The man calls this film an abomination! Do your research! He was basically sued into making this movie and couldn't have cared less about any of it. He crafted a story out of nothing because there was no story left to tell. This wasn't the product of someone passionately expanding on their last project; it was the output someone contractually obligated to further the plot of a dead end. John became a drinker because of this script. LMFAO 🤦

I think that the idea of making different version of this movie was to adjust it to the problems we face in our times. 1970 was the time when 2nd vawe feminis was very active and was treated like supposed problem so the idea of plague that will eradicate all women and how men would have to adjust to womanless future. Feminis at that time weas really touchy subject for lot of men, because it was a fresh idea- the concept of women having no rights basically since the beginning and then suddenly everything might change might sound like end of the world for many with that old mindset- which we of course know it didn't, but we know this because it's in the past. So the title might be an alegory to the plague the humanity had suffered and the ending and how immoral people can get for greater purpose. 2022 version might be the comentary on our psychotic chase after perfect bodies and how changing and adjusting our looks to society by literaly cutting ourselves and rearranging our body. And I think that this version might be for us what 1970 was for people then- we absolutely do not know how far we will go in the body modification to achieve our perfect looks.

Danielle Harris revealed in 25 Years of Terror, when her character runs through the neighborhood screaming for help someone legitimately called the cops, "I was banging on doors, yelling for someone to help me, help me, after I got lost trick or treating or something. So, 4 o'clock in the morning, they're hearing a little screaming up the streets, and someone called the cops. The cops came. Then the story ended up in The Inquirer that I was almost kidnapped off of the set." Just so Danielle Harris wouldn't be scared, George P. Wilbur would often lift up his mask between takes to remind her that they were just making a movie and that he was not really going to hurt her. The girl Lindsey who drove Rachel and Jamie to the discount mart was going to be revealed as Lindsey Wallace from Halloween (1978) and have a larger part in the film as Rachel's friend and helping her babysit Jamie, but that was cut for budget reasons. The third boy hanging out with Brady and Wade in the drug store was meant to be Tommy Doyle from the original film. Danielle Harris sold the clown costume to a fan Dwight H. Little did extensive research on the history of Halloween and many of its harvest images were put in the creepy opening sequence. Jamie's name in the original script was Brittan "Britti" Lloyd but was changed in homage to Jamie Lee Curtis. Series creator John Carpenter wrote a treatment for this film that had a more ghostly psychological approach to the Michael Myers mythos. It concerned the town of Haddonfield and what effect the events of the first two films had on its citizens. This concept was later rejected by the producers in favor of the typical slasher fare, at which point Carpenter left out of the film, making this the first in the series to have no participation from him. The mask on the movie poster looks more like the one used in the first two Halloween films than the one in Halloween 4. (Because it is from a still from the second movie) During production of the rooftop chase, Ellie Cornell was injured by a protruding nail as she slid down the roof. After a quick trip to the local hospital she finished the scene with her bandages in place. According to Danielle Harris, "It didn't even faze her." Leaves had to be imported and squash was painted to look like pumpkins. After finishing the film, Danielle Harris kept the clown costume and wore it trick or treating, according to Joe Bob Briggs on his show The Last Drive-In In the schoolhouse, Michael's mask appears, briefly, with blonde hair. This mask was the original type chosen for the film. However, it was decided to go with a design with brown hair, resulting in re-shoots. The mask with brown hair was chosen to match the style seen in the first two films in the series, with the blonde-haired mask appearing only in the schoolhouse sequence. eorge P. Wilbur wore hockey pads under the jumpsuit to give Michael Myers a much more imposing figure. This is revealed in the documentary Inside 'Halloween 5' (2000), where it is revealed that Don Shanks, who played Michael Myers in Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989), was big enough that this was not required. The drugstore set was also used in Stephen King's The Stand (1994). 1988 was the first year in which all 3 of the then top horror franchises (Halloween, Friday the 13th, and A Nightmare On Elm Street) all released new films in the same year: Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood, and A Nightmare On Elm Street 4: The Dream Master. Additionally, the first Child's Play was also released in 1988, as were Hellbound: Hellraiser 2 and Phantasm 2, all of which would also become major horror franchises. The H4 mask has received a primarily mixed reaction from fans. Many have stated that the mask's appearance is too blank. Some have found its expression to be more clown-like than the original. The quality of the mask has also been criticized as it appears more flimsy than the others. Others have praised its emotionless "manufactured" style look, citing its similarity to cheaper store bought masks. When Dr. Loomis asks for Sheriff Brackett at the police station, the deputy says that Brackett retired in 1981. This is a reference to the year of Halloween II's release where Sheriff Brackett was last seen. Film debut of Danielle Harris. This film is the first time Michael Myers is credited with his name, as opposed to bring credited as "The Shape." Due to budgetary reasons, this was the first Halloween film to be shot in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio. Jamie Lee Curtis reportedly had no interest in reprising her role as Laurie Strode. So the fourth film's leading female character Jamie Lloyd was developed as Laurie's daughter and replacement. Laurie herself was supposedly killed in a car accident 11 months before the events of the fourth film. George P. Wilbur is the third tallest actor to play Michael Myers at 6'2½. The film states that Jamie Lloyd is 7 years old. The character is played by 11-year-old Danielle Harris. Having another character wearing a mask and costume identical (or similar) to Michael's was used in Halloween II, Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers, and Halloween Resurrection. For his role as Michael Myers, actor George P. Wilbur was often filmed in mirror reflections or off-center. The audience rarely received a full view of the character, in order to add an air of mystery to the serial killer. The film was shot during March 1988. Practical effects were used to create autumn-like scenery details, such as withered leaves. The film was intended as a direct sequel to "Halloween II" (1981), bringing back major characters from the first two films in the series. The production team decided to ignore events and characters introduced in "Halloween III: Season of the Witch" (1982). Ellie Cornell kept the jean jacket The original filming location and stand in for Haddonfield in the "Halloween" series was Pasadena, California. The production team of the fourth film decided against filming in Pasadena, because it would require an increase in production costs. The filming location for the fourth film was instead Salt Lake City, Utah. Michael doesnt acquire his trademark kitchen knife until 1hr9mins into the film, and he kills only two people with it. The Myers house was not used in this installment This was the first Halloween movie with the highest kill count with 17 people killed by Michael until it was surpassed by Halloween Kills (2021). George P. Wilbur was 47 playing the 31 year old Michael Myers. In the film, serial killer Michael Myers awakes from a coma on October 30, 1988. October 30 (the day before Halloween) is the traditional date for Mischief Night, an informal holiday devoted to jokes, pranks, vandalism and parties. The holiday has been nicknamed "Devil's Night" in Detroit, Michigan, because of its association with a series of arson cases from the 1970s to the early 1990s. The first Halloween movie in which Donald Pleasence stars without Jamie Lee Curtis. George P. Wilbur (Michael Myers) has said in an interview that his favorite kill in the movie is when he kills Kelly Meeker (Kathleen Kinmont) by pinning her to the wall with the shotgun. The scene in which Michael kills the mechanic was originally shown with Michael stabbing the mechanic in the throat with the crowbar it was ultimately cut because it was deemed too gory. Body count: 19 (including the dog) Jamie's dog Sundae is the third dog to die in the series. This is the first movie in the series that Michael Myers kills before October 31st. He murders all four people in the ambulance on the night of October 30th. Michael killing Kelly by pinning her to the wall is similar to how he kills Bob in Halloween (1978), except he pins Bob to the wall with a knife and Kelly with a shotgun. Rudy's death in a later film, Halloween: Resurrection (2002) is also similar, except he's pinned by three knives to a door. Four people in the movie die by getting stabbed: mechanic with a crowbar, Kelly impaled with a shotgun, Al and Orrin both stabbed with a knife.

I actually don't mind teen comedies, and even to some extent I find them appealing, even if it's not my favorite genre. And I think that is by far the best part of the film. Sure the acting is not great, but it does feel like it is real kids, which is rare even in well acted movies. It is one of the most genuine films I've ever seen, even if I think a lot of other slashers of the time are way better films that feel like the story, characters and horror feel a lot more coherent with each other and deliver an effective horror film, but I get why Sleepaway Camp in particular gets attention as it has a special factor that makes people drawn to it. It might be overrated, but it definitely deserves the attention it gets.

I adore that it dovetails from the end of the first movie, being something you rarely see..I saw this one first, as I was too young to be taken to a horror flick in '78. The director so thoroughly copied the camera style and feel of Carpenter's cinematography that they essentially work as part 1 and part 2 of the same Halloween night. Brilliantly done. So well that the realistic feel makes it seen like it could happen to anyone....

    • @thomasffrench3639

I don’t think it was really the director that made it feel like the original. In fact a lot of his dialogue scenes and scenes that feature Michael don’t look much like it did in the original. I think it was mostly Dean Cundey who made the scenes look like they did in the original film. But we don’t really know I guess, it’s just speculation.

I'm not a Cronenberg fan, and I watched this one blind. I thought the 2022 film was just a remake so I preferred to watch the 70s film. At first it was not at all what I was expecting, a mute world from the perspective of Tripod's arguably immoral, but controlled and focused, mind. It is indeed a film for a very specific audience, and I didn't feel like falling asleep, on the contrary, I yearned to see more of this world and what would unfold in Tripod's doomed search for his dead master(and perhaps lover) in every aspect of the depraved society he was part of. I actually thought the world made sense, as pedophilia was even more taboo due to young girls becoming a commodity of science of the highest importance, and how that made subversives even more bold. I liked how you can't help but relate to tripod as he is the only voice in the entire film, but you also question most if not all of his actions. Was it all worth it just to live his master's truth once more, even if distorted and misshapen beyond his original thoughts? Even Tripod recognizes that throughout the film, but still keeps going. Overall I found it to be a very unrewarding but fascinating experience, I couldn't stop thinking about it for days.

I can’t disagree with many the criticisms laid against that film but I think it had more than its fair share of interesting & arresting moments & ideas. I was totally not expecting number 5 and 2 (and for sure not number 1). :D But thanks again for reviewing and presenting some very interesting horror movies and thanks you especially for your perspective on them and the work you put in these videos. Happy new year and as Dr. Venkman says: "See you on the other side!".

have you ever seen Felissa read a book? czcams.com/video/iKAWBuM9pto/video.htmlsi=wV_VKi3-xPOaf5vM guaranteed the weirdest movie she's ever been in. you don't believe me but that's only because you've never heard of it. IMDB says it's her 23rd film but it's really her 6th.

I actually really LIKED Spiral, because I always treated it as an auxiliary story in its own right, so I figured it would be a spin off copycat story. I really liked the movie, I just treated it as its OWN independent movie outside of the actual canon.

It would have been fine as a timeline on its own because the shooting of the eyes was a stopping point. He would be blinded. As much as I love Halloween 4 - he couldn’t have come back. I wasn’t a massive fan of how much was in the hospital - but it’s not bad by any stretch

Very interesting recommendations. It's very pleasing to see, that there are so many very well produced movies out there besides the standard mainstream stuff. I'll definitely check out some of these. Thank you!

I think the reason Carpenter came up with the Laurie and Michael are siblings thing, and he would never admit this, is because it's essentially there in the first movie already. Michael is already fixated on family in 1978. It's a core part of the film, and Laurie being his next target is tied to that thematically. That's why the twist in 2 just became accepted. It's basically already there from the beginning. Taking it out of 2018 was so pointless.

Halloween 2 nearly achieves greatness, but its ending is a letdown. The two shots to the eyes are beyond disappointing, and it's hard to believe he doesn't die from two headshots - it feels absurd. I regret that these moments significantly detracted from the experience, as they could have made the film much more effective with a more plausible approach. Additionally, I must mention my dislike for the mask. In short, it should have remained a single Halloween film. Despite its strengths, the incredibly unrealistic eye shots left me utterly perplexed

It's very much like what Chris Carter was trying to do with The X-Files. Chris Carter's idea was that Mulder and Scully would just be one set of agents. The X-Files could be taken over and perpetuated by either different agents, or a different structured story entirely. Mulder and Scully branded extremely hard into The X-Files. If you could have changed some cast members in S2 and staggered them, it would be more believable. Halloween works as a stand alone film. The fatal mistake was making Halloween II and it NOT being Season of the Witch. It should have been Halloween, Halloween II: Season of the Witch, and then later release Michael Myers Returns or a film entitled Michael Myers to denote a departure from the franchise with a focus on him. It was branded too heavily and deeply with Michael Myers. It's not even a corporate angle. It's about human psychology. You don't take a company like Apple, make computers and phones and then release a toaster. Although I take that back, Apple users would probably go for an iToaster. Maybe that's a bad example. You hopefully get my point. Branding is critical. It's an art. Imagine there's a band that you like that features guitar, bass, keys, etc. Then the next album they make is polka. I actually loved Halloween III, but it was jarring. Basically, if you're going to make an anthology, don't make a freakin sequel continuing the first story right away. Brand it differently.

Call me crazy, but I think Carpenter hated Halloween II because it was a little too good (in its original cut). He then added the extra gore, which was totally unnecessary. Maybe someday we’ll get to see Director Rosenthal’s original cut and we can decide for ourselves.

What is with horror fans hating gore? Halloween 1 didn’t have gore because it was made by a director who didn’t need it, and it was also 1981. Not to mention, it’s really tame, so it’s not like it changes that much
