DRUIDS and the largest act of HUMAN SACRIFICE in Britain
Druids are often thought of as peaceful and in touch with nature, but there was much Greco-Roman narrative to suggest these people, the leaders of the Celtic tribes, were barbaric savages. In this video I'll look at the narratives about the Druids, and will interpret a passage by Tacitus that would suggest they took part in the largest ritual of human sacrifice we know about in Britain.

Great video, I'm glad i found your channel! I have never heard this interpretation, but it makes a lot of sense to me given what we know and what has survived. The burning beach is a helluva image, like something from D-Day, and it occurs to me that maybe they were raising their arms to also connect to the air itself, and on a burning beach thats a liminal space for all four. This video also made me wonder about the Druids passivity, and if that was somehow connected to their belief in reincarnation, similar to how Buddhists and Jains believe in nonviolence. Great stuff, bud.

The idea of Proto-indo Europeans is complete fiction, there is no evidence for any such thing. This idea was created by modern European racialist nationalism. It was created to discredit the out of Africa paradigm and as a way of creating a separate and fictional origin of "white" people. The problem for this fiction is that the gene for "whiteness" is approximately only about 6,000 years old.

The latest research is suggesting there were no Druids in Britain. There was a religious class in Britain and Ireland, as in most cultures at the time but Druidism was specifically limited to the continent. None of the practices that we see carried out in Europe have been witnessed or documented in any parts of the British Isles. There may not even be a link between any of the religious classes of the British tribes..

Interesting vid. I suppose the most frustrating aspect of Celtic history is its most fascinating; they left no written records. The etymology of the word Druid is no exception. The accepted word in modern Welsh is Derwydd, which is an agglutination of Der=Oak and wydd=knowledge (or sometimes presence). So an accepted explanation for the etymology of Druid is oak-knower, although other etymologies shouldn’t be discounted. Not to be ignored is the enigmatic way the Celts named (or rather didn’t name) their natural environment. The very etymology of oak in the Celtic languages deserves attention: In Welsh oak is Derw while we see the obvious cognomate of Dair in Irish. However, PIE hypothesis offers Daru as an ancient word meaning tree, the root of which can be seen in modern European languages (compare Dereva in Ukrainian, derevo in Russian). Could it be then that the ancients held the oak in such high regards that they simply called it ‘tree’? We know that there were caveats around their system of nomenclature and it’s also apparent they held philosophically mystic beliefs. We must postulate also that the name Druid might not have anything to do with oak in its etymology. In modern Welsh the word drûd means expensive or dear, but it’s original meaning differed; it carried the meaning of elite or exalted etc. we see this meaning fossilised in the name Cerrigydrudion (cerrig y drudion) in County Conwy, North Wales. The meaning is the Stones of the Exalted Ones which is pertinent as excavations of a barrow there unearthed pieces of a golden crown. So we might conclude the word Druid to mean an elite of some description. The one thing that makes the second explanation problematic is the element ‘uid’ in the word Druid, as it almost certainly carries the meaning of know or knowledge, so the Brythonic Derwydd may be the correct meaning. Who knows!

10:00 A much more common name for "Elyon" is "El". It sometimes appears as "El Elyon" (e.g. Genesis 14). Elyon ("the most high") is actually a rare honorific adjective rather than the name. "El" might be confusing because in biblical Hebrew and ancient Canaanite it also means any "god" (illu in Akkadian, alla in Arabic) . But it is also the proper name of The Creator God in the ancient Canaanite religion. He is very well known from Ugaritic myth (which to my knowledge never calls him Elyon) in 15th century BC. He is already depicted there as ancient and peacefully retiring in favor of his son Baal. The citation you show from Deuteronomy is one indication that Yahweh like Baal was originally considered one of the many sons of El. This is also the El in many biblical names like Israel, Michael, Gabriel, Rafael, Elijah, etc. But NOT in "Elyon" because this is written with a different letter (על meaning "over" or "higher" rather than אל meaning "a god"). Edit: 12:38 you mention El as a Mesopotamian god but I never heard that he was. To my knowledge he was a Canaanite and ancient Isralistic god.
