This was not my favorite season by a long shot, but the finale episode was very well done and had a lot of sweet moments, as you said--and I very much enjoyed your reactions to the season. Looking forward to seeing what other reactions you will do going forward. Personally I'm not at all into horror, so I will avoid those, but I'm sure you'll give us a good mix of other genres, too. I don't have any sense at all yet of what movies you've seen and what you might be interested in, but I'll throw something random out there just to see what you think: Have you ever watched the movie Erin Brockovich with Julia Roberts from the year 2000? Great film, and a true story. If you haven't seen it I think you might enjoy it and I'd love to see you react to it.

Loved your reaction! So excited for Benedict’s season, I loved his book. It’s sort of a Cinderella retelling. I heard several rumors that Sophie will be Asian, played by a Japanese actress, love to see it! Francesca’s season will be quite interesting, in her story she marries John’s cousin Michael years later, but they’ve switched it to Michaela, so her story will be interesting! I think her season will probably be S6 after Eloise, it just seems like Francesca’s story will take some time to establish.

Next season is Benedict's story but the actors for Pen and Colin both said they will be back for season 4. The showrunner also said she is eager to write stories in season 4 showing a happy Colin and Penelope being parents, so they won't go away like Simon & Daphne did.

Coming to Lady Danbury’s defense….. 1st if she was trained/prepared to marry her husband since the age of 3 yo did she have the mindset to want to runaway? (Queen Charlotte). But if she did have the mindset to runaway she could have been married at the start of her menses because at that age she could have children. Her husband was significantly older than she in Queen Charlotte and I would’ve wanted to run away too!!

I was also shocked how Colin was more hurt and emotional rather than angry, but then I realized we've seen in the past with Marina that when Colin is angry he doesn't get aggressive, he becomes emotional. That is how he deals with anger. I also thought that he forgave her rather quickly as well, but then I thought about it and figured that for the sake of their wedding day and after Kate's talk with Colin, he was willing to put his pride and anger/hurt to the side in order to have a love filled, happy wedding day...but then that all came crashing down when the Queen crashed their wedding and threatened the Bridgerton family. I agree that Colin and Pen's issues are way bigger and more external than the other couples. This issue not only threatens their marriage/love but also the lives of Colin's entire family. I also think Colin's jealousy of Pen being a writer stems from insecurity about Colin finding his true purpose in life. At this moment, Colin thinks he has finally found a purpose to his life after Pen really encouraged him and told him his writing was good, but now that he found out she has lied to him time and time again, I think he is now thinking everything she told him was a lie and that she was gaslighting him in order to entrap him. Remember Colin has trauma about being tricked and entrapped into a fraud of a marriage by Marina, a woman who he thought loved him, which is where that entrapment comment came from earlier ...he is now questioning everything about his relationship with Pen. (Also remember Pen only told Colin that Marina previously loved another guy and then was interrupted, if you really look at that scene Pen really didn't try that hard to tell Colin that Marina was pregnant, I think it was because she was scared that Colin would still choose Marina, so instead she chose to write it in LW because if Marina's reputation was ruined than the Bridgertons would never let him marry Marina, so she took Colin's choice away from him). Also going back to the jealousy thing...I don't think it is jealousy in terms of Colin thinking Pen can't be a brilliant writer because she's a woman, he knows how clever and brilliant she is, I think it is jealousy in terms of not being able to bring anything to their relationship. Colin I think is struggling to find out what role and where his position is in the relationship....which is why he follows that conversation up with "then what good am I to you?" In order for Colin to have been loved in the past it was always conditional on what he can provide someone...Marina would only love him based on him providing financial security for her, his family only seem to treat him well based conditionally on what he does for them....they never want to listen to his travel stories and they even mock him for his interests and being a sensitive person, so it is easy to see how Colin thinks that he has to provide something to Pen in order to be worthy of a relationship with her, which is so so sad. I also LOVE how Colin and Benedict have practically adopted Will and John into their family so quickly. Colin and Benedict are probably the two most open and accepting Bridgertons in the family. Colin was the first to bring patrons to Will's club to make is successful, and Colin was the first to get up and congratulate John and Francesca on their engagement, he is always striving to welcome and accept everyone.

Did you watch Queen Charlotte? There is a whole-ass backstory for Lady Danbury. She was forcibly married to a disgusting, rotted, evil old man who basically r@ped her daily. She tried to escape the night before. Her little brother told and she got caught.

I think the conflict with Daphne and Simon is easier to resolve than the one between Colin and Penelope. The problems in Penelope's and Colin's relationship is at least.... 50% external. So it is messier and touches more people. But Simon's problems were.... Fundamental, ALL internal. Incredibly private, but much more difficult to resolve, in practice.

34:56 the I don't think I really ever felt settled how I feel about Lady Bridgerton and her feelings towards Kilmartin and Francesca's match. But having recently rewatched 2005 P&P, I think Lady Bridgerton's feeling that she may be unable to adequately defend their match to the Queen is similar to Mr Darcy's advice to Mr Bingley about moving on from his possible match with Jane. Lady bridgerton's hesitation at her ability to defend their match may stem from the fact that she doesn't know if she can SEE their love; even if she can see that Francesca is happy in her match. I think she's uncertain that she knows how to defend a marriage that doesn't look like it's based on 'love' as she knows it. Do I think they portrayed that possibility on the screen well? No. I don't think many people could come to a solid seeming conclusion on why her acceptance of their match is tinged with hesitation.

I felt bad because I really remember now how hard of a first watch Bridgeton can be sometimes😂 Like I'm a Polin lover, great fan of season 3, but even my first watch through was pretty rough. But with re-watches this is the most romantic, best episode.... Probably of the whole show for me. I used to love the drama in episode 1x3, 1x4, or 1x6 but they don't really feel like anything once you've watched season 3 a bunch and then go back! People like the simplicity and focus of season 1, but it feels so more hollow after watching season 3 🩷👰🏻‍♀️💒💓 ...

That would be hilarious if Edwina's new husband is Debling. But I don't think it is.

The amount of nudity shown was 100% up to the actors. The actors themselves said that everything they showed and did on screen was completely up to them. Every touch and movement was pretty much choreographed by the actors. They really wanted it to show how Pen is a virgin and nervous and that Colin, while experienced, he really wants to make Pen feel comfortable and wants her enjoy the experience, which is also the most intense and emotional experience for Colin as well. This was also Nicola Coughlan's first intimate scene on this scale, so what was shown was up to her. They also needed the blanket for ratings purposes...they cannot show full frontal on a male or female without a specific rating..so they used the blanket to help cover those areas. I totally agree with you about Eloise. She is very self centered. I think she is acting this way because she feels like she is being left behind. Pen and Colin have found each other and Eloise is just like a child having to stay home.

Colin came back with this rake persona this season because he spent the first two seasons being either taken advantage of or mocked for his sweet, romantic, enthusiastic nature. So he's put on armor, and is "trying to feel less, trying to be the man society expects" in his own words. If you're interested, Sammy Bates did an amazing character analysis of Colin (and one of the Polin relationship) on her channel. It's really well done and eye-opening. A lot of people miss the more subtle nuances of his characterization, and it's resulted in some people really misunderstanding Colin and his motivations this season. I really appreciate your nuanced take on the situation between Penelope and Colin. A lot of people are quick to hate him for his comment at the end of season 2. I get being upset at it, especially since it hurt Penelope so much, but she was never open about her feelings for him, and he wasn't saying it to hurt her. One offhand comment shouldn't be enough to negate their entire friendship or ruin his character in our eyes. Plus, as soon as it was brought to his attention, he immediately owned up to it, apologized, and sought to make amends. What really bugs me is that so many of the people who hate him for that comment are the same people defending Penelope for doing essentially the same thing to him by calling him out in front of their entire society as Lady Whistledown. And then calling him a baby when he doesn't just get over it immediately. Anyway, I digress... all that to say, I really appreciate your ability to see both sides!

It's so funny how you aren't getting that heat and spicy 🔥 feeling with Colin and Pen as you did with Kate & Anthony. I felt nothing when it came to Kate & Anthony, I only felt annoyance with their relationship. Maybe the Enemies to Lovers storyline isn't my thing...I think I'm way more of a Friends to Lovers storyline girl. Colin & Pen's relationship has a very different passion feeling, it is more cute and has an "about time" feeling since they've known each other so long and as viewers we've all known they belonged together and now it's finally happening. I think I also prefer a more sensitive character like Colin, who loves love just like Pen does. They both crave romance and that feeling of being each other's person, that unconditional love feeling. I never felt like Simon & Daphne nor Kate & Anthony have that unconditional love, but I feel it with Colin & Pen, I feel like they understand each other on a level none of the previous couples do. They way their looks to each convey like an entire conversation just speaks so much to me! Looooving your reactions, keep them up! ❤

Lady Tilley Arnold is younger than Lady Bridgerton. Both are stunning, and imo are ripe, and not too old to court. Actually, I think no woman is ever too old to court.

How you feel is completely valid about this point of the season. Colin & Penelope are a very almost opposite kind of story to Anthony and Kate. Anthony and Kate carry heavy responsibilities in their family. Pen and Colin are almost to throw away characters of theirs. For Colin, not in a mean way, but in a way that has made him feel like it's harder to feel like a ...MAN!! But that dichotomy alone sets up how different their love COULD look. So that's part of what I love about this season. The fact that their most intimate, spicy scenes are ones that I would also overall described as "cute". Nicola said this season was about the romance and ”for the wallflowers”. She hit the nail right on the head. But for most, I think it's perfectly reasonable to be drawn towards fiery potential easier than to the warmth of Home and hearth that I think comes with a friends to lovers romance. For one to like Pen and Colin's story, a person has to LOVE love. And that has to be the entertainment. But people who find it INTERESTING TO WATCH people fall in love, that's a different season for you. ❤ Either Way Keep Up Those Reactions 😊

Yes, his eyes are a beautiful dark blue. The lighting of the show doesn't do them justice. You can see them in some scenes. I think they are more noticeable in the other seasons.

Im not defending pen, but eloise is not innocent! Why should pen have to give up what she loves because eloise can't keep her nose out of other people's business. Nobody told her to go look for lady whistledown. I really do love eloise, but i also think she is very self-centered. If pen would have written about theo, it would have been bad for him aswell. Pen is not innocent, she could have told eloise that she was lady whistledown so she would stop looking for her. It all comes down to the both of them being in the wrong. Eloise was reckless.

I love love love your reactions. You are sooo funny and honest in your breakdowns! However, I think a lot happened in this episode, not plot wise per say but I think it was a HUGE character building and relationship building episode for Colin. You really see all of that fake persona that Colin has been putting on with everyone really drop when he is with Penelope. You also get to see that Colin is actually pretty lonely, in his journal he just keeps writing how he feels alone and distant during his sexual experiences. Then on top of that you really see how much Colin seeks out Pen and really enjoys spending time with her, he also cares about what Pen is thinking and feeling, and really boosts her confidence. For a man of this time to really care what a woman wants, feels and thinks about....that is a rare thing. Also every time Pen makes a bad remark about herself he is quick to shut that negative thinking down. He truly sees how wonderful she is and hates that she doesn't see herself that way. It is also interesting to see how Colin and Pen seem to be the most comfortable around each other, they joke, laugh and have witty banter together....also you see that Colin isn't afraid to get angry at Pen, that shows a level of comfortability with one another because with someone you just met I feel like it is harder to show them that side of you. You also totally clocked Jealous playing...I think Colin seeing Pen laugh and have a good conversation with Lord Remington about gossip really hit Colin in the face...he totally starting getting jealous of someone else being able to make her laugh like he did a few minutes earlier with the dead horse joke. I think that kiss at the end was that lightbulb moment for him realizing that what he has been feeling for Pen is more than just a friendship and that the emotional connection he has been seeking in all his sexual escapades in France and the brothels has been in front of him all along. I look forward to the rest of your reactions, I can't wait to laugh out loud at your commentary and analysis!!!

Season 3: Here we go. This is a very polarizing season, and your theories are interesting. I am curious to see how you feel about this season by the end. This isn't my favorite season at all. There are some interesting choices this season, but I know I will enjoy your reactions. One thing I will say is that the only way Benedict could get Anthony's title is if Anthony died and he and Kate have no sons at the time of his death. All Benedict can do is look after things in Anthony's absence, but the title is always his.
