@sherryleggett1612 thank you! I actually tried that with a christmas decoration once, and i just couldn't get it right- it was my best option, but i still struggled to make it feel stable enough. I was using a piece of dowel, though, because it's what i had at the time. I suspect a wider pipe would have been more ideal!

@lprophit you're right! I have not noticed it before. I was having a lot of trouble with the editing app i used at the time. I suspect that may be the cause. It was incredibly glitchy with long videos and lots of edits. So sorry!

Thank you! I don't use blending solution very much at all. If I'm working on ceramic dishes, I might use a little then. Otherwise, it's still just isopropyl. Yes, I do dilute my brass. I have a small needle tipped bottle that i use, so it's always ready to go. I am terrible with amounts, but my guesstimate would be about a quarter to a third of brass, and the rest isopropyl (mine is 100%). I think the grafix paper is lovely to use- if i was only allowed to pick one, I'd probably choose that. They really do all have their place, however. Some inks break out beautifully into multiple colours better on yupo than grafix (the joys of dye). But I also love the convenience of the nara rounds. I get annoyed having to cut it up myself 🤭 But I'm also limited to the size I can get in the grafix paper, so I bounce between all 3. 😄

I know how ill I have made myself when I was none the wiser in my beginner days! It's an incredibly awful feeling, and one that is definitely not worth ignoring! There are still people that don't take it as seriously as I think they should, but all it takes is a quick google search to know the vapours are harmful ❤️

In this video, i used Grafix paper. I got it from amazon. It's probably the best at minimal staining. Copic ink in black has stained all my papers, so they aren't 100% flawless, but it's the best so far 👌

Unfortunately the acrylic mediums are incompatible with the alcohol. Alcohol is a solvent and it works unfavourably with acrylic mediums- you'll get a clumpy, goopy mess.

Thanks so much! ❤ You can leave the art for a day before you use the kamar and it'll be fine. I have sealed it the same day when I've been in a time crunch though, and everything was fine. Give it a day before using resin after that as well. People say some things need to 'gas off' so I figure the 24 hours gives it some breathing time. 😊

Thank you! Copic are my favourites, and Ranger are a close second. I like the colour range and thwy move well. There have been some cheap inks in the past that have moved a little oddly to me, so I have settled on those brands. Pinata is also very good, I just don't tend to reach for their colours, unless it's the brass. 😊

Thank you! Your mask needs to be for VOC's. A particulate mask is not going to be adequate, as it filters vapours differently to particles

You're going to have to experiment with that. Truthfully, you can't use "too much" because the solutions are made specifically for alcohol inks anyway, it's more about how much mica you prefer in your mix (which really doesn't need to be much at all).

You can add in some alcohol if you like, yes. You can also make the mix with the solution, and then work on your substrate with just iso too. Just remember if you flood with too much, you might have some mica dusting/transference again if you over dilute. ❤️

I have heard the hairspray suggestion, but I don't use it. I already had the proper product, so I didn't need to attempt it with hairspray. I am curious as to how it would hold up longer term, in comparison to the branded ink solutions in the video, though. I also don't love the idea of spraying the aerosol into a cup of fine mica powder, which is another reason I've refrained from bothering.

You mean non-iridescent pigment, such as oxides? I have not, but let your curiosity guide you, and test it out!

Thanks for subscribing! Yes, that will work. You can ink directly onto pre-gessoed canvas, you can seal it with any kind of clear medium if you prefer, too (i used to use diluted gloss medium), USA inkers would often use kilz as an option. The inks will never move the same as they do on yupo or ceramic, but they will still work on canvas. That's a slightly different learning curve, though. It just feels different, and you'll notice it in comparison.

Thank you Cecelia! The inks i use are made by the brands Copic and Ranger. My favourite metallic is brass, by Pinata. I use Yupo, Grafix and Nara papers (in this particular video, i used Nara). I buy 100% isopropyl aclohol to move the inks, but if you can't get it that pure, anything above 90% will be fine. Make sure you wear a respirator suitable for toxic vapours when you work with inks! ❤️

Hi Marilyn, no it isn't. I use Yupo, Nara and Grafix as my main synthetic papers, i also like to ink on ceramic/porcelain too. If you're wanting to explore, just remember anything that is non-porous is good game!
