How to Create Hundreds of Folder in A Few Seconds | Microsoft Excel Tricks & Tips
Learn how to quickly create multiple folders with unique names using Excel formulas and Command Prompt in just a few easy steps.
You can use a simple Excel formula to create hundreds of folder names quickly. Follow the steps below:
Open a new Excel worksheet.
In the first row, type the folder name you want to use as a base. For example, if you want to create folders named "Project 1", "Project 2", "Project 3", and so on, type "Project" in the first cell of the first row.
In the second row, type the number 1 in the first cell. Then, in the second cell of the second row, enter the following formula: ="Project "&A2+1
Drag the formula down to create as many rows as you need folders. Excel will automatically increase the number in the formula as you drag it down. For example, if you drag the formula down to row 10, the formula in cell B10 will be ="Project "&A10+1, which will create the folder name "Project 10".
Copy the folder names from the Excel worksheet and paste them into a text editor, such as Notepad.
Save the text file with a .bat file extension, for example, "create_folders.bat".
Open Command Prompt and navigate to the folder where you want to create the folders.
Run the .bat file by typing its name and pressing Enter. This will create all the folders with the names you specified in the text file.
Note: Be sure to test the .bat file on a small number of folders before running it on hundreds of folders to ensure that it works as expected.
