Also, I've heard a couple times now that you weren't sure on Tormax progress.. Just as an update for Teek players : Tormax has cleared Kunark for awhile now :) Phara Dar is down. It's a fun server, albeit much quieter.

Hey man, had a question for you. I just stumbled upon your permadeath TAKP series where you are using the StoneUI. I have also started trying to use the StoneUI on Quarm, turning my desktop resolution to 800x600 to make it fit while I play. I noticed your UI looked far clearer than mine, in terms of the sharpness of the text and the UI texture, mine is just blurrier. If you remember, could you maybe give me some tips on how you set your game up?

Just a casual player returning after 20 years, but I’m having a lot of fun on Teek! Have had PLers mess up a camp one time, but most of my groups have been great.

Great episode! Some of the people who are guildless might be like me where I just play my boxes and group and level alts. I never really raided in EQ just pop in every few years to enjoy the old content and don’t get super into the politics or raids. Might try to raid this time, sounds like you’re having fun with it.

Not a fan of PLing as a concept, but generally I don’t really care if people are doing it so long as they’re not bothering anyone else. I’ve had multiple groups now where we’ve been parked at a camp for a good hour plus and some PL team will just roll on in, setup shop and go to town. I know camps aren’t recognized, but yeah, obviously no common courtesy and it’s not like our little group can compete with that. Frustrating just getting forced out with no mobs left and have to leave just for safety, since they don’t give a damn about bowling people over with a train. And my ignore list is practically overflowing with all the people spamming advertisements for this garbage. Hopefully gets addressed in some way.

The random loot server was great for Mischief but Teek and the way they opened the content ... should have just been named kronofarm. Server is booty.

Teek being my first TLP I don’t really have any reference for comparison, but man, I can’t imagine not having random loot with this many people on a server. What was it like on previous TLPs with large pop and no random tables? Were there just constant battles over the couple camps with chase items while most others were just empty? Again, no frame of reference, but feels like this kind of ruleset helps spread people out and also makes less utilized camps see some traffic. While it does make it a little harder to target specific items, I really enjoy the extra fun of rares being a box of chocolates. Of course, the tower really sucked a lot of that fun away at the same time. This past week were my first raids I’ve ever done in Kunark period, and it was so sad seeing the loot auctions go up, browsing through all this wonderful gear, and then sighing in disappointment because I already have tower gear and it’s just better in every way. Absolute shame.

I’m a returning player after 20 years away and have been having a blast on Teek! I’ve never been a raider, so everything I know about raiding I’ve learned from binging your podcasts 😝. I’m a little confused about some Relentless Insomnia videos the algorithm fed me that seem to imply they beat Faceless in some fashion, but it sounds like they weren’t actually even close?

I'm one of the folks in Faceless. Liking it so far. Would have been nice to be invited to the guild off the bat. And been able to join for those raid kills when they happened. But didn't know they were going on and missed them. But good job so far guys.

Teek is the most successful TLP launch. They launched one TLP server this year. Tormax exists only to taunt us with its superior server name. Teek has the largest population of any EverQuest server in all 25 years. The server has mostly held up technically. The expansion unlock timline is more optimized. We have fresh content with the Anniversary Tower. Community drama has been minimal. High-end competition remains fierce. I truly believe these are the best days to be playing an EverQuest TLP.

This sounds fantastic. I liked the slow grind of P99 back 10 years ago- was fun. Even more classic though? I dig it. Quarm was cool but all of the changes started to become too much. I don't mind a few QOL features but that server just wasn't for me in the end.

All for people having choice. I think a lot of people want a Classic experience until they actually get it and remember what it is like. A lot of people complained about the mouse wheel issues on Quarm until it got fixed. Everyone still complains about defense skill leveling and the slow exp gains. I will stick with Quarm/Teek. To each their own but I hope everyone remembers what Classic actually was like.

I wish these guys the best! I'm sure this is exactly what a certain subset of EQ players want. I personally don't think I'll ever be able to play on a non mouse scroll server ever again but to each their own

Thanks for getting the word out, Zaide! While I've been hard at work on gating content for this, Robregen and Akkadius have been updating code to support the TLP style server. Rob is also working on gated content. Torven did loads of work on classic era code updates for PQ and we're using those, he deserves a lot of credit, not to mention the 8+ years of work he did previously on TAKP. The Trilogy era resist system is something he crafted and I can't wait to see it in action, should make pre-PoP more challenging and feel more accurate. There has been a lot of great work done by the other TAKP devs leading up to this; Solar, Cavedude, Haynar, Speedz, Secrets for all the work on the client, and Nazwadi for taking care of the server arrangements. The total amount of work I've done pales in comparison to the others, so I don't feel right having my name mentioned up front on this, it's just what I've been working on alongside the other current devs recently. I'm excited to see how it goes and we hope it helps bring some new faces to TAKP. This is all based around TAKP's 10th anniversary, so we thought we'd try something new to get the community excited. We'll post the announcement on TAKP Forums today, along with opening polls that will run for months leading up to the launch to determine the box limit and expansion release rates.

Honestly I wish I could have been there for early ST but didn't even know that p99 existed until kunark. By the time I joined Phatez was moving on. The current group is fantastic though and I have never had so much fun raiding in a game, so thanks for putting all this together initially for us to enjoy for years.

Started my EQ career on Red99 during Classic era. Mained a Paladin, the server pop maxed out at like 30-40 people(all of whom were just halfling druids). Some of the most fun I've ever had in a game, running around trying to find Magic res any way I could, trying to get the Deepwater Harpoon so I could actually hit someone for more than 14 dmg. That character is still parked in NFP at lvl 60, has a Rocksmasher and a Great Spear of Dawn, plus abunch of other TOV loots. It was quite the journey. Red99 2.0 with Teams has been asked for FOREVER, I doubt it'll ever happen.
