Easy Finger Knitting: 2 Beginner-Friendly Bind Off Techniques!
If you're new to finger knitting, binding off might seem a bit tricky, but don't worry-we’ve got you covered! In this video, we're going to show you two super easy and beginner-friendly ways to take the yarn off your fingers and finish the edge of finger knit strips at the same time!
00:07 - Method #1: Binding off With a Yarn Needle!
We show you how to use a yarn needle to thread the yarn through each loop. This method is straightforward and creates a lovely edge to any project. This technique is best for projects that are totally finished.
00:57 - Method #2: Stacking & Looping the Stitches!
Next, we'll show you how to loop the stitches over each other to bind them off. This technique is just as simple and creates a perfectly finished edge. We use this method when ending a strip in join-as-you-go knit projects like blankets where multiple strips are joined together!
Both methods are easy to memorize, so you'll be able to finish off your finger knitting projects with confidence in no time!
To follow along with this tutorial you'll need:
- a project ready to bind off
- yarn needle
- scissors

What type of slip knot are you using? Can't follow what you are doing.
What kind of slip knot do you use? It looks more substantial than the usual but it's too quick to follow. I searched for other demonstrations but can't find it.

This is how I learned! It's been years and I've never been able to find a tutorial or what it's called until now.
Well described and demonstrated 😊
A little repetitive. But helpful
This is awesome! Could you maybe do a video on how to add yarn to a work in progress? I’m trying to make a blanket but I can’t find anywhere that shows me how to add yarn onto my project when I’m running out 😅❤
How is it easier to keep tension while throwing than continental?
Can i do this with chenille yarn?

Thank you! Superb of showing how this cast on -- really appreciate the close video and your addition of the physical marker (brushing the needle tips along thumb and then index finger) in your presentation. Again, thanks! You've saved my sweater and my next pair of socks!
I'm so glad it helped you get the hang of this cast on!
This video was perfect! This whole time I've been telling my husband I wanted to start knitting and I actually want to start crocheting. Thank you for explaining the difference!

The best ever 👍
How does a 3sts i-cord edging work on a cardigan -from the 1x1 ribbed neckband, to the body ...seamlessly , while adding button band ? Do you have a tutorial for this scenario? Please and thank you . 🧶💫
TYSMMMMM FINALLYY I CAN THREAD A YARNNN this is really helpfull
Excellent tutorial.
Thank you so much!!! This was a such a huge help. ❤
wow, thank you
Omg, I was legit *just* looking for a new way to do a difficult, technical skill in a way that is HARDER, SLOPPIER, & LESS EFFICIENT. Thank you!!!
Do you know from whom I learned how to crochet, sew, cross-stitch, & knit? My grandma. I would love it if you would feature truly expert fiber artists who have decades of experience creating & teaching everything from the basics to the most advanced techniques.
With the English knitting it is not necessary to leave the needle while knitting. The method you are showing is way slower. The needle needs to lie in between the thumb and forefinger. And that way there is no leaving of the needle and throwing of the yarn
Great technique. Thanks for your ideas and inspiration.
Hello - thank you for a clear and easy to follow video. I've done this cast on before and for some reason I thought I wasn't doing it correct. I watched other videos and still couldn't figure it out. I was doing it correctly LOL -- what made the difference in your video, easy to following vocal instructions and the use of a larger needle and yarn and tips on making the stitch. :)
Oh I'm so glad it was helpful for you!!
I think it would be helpful to show a comparison of the stretch of the German Twisted Cast On to the stretch of the long tail, or other methods of cast on.
found this SO helpful. thank you! tho, i am still having trouble with the extra yarn between the halves (at min 5:16). i'm not yet able to close that extra yarn by moving my stiches around. hmmm.... gonna keep practicing. if anyone has tips, glad to hear them!
I'm glad it was helpful! I've had the same experience with having a wider space where the cable comes between the stitches too. I'm glad you tried shifting the spot. You can also try using a set of needles with a more flexible cable (some are very stiff!). I also tend to pull the yarn tighter when I cross that space to help keep that space small. I hope that helps!
god sent hack, thank you
