So I say I just get used engines and if it's a v8, change the oil if it has over 150k miles and use a 15w40 oil. Check things out besides your other fluids and the vehicle will last, I've had motors go to 300,1?? then rod knock.

You just have to think about the type of driving you do and how often you do it. My engine is still alive but I only drive when I absolutely need to drive, it has 200k miles on it now and I use 15w40 diesel oil yes its full synthetic to help it move faster at start up during winter months even though my area don't see the 20s or teens during Christmas time and the holidays as that is when it's cold and freezing in some areas.

@Kneble's Auto Service Center Quick question... if I have 30 days from the last day of the month on my current inspection sticker how would anyone know this if they removed it when I failed inspection? I actually just moved to NJ from PA and recently completed work on my car. I took it to the state inspection and only failed because the 02 sensors and evap were in not ready status. It is currently 6/9/24 and I failed inspection 6/7/24 but my sticker was good till 7/31/24. Why would they remove my inspection sticker that was valid till the end of next month and literally tell me to "drive around for 150 miles and come back" knowing that I can get an expensive ticket for driving around with a rejected sticker? If they know I only failed for that reason shouldn't it be left on so that I can complete the drive cycle or is the state that interested in extorting my pockets?

I would get the aftermarket part if it's a known aftermarket brand (like Dorman) but not for a generic knockoff. But depends on the criticality of the component.

I just tried registering a snowmobile that never got registered from 2 previous buyers. They rode it on private property. So, registration not required. My bill of sale was from a person not on the title. The first seller signed William but on the tital it says Bill. The DMV wants me to track down Bill and get a letter from him stating that he’s William and Bill. Then I have to track down the second buyer and signed seller. It’s an old snowmobile.

Oils become thinner and thinner. Thank you ecologists. Pressure to decrease the fuel consumption, even if it costs prematurely decommissioned engines. Every year new norm for ICEs. Nobody will tell me that oil of viscosity of water will better lubricate than regular oil, let's say 10W40. Or oil 5W30 will damage engine supposed to work, by manufacturer, on 0W16. Most of us live in warmer climate than Alaska. We don't have winters with -40 degrees. But in summer time they want us to use 0W16, when ambient temperature is near 100, on turbo engine where oil can reach temperature 270- 300 degrees F.

Service engine soon light is progrmmed to illuminate pn a predetermined amount of milage or time. Usually 3000 miles, which is half the time most new oil formulas last. Remove the bulb and forget about it.

they ate my dads wires under the hood on his park avenue. i have pepermint oil and a hair sprayer bottle. i wonder if you can spray your engine filter with it and if that would keep them away as well and your cabin air filter spray that too maybe if a fly does fly in and won't leave now that it is getting colder maybe they will decide to go someplace else. Who knows i do spray it around inside my car have not tried it under the hood yet as your are driving in the rain then what happens? it all gets washed off but the engine filter? i don't think that get's washed away so easily.
