Hamilton Marsh near Qualicum Beach, BC is a gorgeous wetland area. It's the largest wetland between Nanaimo, Port Alberni, and Cumberland and the most prolific waterfowl brood marsh in this part of the Island. It is also the largest body of water in the French Creek Watershed. Over 120 species of bird has been recorded and more than 70 species of dragonfly. The marsh is a hidden gem just ten minutes from Qualicum Beach.
For forty years local citizens have endeavoured to have it preserved -- owners have included: MacMillan Bloedel, Weyerhauser, Brascan and it is currently owned by Island Timberlands. Hamilton Marsh with Dax Dasilva and Lynne Brookes

Dax Dasilva's contributions towards preserving the French Creek Estuary was amazing. Hardworking volunteers were so appreciative of his generosity in contributing a $1 M gift toward conservation of the estuary land. He has a heart for nature and full awareness that we share this planet and its ecosystems with wildlife. Lynne Brookes well known local environmentalist and member of the Hamilton Marsh Committee, shared her knowledge with him.
