"파바로티와 친구들"은 약20년 전에 처음 보았어요. 지금 보니 화질도 흐릿한 동영상이었지만, 당시에는 마치 콘서트 현장에서 보는 듯한 느낌이었어요. 모니터 속으로 빨려들어갈 듯 콘서트 내내 정신줄을 놓고 보았던, 정말이지 인생 최애 콘서트였습니다. 덕분에 성악에 대한 편견(고루하다, 그들만의 음악이다)이 사라지고, 클래식을 비롯하여 크로스뮤직, 가요 등 다양한 음악을 열린 마음으로 듣는 계기가 되었습니다. 이런 콘서트가 또 있다면 좋겠지만, 파바로티 아저씨가 아니면 느낌이 많이 다르겠죠? 파바로티 아저씨, 하늘에서 잘 계시죠?

Sadly, Engelbert has aged tremendously now. The handsome, gorgeous, charismatic man that he was decades ago is gone. Why do we all have to age? The 80’s-90’s was when he was simply outstanding with his looks.

Păcat că sunetul lasă mult de dorit. Dar și așa ai rămas cu amintirea concertului și asta contează. În concert sunt prea multe alămuri și asta face ca melodiile să fie mai mult gălăgie și mai puțin muzică.
