    Do you ever have issues with rolling shutter or anything in with the Sony in silent mode

    • @fromthetipsgolf
      @fromthetipsgolf Před 6 měsíci

      I have noticed items elongate in the silent mode. Examples would be golf club at high swing speeds or capturing a baseball as it is hit off the bat. Would go mechanical if the situation allows it.

      Appreciate it! Primarily using a Tamron 70-180. Cropping in tighter when editing if needed.

    When trying to get into shooting tournaments such as this, may I ask who to reach out to throughout the hiring process?

    • @fromthetipsgolf
      @fromthetipsgolf Před 7 měsíci

      Hey Nathan, I reached out to the PR/Communications team for the opportunity. Our podcast interviewed several players in the field and I shot photography free of charge to give the event more exposure. In my experience, most smaller events are accommodating to get a photo pass if you ask. Great practice and nice portfolio builder.

      @@fromthetipsgolf Thanks for your response Ryan! I understand free work to build a portfolio, but how would you make this a full time gig? Any pointers?

      I've "cold called" via Instagram DMs before, email as well. Also, utilizing your network for opportunities is a great way to try and secure some projects. I've been with an ad agency primarily focused on social media management but love to content create for the channels. Keep working on your craft and don't stop reaching out to folks! @@nathanjeans

    What shutter speed did you shoot at?

    • @fromthetipsgolf
      @fromthetipsgolf Před rokem

      Normally over 1/2000 at minimum to get club still in shot. I prefer to underexpose as well because editing software can bring back shadows. I’l adjust depending on light as well.

  • @ToddNormanE
    @ToddNormanE Před rokem

    For golf events if you were to bring one more lens would you go wider (~28-70mm) or longer (~200-600mm w/mono or tripod). Did you feel you missed any shots with the 70-180?

    • @fromthetipsgolf
      @fromthetipsgolf Před rokem

      It’s all I had budget for at the time haha, but very versatile for golf due to the vastness of the setting for landscapes and positioning yourself in the right place for action/portraits. I just got a 150-600 so excited to try it out and get those nice close ones. 24-70 would be great for scenics but tough for capturing the action. Next time I go out I’ll be using 150-600 and 70-180 to cover me in almost all situations.

      @@fromthetipsgolf I own the same Tamron and will be doing my first tournament shoot in June. Was thinking I’d bring another lens but don’t want to bring the “kitchen sink”. Thanks for the video! I took notes, very helpful.

    They (Arcadia Bluffs) have a sign asking that you don’t intentionally hit into the lake. A university study showed that it was detrimental to the lake and fish as the balls deteriorate. But it is a beautiful course!
