Digging for my new home Part 3
In this series of clips, you will get to follow me as I do the groundwork and digging for my new home.
In this clip, the focus is on terracing, laying that stone at the right level. When you lay out the stone, you want the larger stones (which are usually at the top after blasting) to end up at the bottom of the new level. This means that you simply have to turn everything around to get the optimal result.
When the level feels good, we run over it with a roller a couple of times. The level is then checked again and adjustments are made. Then you check the level again and so on until you are completely satisfied with the result.
Now that the digging is nearing completion, it is time to begin the foundation for my new home.
To be continued...

    Why didn’t you use the paper on the last 100 yards of road because it looked really soft, I worked construction for thirty some years and we always it the paper down to stabilize the surface before covering with 407 or whatever customer wanted.

    I think YOU made a mistake........You should have completely filled in the GAPS on both sides of the NEW PIPE with GRAVEL , INSTEAD of laying those large rocks DIRECTLY ON TOP OF THE NEW PIPE ! WHY......Because , NOW when heavy vehicles drive over the rocks , their weight is DIRECTLY Pressing on the NEW PIPE .......NOT GOOD !!!! MY way , the weight would have supported BY the gravel INstead OF the rocks !!! THINK ABOUT IT !!!!

    • @rasmushammarlof1164
      @rasmushammarlof1164 Před rokem

      Hi Joe, Thanks for your input! But as you can se in the video, I just put the large rocks on the pipe to keep it in place in the stream while I fill the gaps and around the pipe with gravel. After the pipe is set and fixed in position I move the rocks and use them in the wall on each side of the road. The gravel is compacted and takes up the bigger part of the load 😁👍

    Very nice piece of equipment. I’ve noticed the equipment overseas is about 4 to 5 years ahead of ours here in the states. Just like the tilt rotator has been used in Europe for many years it’s just now available to us at dealerships without having to order from over seas as a special order. It’s crazy how behind we are. We do things very different though. On a job like that I would have had a track skidsteer with a dozer blade for the cut then tailgate the material in starting from one end then completing at other. 1000 feet in same conditions around 4-5 hours depending on how many trucks are hauling to me.

    • @rasmushammarlof1164
      @rasmushammarlof1164 Před 2 lety

      You are right! As u say we have been using the tiltrotators for over 30 years, they are as standard as it gets over here. At the same time you can hardly find any skidsteers at all in Sweden. So as you say, is really different :) I agree l, the best would be to tailgate spread it with the truck, but as it was really heavy rain I was afraid the truck would get stuck in the slippery mud. It really doesn’t show, but it’s all a long slope uphill :)
