Murray, your yard has always been beautiful, and you found a way to make it more beautiful. And you did it yourself. Thanks for the video tour. The reason The Town cleaned up that area is you made The Town look bad. Good for you to get The Town to clean it up. What an inspiration you have always been for The Town and all who have crossed paths with you. Take care , Murray! Jerry Di Carlo
Awesome job Uncle Murray!

Love it, Murray! You make me smile! Thanks for posting. Jerry
Hi Murray! That house you pointed out is not Mt. Hope, on Cheverly Circle. It is behind the house where the carved tree is, up on top of the hill. Where Cheverly Ave and Euclid Street meet and you made the left on Euclid Street, the entrance drive way to Mt Hope is across Cheverly Avenue from Euclid St. I know this because I went to school with Bill Gast who lived there , and had been to his house a few times . That was in the 1950s. The elementary school classes all took field trips to Mt Hope. It had an ice house or well, and I remember it was an old house, while all the other houses in Cheverly, were newer. I'm not criticizing, only correcting . Changing the official seal of Cheverly, is changing history. Because who will care where the original landowner's house was located or what it looked like? It was a mansion, they claimed was a plantation. .How about a farm, that sold wood, grew corn and tobacco or produce and supported the local economy. I don't know. I wasn't around then. The image offended the new mayor , I was told. Google; " Mt. Hope, Cheverly, Md." Your love of Cheverly is obvious, Murray. Nice narration, nice music, you are a great guy for documenting these rides through Cheverly. Keep 'em coming. I think I'll go watch a Murray Green Drumming video now. Love YOU! Jerry
You're an inspiration to many younger drummers….. Thank you!
Ini macam sir 👍

@@murraygreen1065 Holy shit
Love the music, Mr. Green!
Beautiful town, great place to grow up!
Good job, Murray, making this for all of us, and narrating it, also. I can add that before Rt. 50 was built, there was two narrow bridges, single file, known locally as The Twin Bridges, ( barely wide enough for one car in each direction) that went to Columbia Park Rd ., past where the Metro is, and past South Cheverly. Where the 7/11 is now, was a gravel lot with a barber shop . Then across from the elementary school on Tuxedo Rd., was Sam's DGS ( District Grocery Store), with old wood floor and the smell of old meat ( he had a Deli case and butchered cuts of meat in the back room) . Down Tuxedo Road on the right was Johnson's TV Repair Shop ( Hi Pat!). Further down on the left side of Tuxedo Road was the ESSO gas station, where Roy Clark of Hee Haw jammed with Smokey, the gas station owner, on Friday nights, (as I was told). On the same side was a Wonder Bread Distributor. Next to that was The Variety Fair , then The Friendly Inn was built next to that after the old fire house was torn down and the new one built. Across the street from the firehouse was a dry cleaner business that burned down in the 1950s, and on the right of that was a Sinclair gas station, that later became a bus parking lot as Tuxedo "progressed" away from being a tiny town. If you kept going towards Kenilworth on Tuxedo Road , the road didn't go under the train bridge , it went over the freight train tracks on a steep incline. And on the right was the green houses that R. Pierce mentioned in his comment, ( Hi, Roger . and , Thanks for your Tribute video to Bladensburg Class of '68). I had to write this, for those my age, who grew up here. I still live in Cheverly . It will be 70 years in May 2023. I played in the hole that was dug to build the Cheverly pool. And I played in the woods before Rt . 50 was built and watched the machines build that highway. A lot of fun growing up here and being here this long. I was 2 years old when my parents moved in 1953. Hello, everybody! Hope you are all doing well....... Thanks again , Murray! Jerry Di Carlo
Interesting trip into the past! You went by my parent's old house on Crest Avenue. There were plenty of places to sled, one was Forest Road (very steep) and up at the hospital, anywhere with a slight hill was open as long as the road wasn't busy. Tuexdo sure has changed!
Two points I'd like to make, one about the train line that was there long before Metro, and the other about Tuxedo. So about the train line, the trains running between Baltimore and DC went by Cheverly, and a commuter train would stop at Cheverly to pick up government workers before 8am, and drop them off at the end of the day, after 5pm. There was no station along the tracks at Cheverly. There was a bridge leading to South Cheverly, over the tracks, that the train would stop under. My father was one of those people who rode the commuter train on weekdays. He'd walk from our house on Carlyle Street to catch the train to Union Station, and get off the train to walk to the Library of Congress. If the weather was rainy, my mother might pick him up in our car at the end of the day. That was in the late 40s, the 50s and 60s. (She also worked at the Library before they were married, and lived in apartments in DC, before buying a new house in Cheverly.) Dozens of other men took the train into DC. My parents moved to Cheverly in 1948, and left in 1992 (they hated to leave). During the Depression years, DC attracted a lot of young people looking for work from all over the country. My father came from Massachusetts, and my mother from North Dakota. About Tuxedo, there used to be a number of glass greenhouses there that grew bedding plants and tomato starts commercially. As a 1950s kid, one of my best friends lived in an old Victorian style home in Tuxedo that had a good sized greenhouse attached to the south side of the house, and had formerly been a commercial operation. Across the street was another glass greenhouse where you could still buy plants in the 1950s. The greenhouses were torn down and replaced by other commercial busineses sometime in the 1960s. . . . and thanks for the drive around Cheverly, even though the view out the window could have been better in focus.
I think your camera is fooled by the raindrops.
Fantastic! Love the energy and vitality! Bravo
I also hope to reach your age and play with the same determination!
Ha ha! Love this guy! Great ending. Does not look 91 either, that's for sure.

@@murraygreen1065 I enjoy seeing you play
Murray what a fine fine drummer you are. You mentioned you could not read music? So what Buddy could not read and you hear how great he sounds. You are my friend a most definite creative drummer. I can not believe you are the age of 85. You do more than one thousand drummers out there today. A gift and a treasure belongs to you. Oh by the way see if you agree with me? Dug the living hell out of Buddy Rich doing Surry with the Fringe on Top 1960 circa at Birdland. oh man that was the first time I heard our idol Buddy Rich. I was in high school at the time playing in the symphonic orchestra Big Band and marching band and then after Viet Nam played in a Senior Drum and Bugle corps but but but Buddy did so much more in drumming. Murray you are a dedicated musician and keep on playing that Buddy Rich style. your Buddy BOOM
Great job Uncle Murray!
Thank Joshua, did not realize it was you when I skimmed over the posts. Sorry about that. Hope all is well. No complaints here and Aunt Esta is holding her own with the Alzheimer. Give our best and be safe all of you
I am a fellow veteran fellow drummer who is a Buddy Rich fan from the word go. I served in Vietnam circa 1967/ your drumming is so fantastic its hard to explain. You must have studied drumming at a very young age? i first started listening to gene krupa when I was a kid. and of course Louie Bellson Jack Sperling and Shelly Manne and the list goes on and on. I really dig and admire you keep that Buddy Rich drive going on and on and your ride cymbal and bass drum and technique are really something. I first heard Buddy in 1960 when he had Mike Maneri and Sam Most on vibes. That chart surrey with the fringe on top really made me get into admiring Buddy so so so much. Saw Buddy and his Band in Atlanta Georgia 1968 and man besides West Side he did Diabolus. a bunch of guys from the Army Band were there and I saw their heads turn around completely when Buddy did Diabolus. any way you are a fine fine fine tremendous drummer. Did you ever play in a drum and bugle corps? I did for ten years and learned new rudiments besides the 26. Cheese a diddles Wind Mills and Mary Janes. all those new ones,. But our Buddy did all those and did not know what they were called? thanks for drumming and I am a fan of yours Murray Green. your buddy BOOM
Thanks for the very kind words Ray. I began in my teens back in the 40s and influenced by Gene K. Played with a very small group of friends and practiced in the public school music room. The echo was terrible... We had one gig at a hotel in the Catskill Mts of N.Y over a weekend... And one audition for Arthur Godfrey Talen Show on TV but the Group never got called back. Both were great experiences especially in my late teens. After that I left home for WashDC and a job at age 20. Drumming put on the back burner especially going into the Army 6 months later during the Korean War. Upon discharge in 53 got married, had kids and back to my old job. Many decades later I got back into drumming and influenced by Buddy R. Blew me away.... My son was a rock drummer also with a small group but we lost him at his age of 40. Played a few times with his group who did a jazz number just for me. I was 70 at the time. Played some open mics around town and a gig at a local pub. After that just settled in to playing in the recroom and doing videos for my entertainment. I don\t read Ray so never got to play with a big band; my one desire before I check out. hi. What with rock taking over and big bands at a minimum plus not reading that is a dream that will most likely pass me by....In any event great playing along with the great one.. Take care, be safe Ray and again thanks. Thanks for your service bud.. Ciao
love it
