I think you should offer advice and support and not strongly recommend people don't install a child lock on the front seat. As you are very well aware every disability is unique and not everyone who pulls door handles do so because they're out of control. Some people are under control but simply pull the handles because they need to, as they are receiving sensory feed back and input from the noise it makes when it's flicked. Helps them regulate in the car.

A relative who has advanced dementia rides in the front seat due to care sickness. She is not disruptive and holds the stationary handle on the door while driving but becomes confused and grabs the door handle that opens the door by mistake. This has happened on more than one occasion while the vehicle is moving. It is not intentional and although she is reminded to not grab the handle, she does not remember. She enjoys car rides and we would like to find a safe solution for the future.

Thanks for the video Ali. The Carrot 3000 and other special purpose car seats which are available in Australia may require the combined use of the ISOFIX fixation AND vehicle seatbelt to maintain a user’s safety. This is by design and should not be ignored! Important to consider that information which relates to “off the shelf” restraints in Australia can often be quite different to that for products designed for users with disabilities. In this instance, using a special purpose car seat with just ISOFIX may result in incorrect installation of the product and could be putting the occupant in danger. Whenever installing a car seat, mainstream or special purpose, always check the instruction manual and follow this!

It is just a bit to long for my garage , but luckily it is a double garage so park at an angle so it stays 99% of the time . Getting it on and off on your on is relatively easy . Once you get the balance right by lowering the platform it slides out and back in reasonably easy . Need the bolts in the slots though . However , i wouldn't be moving it very far from where you removed it from the car

  • @No-One-of-Consequence

As mental health continues to decline in America and society is becoming more dangerous, I think there needs to be more options and places to keep people "locked up" from harm either from or to others or themselves, as much as an unpopular opinion as this is. I myself might choose to go to a locked facility when I get old and I am unable to care for myself (I have no family to take care of me). When people think "locked up", they immediately think jail or prison or that the person being locked is a criminal, and there is a big stigma attached to it . Jails and prisons are usually the last place a typical person suffering from mental illness and has not committed a serious crime should be put in, and usually these places will make their condition much worse. This is why we need proper facilities for people who need to be locked up but are not criminals. And there are people who actually want to be locked up for reasons other than to satisfy some fetish.

First of all, some Mitsubishi Triton vehicles have a passenger side airbag disable switch. Second, airbags for small children are usually lethal when they deploy, either breaking their neck, or if they are sitting higher, crushing their ribs, both of which usually lead to death. I have no idea why its illegal in this situation to disable the airbag. Applying for approval to disable an airbag can be done, but it is a very big hassle, with lots of paperwork requiring an engineers request as well as one from the owner, or in this case the passenger, or passenger's carer, then approval from the state authority. An airbag that is disabled usually needs to be active every time the vehicle starts, requiring it to be disabled by button push EVERY engine start. Its a lot of hassle, and usually not worth the trouble, however, I'd consider not putting any of my children in the front seat, just for their safety.
