Reasons Why Good Employees QUIT
Reasons why good employees quit tend to be closely related to bad managers and a poor company culture. In this video I discuss 5 reasons why good employees leave, quitting their employers and companies. Good employees leave bad managers, a poor company culture and work environment. But there is more to why employees are quitting.
Whether companies like hearing this or not, but good employees tend to be much more inclined to leave rather than poor performers. Because those would typically stay and won’t bother going through the effort of leaving. 75% of 10.000 workers questioned, which voluntarily left their jobs, left because of their bosses and not because of the position itself. Employees don’t leave companies, they leave bad managers and I’ve repeated this consistently in my videos, because this is a number one motivator that gets people to look for other opportunities.
It’s a well proven fact that the happiness of the employee directly impacts on employee’s productivity. What are common reasons making good employees unhappy? Unhappy to the point of leaving the company. After years of experience in corporate HR, there would be frequent reasons why good employees quit and find out what companies must do to make their good employees stay.

    What if you have a situation where you are being harassed by a manager that makes you so uncomfortable you cannot perform on a certain job ( I do various jobs) because he keeps saying I'm not doing it right even though I have been doing it for six years. If I say I'm not going to do that job because he won't stop hovering over me like I'm a low IQ or child or something can the CEO fire me for insubordination? The CEO is aware he has accused me of this, but the one doing the accusing really doesn't have any proof since three shifts work on the same pallet. I really don't know how to proceed with this and I need help. I don't want to loose my job, but its becoming unbearable. Also it is well known that this manager has certain mental issues. What should I do?

    I had a manager who could barely speak English and shot me down in flames to the 'overall' manager for things that SHE asked me to do, apparently it was my fault I didn't understand her properly!! When I told her I was resigning, you could literally see the blood drain from her face when she realised she couldn't hide behind her excuses and lies anymore! A contact got a job paying $40,000 MORE than I was on so I kinda did better but I did love that other job.

    My boss is dating an employee. I was going to his desk and there he was sitting in a chair holding and caressing her hand. Nobody was in the area to catch them. I turned around before they noticed. I can't stand him. I think he thinks I caught them. He avoids me, doesn't talk to me. He praises everyone but me. He's doing it on purpose. The last time he put me down it was so pathetic and unnecessary. Im going to have to go to another shift

    3:32 From my understanding the majority of companies act under the " hire and fire at will positions ". They could not like the shoes you are wearing and terminate you....they would obviously use a more professional excuse to do so. I think the legality comes into play being fired for Race/Religion/Sex/Gender, which also they would hide behind some other type of professional issue to do so

    As an HR Leader who after 30 years working in Fortune 50-500 companies today there is no loyalty due to companies only caring about “Shareholder Value”. For me this is the reason why I am looking to walk away from my career and do something different. It’s god awful how companies treat their employees today and don’t care.

    About 8 yrs. ago I was getting a lot of heat from higher ups, "where was I at" or you're on your lunch at this hour" so I went to our team leader and mentioned what was going on and told her this is bordering on harassment!!! That did the trick everybody backed down. I'm still there.

    Good signs! #1 - Whatever happens is your fault! My manager created an excel sheet 2 months ago that has to be updated everyday by me and my co-workers. Every couple days she changes something, one day she decided the the word Pending should be written No-Reply and I wrote pending, she scolded me in front of everyone highlighting how dumb I am. So everyone has to do exactly what they are told or else we are dumb and incompetent. The first thing is this sheet is useless and we do not need it, it was only created because she wants to show off to her boss that she is doing something. It just wastes our time. So every couple days she was changing something, until last Friday when she decided that now we do not want pending on the sheet anymore, now you have to only put On-Hold tickets. So on Monday I still put pending tickets because we were doing this for almost 2 months and I forgot what she said, I was taking care of clients like a lunatic very busy. I read her document but she did not clearly write anything about eliminating for good pending tickets. On Monday she sent a letter to HR and the Director of the company saying that removed my access from her handover sheet because I did not respect the compliance of the company (imagine how absurd). On Tuesday she created another issue over nothing (forgot, but something really nonsense). On Wednesday she confronted me saying that she heard rumors that I was working in another room in the company not the one that was allocated. Imagine how absurd is for a manager come to confront you with gossips once in a while, she did this already 3 times in the past 4 months. Yesterday a client came to offer my company a partnership, a real good partnership. In this single deal we could increase our clients by 1.6%. I handled the situation the best I could because I have experience in sales, and managed to escalate to the sales team. So after that my manager arrived at work 2 hours after the partnership was being handled and she scolded me in front of everyone saying I was not respecting compliance again, detail in her compliance files just says that I have to contact my line manager, nothing else. So I contacted her, but she was not working. So I also tried to contact the sales team on my own, and this is absurd! Because she wants to have total control over everything. After that, she e-mailed the Director and HR Manager again complaining about me and I got a warning letter from them. So I think my time working in the company is over for good.

    As an outreach social worker my previous job we operated in pairs for safety reason and my teammate I worked with one lady about 10 years older than either of my parents she would act like my best friend even boarding on sexually inappropriate a few times. After 2 years of dealing with her toxic behavior and being friendly anyways she accused me of conspiring to get her fired with someone that had previously tried to get me fired... Loyalty has no place in the modern work place, get your money and go.

    Maybe ask yourself why they would want to get rid of you in the first place? It is extremely costly and inconvenient to lose an employee and train someone else, and there's no guarantee of how that next person will perform (unless they already work for the company and are taking your place). Sometimes it's necessary because of budget constraints. But many times it is due to performance in one form or another (productivity, absences.....or the worst of them all: attitude). Many performance issues can be worked through, attitude is unlikely to change.

      Not true, work in HR for 30 years Fortune 50-500. High performers I have seen get pushed out due to working for evil leaders and demote them. Also have seen Leaders who take all the credit and push out staff that don’t subscribe to their vision because they are terrible toxic leaders. They push you out trying to give you a severance and find a reason to do so. What happens most of the time staff walks away but there are instances that the employees file with a lawyer for “unlawful termination” not due to performance and if a strong case the company settles. HR is not your friend.

But when I worked for my second company I was chased away after 3 years and chased away by many companies less than six months. Now in my thirties, I am frustrated for being unemployed many times and want to quit about IT career by saving enough to study Accounting and change my career. I did well in Accounting in high school but didn't study Accounting in College/University yet in the past.

    My former boss did this and made fun of me because he knew he didn't pay me enough for two years. He expected me to train my successor. That guy also complained about me when he was too dense to understand anything. Accused me to no train him properly which was the exact result of that complain. I left the company and my boss was fired a few months after that. I left a burning mess in his department without doing something intentional to keep things legal. But I tell you what: You don't piss off the key user that knows your department better than you and is the only one who has administrational rights for your machines.

    I tried to have a reasonable conversation with my supervisor about her behavior toward me, however she snapped and tried to intimidate me instead of listening.
