings are a thing gave me such (unsurprised?) disgust, I followed the Tumblr rec for the political commentary - And paradoxical as it may sound, I'm very glad I came here. A+++ script. Someone has already said it, but the build-up is incredible-- And then, that "Run!" moment froze me, every hair standing on end. God, the absolute dread of the ending, knowing it's not over yet, not really... This deserves all the accolades it's gotten and more!

The way the music builds coupled with the man's heavy breathing put me right there in the moment with him, full of anxiety. This is good work.

Sent here by Tumblr cuz that CZcams algo is LAME. I have never visited a plantation, but I do live in the South. I love how this film uses the natural beauty of the place to create the unsettling atmosphere in broad daylight. I hope it becomes less acceptable to have parties at places like this as if the Spanish moss and sprawling oaks never bore witness to countless unspeakable atrocities.

He's the only Black man at this wedding and none of the guests are making the effort to interact with him...

I hate to think of haunted plantations - I want those people to be at rest, after everything they experienced in life - but like...if ghosts were real, they would be, wouldn't they? They would be haunted. They feel like they should be.

1:20 just like his acting. The way the character is clearly uncomfortable but doesn't feel capable of articulating why. It's very clear his white lover wouldn't understand his discomfort. She intellectually understands why, but not emotionally.
