    Thanks a bunch for this. I have a Samsung dishwasher only about 2 1/2 years old that just started dripping from the left front door. The door gaskets appear to be in good shape so I'm guessing it is something similar with the venting system. You've given me a good idea of what to look for when I take it apart.

    Thank You! Good Job. Had the same problem with a dishwasher we put in storage during a remodel. Started leaking during re-installation.

    Thank you!! You just saved me hours of research. I was confident it was coming from inside the vent. What a silly design flaw

    TY so much. I have the same model, and yep, a drip continued at the middle left. I took the door off and ran a cycle and sure enough that is where the water was coming from. I will try the fix you suggested because that seems to make sense. I put my home with all Samsung kitchen appliances and they have all had some kind of issue that I've had to fix. (Microwave, magnetron went out. Fridge, freezes and causes a pool that ends up leaking, had to buy aftermarket heater. Oven, convection fans stopped working and the LED display started going out). Samsung appliances kind of suck.... Anyways, thanks so much for this video it really helped.

    Just a fantastic job. You got pics in a pretty hard-to-see location, and your breaking the drip path was amazing. I saw the same principle used on the bottom of beams that projected under a low-pitch roof. I always wondered why there were two shallow saw cuts, and I was told it was to keep water from running down the beam's length and wetting the home's wall. Now we see it in action! You demonstrate the necessity of CAREFUL observation of a problem. Don't jump to conclusions. Masterful. Also, good shots of the internals of a Samsung dishwasher door. Thanks!

    Thank you so much for this video. I was ready to throw my 1-year-old Samsung dishwasher out as it was so frustrating dealing with Samsung about this. Mine actually had this issue about 3 months in and a repair center replaced the door and of course, it came back right after the warranty period. Now I'll fix it myself, thanks to your video.

      Well, I got excited too early. My dishwasher is a different model and has a totally different setup inside the door. Tried your fix, but could not as it was different. Looks like mine is just leaking around the seal.

    This was great! Had a similar issue with leaking on the bottom right of the door, just like yours, except the foam was in the proper place in my dishwasher, BUT, the issue was the hard water crystalized buildup that caused the water to drain out where it wasnt supposed to. Cleaned up the hard water residue and no more leaks. Thank you!!!

  • @aprilried
    @aprilried Před 2 lety

    Thank you doesn't even come close to expressing my appreciation. I had both issues. and had no idea why. I fashioned a funnel from a small piece of plastic milk carton handle to channel the water into the drain tray as snipping wasn't enough in my case.

  • @sureshandseema
    @sureshandseema Před 2 lety

    This is awesome video! After opening the door up and actually running dishwasher while open, I see that my problem is a different one. The drain channel fills up while water is filled into the tub and while washing, and then it just overflows from the corners. I am trying to figure out if water is supposed to get into this channel at all from the tub? In other words, should this channel be getting water only through the vent mechanism?

    Thanks for posting this. My dishwasher has only been in less than 2 months. I just put that front panel on a week or so ago, after no issues. Today, it leaked, and my first thought is that it had something to do with the front plate. After inspecting our dishes that we loaded, my wife felt like there was pressure on the door. I thinks she's right, especially after watching this video. I don't think it takes much. Disappointing. I will wait until the insulation in the door is dry, and then try again. I'll again wait some time before I reinstall the front guard. Again, thanks for the video.

    Same issue. I notched it and it worked perfectly! I also bent the metal and used a device like your foam to keep it close to the pad.

  • @gutset628
    @gutset628 Před 3 lety

    Thank you for this video. My issue was almost certainly the foam on the right. For good measure I cleaned out a bunch of gunk that had accumulated in the “tray/channel” where the vent drips into which may have allowed water to build up and overflow. And finally for anyone following the video and has a touch control unit, watch out for wires connected to the control board on the front door panel. And further I’ve found that when disconnecting and reconnecting those wires, the panel will be unresponsive until you power cycle (unplug/plug back in) the unit.

    Thank you. I will try to address my same problem. I hate this dishwasher and will never, never buy another Samsung. About a year into it, the paint on the door started to bubble from a poor prep job. Samsung gave me a big runaround on that. The thing has never cleaned as well as the old Kitchenaid did. The rubbery type handles for the racks are deteriorating. And now this leak problem. JUNK. DO NOT BUY.

      @@eswing2153 yes. Any calcium buildup is definitely caused by “hard water”. Take it easy on over-softening though. It can cause some negative effects.

    I would like to thank you for providing this insightful and helpful video to enable me to figure out my problem. I, too, cleaned the diaphragm first and while it was nice to know it was clean, it didn't resolve my problem. The second fix you described was my issue and a couple of snips near the plastic drip hole and some styrofoam under the strap cleared up the annoying (and damaging) water leak. And, without question, I will never buy another Samsung appliance. TVs, yes, but my fridge, dishwasher and oven will be the last appliances I purchase from them.

    @robelstro8785 Před 3 lety

    This wasn't the cause of my dripping (the vent flap had become clogged with *nasty stuff* and just needed cleaning), but your video showed me the workings behind the door and gave me confidence to tear apart my model. You also helped me track how the leaks appeared on the floor based on water running down the foam behind those straps.

    Hi Thanks for your video! I have the Samsung dishwasher model is DW800F600UTS. I did take apart the vent cap and yes there was a build up so I clean the vent area and between the diaphragm. I actually replaced my front door seal which was the cause of the main leak. I did some of your updates I used a dremel tool to remove the ridge, hot glue the sponges so they would not fall and put extra sponges to puts the vent system closer to the trough. Thanks for that! However, I am still trying to diagnose a small leak coming from the vent on the far left and far right side of the venting system. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Best Regards Bill

    Son. Of. A. Gun! I actually had the foam issue on both sides, but I snipped the plastic as shown here just in case. Also, instead of putting a wedge between the vent and sheet metal I just bent the metal inward to give it more pressure which worked well. Awesome video! Very smart.
