I love those generals i have one my self actually that i was restoring but never finish because i cant find or get parts for it its been untouched since 2014
That's rough. I'm sure you can get it working. Alot other newer parts work on the old stuff. Even if it won't look 100 percent original, it'll run.

Thanks for that. Brought back some memories of driving a 892 General dumptruck back in my early days of driving. The GMC cabs were comfortable. I can remember turning the steering wheel with my index finger, the power steering was strong/easy to turn. Take it for a ride....

Greetings from the Ohio Porters. Nice dash...it’s still looks good and not cracked all over. The Silver 92 was a good engine from everyone that I’ve talked to. I’ve not much on any DETROIT engine, but I’ve had some that I thought were radically good! 🤩 I was shocked. I do like the sound of an older 238 Detroit though. Would like to see more of this rig. 🧐 The Generals were quite unique in and out. I can remember driving by the GMC dealership in my hometown and seeing them new. I had the truck fever then, but that was a lot of $$$$ to fork out for a truck and not put it on the road. I was a young teenager then. Oh well, that’s hindsight. My brother owns a Ford CL 9000 that has the Silver 92 and loves it. Good stuff. Thanks for sharing it. 🤩

I had a '78 General with the 0092 in it and the first thing I did was yank it out and put a Cummins 444 under the hood.
The 444 did make a good boat anchor

Nice truck!! How was the performance of these engines compared whit the engines of the era, i mean, all the variants of the 855 cu cummins and the cats? Its very common reading comments about the lack of torque, the fuel conspuption, etc, etc, of the Detroit diesel engines, was it true?
Detroit's didn't have great torque, or fuel mileage,

it depends but if you really take care of it and your crew dont rip it to shreds about 100k pounds if you push it

Wow. I was 22 years when i started drivind back in 2003. I started in 1984 general ditroit diesel. First i thought it was a piece shi. Of course being young you dont shit history . Now i dont like tne new trucks. Im more like old school. I wish i could have that truck very nice.

We needed to head to a new spot that was aways away so we hauled it in and picked the fish on the way to get there quicker.
