I've wanted to make this video for awhile, but needed time and space to have a treasure hunt throughout the house and my studio. It seemed like so much work but I actually had great fun assembling my selections. I don't think I had any ghosts and monsters books. But I remember an Alfred Hitchcock kid's anthology in my grammar school library, and a particular story about a curious child who became fixated on an unusual neighbor who turned out to be a werewolf. When they realized the child had been spying on them, they bit the kid, and kept him hidden in their house, howling for recognition of who they used to be. It frightened me for years.

Cynthia! I was just thinking about you yesterday wondering how your summer's been. Gathering old books I've loved over time is one of my favorite ways to reminisce.

@@SparklingLotusInk I do the same thing! I have some of my Grandfather's gardening books and it makes me feel close to him when I read/look at them. He was a Landscape Architect and taught at Harvard and Rhode Island School of Design. He died when I was young but I did spend hours with him in his gardens as a child. Such wonderful memories and probably why I am a gardener today.

Thank you so much for this comment! It is a really creepy card (Urban Tarot). I read in the guidebook that the person who posed for the image is a professional artists model who was told to look at the deck creator with complete disdain. It took me quite awhile to stop shuddering at the image. Not sure I’ll ever get to that point with the Bee devil. But they are both great examples of the Tarot evolving in pace with the present tense and our variety of odds and obstacles. The Pholarchos deck is a strong favorite of mine.

I hear NYC, clubs, and young womanhood/dark slick talking guys and immediately think of my early fiction attempts and a particular character I invented in an effort to keep myself safe from the ‘real thing’ bullshit artists. Sometimes when I’m in difficult situation, I imagine my friend reading that line to me over the phone. It helps me feel brave and wise enough to meet whatever kind of moment I’m facing.

As soon as I opened the Bee Tarot gift, I knew this Devil was going to lead the pack when we got to this trump.

There is one particular paper that I used in a bookmaking project that I would definitely have as wallpaper. And the wine and deeper burgundy light and shadow on might be nice in library/reading room that had a garden view through the windows.

That devil is from the Pholarchos deck. Glad my selections work for you. "chilling and daunting" is definitely what I was going for.

I still haven't watched your videos for Temperance. Thought I'd skip over that for now to get a more timely jump on The Devil and then go back to contemplate and enjoy at my leisure. 💖

I'm already finding the staring and relaxing factors to be tremendously effective as I tunnel deeper into my trilogy. And it's aces for cards as well. Next I will use some of the old milk paint to transform a very ugly three tiered shelf. But first I'll share a glimpse of it as-is becomes that's often an important part of others visualizing something they could do with something they have and could learn to love rather than barely tolerating. Just subbed to your second channel - I hadn't quite caught on it existed. The apple tree also instructed me to make two apple wands. Just got some super-fine grain sandpaper so I can smooth the heartwood without interfering with its grain and subtle vibrations.

That cornfield vibe is overpowering any time I look through these papers. Think I might make some laser color copies of it at Staples so I can play around with some ideas. Printmaking is a form of magic to me. The thrill never dies.

Shimmering Veil is indeed a phenomenal reader. Also seems to be something of a dream sherpa when I sleep with the deck tucked into my pillowcase. I really love that we share such a strong and lengthy relationship with DotM. It isn't just a great decl - it also captures the energy of a moment in time that has had a lasting impact on my personal/philosophical development. It's definitely an "everything" deck for me too!!

I have to step carefully because there are several leopard frogs that live amongst the plants. Last month I was thrilled to spot a self-seeded echinacea from one of the original plantings that I divided in half, our third year here. Today I noticed it was happy and thriving enough to produce a second flower head and I am so happy for this gift. You can really feel the love out there. 💝

Forgot to acknowledge your anise hyssop observation. It self seeds happily and has become a mainstay (as well as jewelweed) in this part of the property's nectar highway. I only brought one plant of it from my former garden and the colony gradually settled-in at this particular part of the dooryard. I take roughly a third of the flowers for my family's use and leave the rest for the winged ones and seed production. The plants in pots winter over in the dog run and get enough sun to keep the roots and seeds in good shape, year after year.

They were sipping bee and wasp sized droplets trapped in the panicles and flower stems.. 🤩

In the spring I was devastated to discover her main branch didn't pull through the winter but she's made a gorgeous comeback all the same!

They are exuberant and well-refreshed 💚🌿

Would be great if it was as simple as a wish to send you some ... 💙

The name of the book is The Tarot, Magic, Alchemy, Hermeticism, & Neoplatonism, 3rd edition. I thought it was sold out/out of print, but I know he had copies of it for sale at the Readers' Studio this year. You might want to send him an email to see if he has any available copies left. His email address is alchemicaltarot@aol.com. The book is quite comprehensive (680 pages). It covers all the topics in the title including his Alchemical Tarot deck and the Sevenfold Mystery deck.

Love the idea of very young dragons in your life. That put a smile on my face. Love our local crows. This year there's a fledgling with a long white stripe running from the top of their head to their beak. It doesn't have a full-throated caw yet. Can't wait to hear what its mature voice sounds like. Coincidentally. I recently got a notice that RMP is teaching an alchemy/tarot course in September. It will have the same 4 class format as the Sevenfold Mystery class. So whatever decks you have on hand that include cards with alternative or expanded interpretations beyond the traditional meanings are always delightful to see!

I have been blown away by the Tarot of Occult Energies since the moments I saw it offered for sale at my favorite online deck source. The saturated colors and enhanced line work are magnificent. After I bought it, I kept the package on my altar unopened until my birthday. Just now beginning to work with it as intended rather than simply flipping through to feed my eyes and soul. 💖 Very much love what Giordano Berti said in his personal message printed in his actual handwriting.

I laughed out loud at the television show reference. Somebody close to me is a LOT obsessed with The Traitors and has begged me to watch, just so we can discuss it. I'm a big believer in grace under pressure (or for that matter, enforced stasis) but it can often be easier said than done.

This ongoing VR process is an excellent vehicle for getting out of my own head by finding ways to express a small portion of what rolls around in there.
