Right now is a good time to look at Facebook marketplace for sets. This is the moving season. Young adults going off to college, family’s moving to a different home.

@BrickTherapy welcome man eh I looked at both of these and seen that they should've switched the names lagoon lockup looks more like broadside's brig and lagoon lockup is more for that smaller set. Still it's what you make it look and how it looks

It’s hard to find a good quality set for under $500 nowadays. The lucky ones bought them when they first came out.

@@BrickTherapy I remember seeing them in the store and thinking it was too expensive. If only I could go back in time. I just bought the Lion Knights castle for $400 USD and I think its great and has more than 4000 pieces. I wouldn't spend more than $500 for 1619 pieces. People have offered me a lot for my 1989 Black Seas Barracuda and it has 909 pieces which was considered huge at the time. Aftermarket prices are mind blowing.

I get the whole buy and not open mentality. That’s why I try to buy two of the same sets so I can play with one.

Since they are modular, you could definitely buy multiple sets and combine them. You just have to be willing and able to spend the $$$

This was a cute set for its time. May not be considered as good by today’s standards. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I like the width of the Caribbean Clipper because it would look more proportional when extended.

@@BrickTherapy That is true. I however never extended it. But I‘ve built myself a MOC Ship of the line with three wide middle segments and that looks great as well.

Yeah it looks sleek, much more compleate, and overall in my taste better looking ship then clipper, but it has one down side, the narrower hull doesnt allow for 2x2 cannons :( (and for me at that time it was quite a bummuer). It requires also less different bricks to give it an upper deck simiar to barracuda (what Lego stopped doing after it). Both dont have cabin, but you can make on both (althrough clipper will have its cabine wider). Extension wise for one tile its ok (as the sailes are rly big, and cover the flag if streched out), but for bigger extentions you kinda should switch to clipper/barracuda hull, while in clipper you have to switch also the "lines" for crew to walk and all the connections and so on.
