My name is Mee7R4 and I am fond of USSR vintage cameras. I gained a vast collection of them and decided to share my knowledge and experience with you. These cameras are very interesting and honest, have a unique spirit and worth trying to use it.
You can find me also at eBay where I have the same nickname (Mee7R4).
I will be happy to answer your questions about USSR photo equipment.

I find myself coming back to your videos quite a bit, your information and sentimental quality are unmatched! Hoping you make more videos in the future!
What an incredible work of documentation on history. Looking forward for the arrival of my first soviet camera here in Brazil and it is a Zorki 4. Thank you so much for taking the time to create this!
Where canni find the rest of your videos?
Hello There are only four films now. I am working now on video about "Kiev" rangefinder and this story is very compicated. I have to visit archives to trace the path of "Contax" equipment from Germany that was moved to Kiev. That infomation is not available online and my aim is to give all possible information. That takes a lot of time. Also, I started this channel as promotion for my online-store where I sell vintage photo equipment. Before 2022 I was selling at eBay, but after *something happened* eBay blocked all Russian users. Now I sell at Pinkoi, but the sales volume is frustrating. Thus it is very difficult to find necessary time for work on new film, because I must earn money in another way. If you want new video, please visit my store (the links are in the description). Maybe you will find something interesting.
@@russianphoto5869 sweet! I can't wait for the next video! I'll definitely take a look at your shop
Great view finder and rangefinder on Fed 2
Amazing video! I've learned so much from this one video than I have watching any other videos about the Fed-2 as well as Zorki.
Thank you for your kind words!
I like the fed 3, and I think it's amazing how a whole industry could be based on so many clones, and sometimes really good ones
By far the most informative video on the Zorki 4. I have three of them that are all slightly different due to the year manufactured. For me it is the most comfortable to use since I have large hands and find it easy to load. I have taken beautiful photos as well. My only issue with this camera and other Soviet cameras (rangefinders and SLRs) is the last shot on the roll. Many times, I get to the final shot and move the shutter advance and it pulls the film from the cartridge. I have started to pay more attention to the number of photos taken and end the roll accordingly. By the way, great music!
Is there any tips on how to 3D print or fabricate a new take up spool? Mine doesn't have one :(
I have added a listing with the take-up spool for "Zorki-4" at Pinkoi and IspireUplift. It's the first listing at my store, you will find it easily. The links to the stores are in the description. I tested this spool both at early and late "Zorki-4" that I have. It works properly.
Question- What year did they switch from engravings to painted on name and numbers? Edit: Nevermind, I just got to that part of the video. 1963. Thank you for being so thorough in your production.
This is by far the best and the most informative video on vintage film cameras I've ever watched. Please keep it up
Very curious to see the reuse of the same screw mount but for different incompatible flange distances. Even more curious to not see any distinctive marks on the lenses themselves to avoid you mounting it to a non compatible body
I agree with you, and yet it is so.
Very useful knowledge from this video, thank you.
the original Zorki 1 was the best
Thank you for your comment. Tastes differ)) In USSR photocommunity "Zorki-4", "Leningrad" and "Kiev" models with exposure meter were considered to be the best rangefinders.
Zorki was a very popular rangefinder camera in the UK back in the 1960s and 70s
nice video to a good camera, I tested my Zorky 4K with the Jupiter 8 and 12 while watching. Greetings from Cologne Germany Хорошее видео на хорошую камеру, я тестировал свой Zorky 4K с Jupiter 8 и 12 во время просмотра. Приветствую вас из Кельна, Германия
Very nice video, thank you a lot.
In the shot where he is in the snow taking a picture of the guy with a chain saw...he uses his left hand to trigger the shutter? Negative reversed or some model we don't know about?
)) That's the film reversed)
Very professional presentation!
Молодец парень, шикарный ревью! На ебее ещё возможна торговля из РФ?
Спасибо! Возможна, только очень дорого, долго и замороченно.

Great video! Would love to see a video of the kiev 4
love my 4k. love my helios lens, let us pray for peace.
Great research, thank you. I have a Zorki 4K but the viewfinder is foggy. Is it easy to remove it and clean it?
Thank you for your words. For cleaning it's necessary to remove the upper part. It is not difficult but there are some details. I have made an illustrated manual how to do it. If you send me your electronic address, I will send it to you.
This is great! You deserve way more subscribers!
Great in depth video!
Love my Fed-2's. I bought a Zorki-6 which is very similar.
Another incredible documentation! Thanks a lot for your work!
Incredible documentation! Thanks a lot for your good work!
Thank you.i needed to know which industar 50 to use on my Zorki 4
You need Industar-50 with M39x1/28.8. Please, watch my video "Zorki-4. The best USSR rangefinder? If not the first, then not the second". There at 30:37 the nesessary Industar-50 is shown. At my Pinkoi and InspireUplift stores both collapsible and non-collapsible Industar-50 for rangefinder are available for purchase. The links to the stores are in the video description.
Very informative I learned my Zorki 4 is from 1958 production run. As well as its history and construction. Thank you.
Your video is helpful in understanding how the Zorki 4 operates, however I wish you had explained a few more details about the operation of the shutter settings: Exactly how do you set the shutter speeds from 1 sec to 1/15th of second. I can set the speeds from 1/60th to 1/1000th, but when I try to turn the shutter adjustment to 1/15th or lower after cocking the shutter the shutter adjustment knob will not move counter clockwise to a lower setting. Another unrelated question, can I order a camera from your store in Russia and can you ship to the USA? Can you pay with a VISA card? Thanks
At your service, Mr.Teague. The setting of the shutter speed is made as I described in the video: just rotate the shutter speed disk (only in the sector 1 sec - 1/25 (1/30) is not possible). If you have difficulties with that, I am 100% sure that the problem is in specific camera. The majority of "Zorki-4" cameras which I had, had the range from 1 sec - 1/15 rotated tightly, unlike the other part of the range. And yes, several cameras had this range almost immovable. Yes, sure. Shipping to USA works now fully properly. I have identical stores at Pinkoi and InspireUplift (as eBay blocked all Russian users). The links are in the video description. There are two "Zorki-4" available which are fully working (with s/n 5755339 and 62093722).
how possible/easy/safe is to do in-camera double exposure with it?
That is possible, though that is not an official function from the manual. Try with not necessary film first! 1. Take a photo as usual. 2. Raise the backwind head. 3. Set ring coupling in lower position. 4. Rotate the backwind head clockwise a bit to strain the film. 5. Then rotate the ring coupling in upper (normal) position. 6. Rotate the backwind head clockwise till the click. 7. Repeat the steps 3-6 two times more and remove the backwind head down. 8. Then cock the shutter and take photo. There will be double exposure of the same frame.
Привет! Меня зовут Диего. Я Аргентины. I wanted to ask you something, do you know any 3d print of the spool film? I bought a zorki 4 and a fed 2 without spool...I was thinking maybe I can get a 3d printed spool because here I'm my city there aren't spare parts. Спасибо большое!
Hello, dear Diego! Why so difficult? I have a lot of original spools for almost all Soviet cameras. Do you need one for "Zorki-4" and one for "FED-2", right? I will create a listing at Pinkoi and send to you in Argentina. That's not fast, but cheaper and you get fully original spools.
This is absolutely brilliant, thank you for taking the time and effort to produce this comprehensive overview 🏆👍👍👍
Thank you for your kind words!
My first SLR camera was a Zenit E with the 42mm mount. I now also have a Zenit photo sniper to add to my collection of cameras from the former Soviet Union. Thank you for sharing.
Vous êtes un historien !!!
I’ve got a Zorki 4K (one of the last imported in France , 1976, I think. With some great DMZ/Jupiter Lens, all the panoply !). Not yet delivevered… Love these vintage russian photo apparat ! A part of my “Argentic Jeunesse”. Sorry, I’m french and old (64)… This message is just to tell you… Love your Vids, and also the music within. Laurent, from France.
Просто сказочное видео! Памятник истории. Купил свой Зоркий 4 К с каким-то объективом от Юпитера, ДМЗ, Цейсса. Merci pour ce великий момент.
Superb informative video. Found a later production Fed 2 today in a shop for a very good price and in what seems to be very good condition so brought it, really nice camera. Would like to get the Jupiter 8 lens for it
Great video! Well done!👍
Very informative. Great video.
Great video, I just sent my 4k off for repair. I'm looking forward to testing it out.
I have a Zorki-S camera. It's one of my favorite cameras I currently own, because it's just very light and small, therefore it's very easy to carry around 👍
Hi. I can't find your store. Nice video, thanks.
Here they are: en.pinkoi.com/store/russian-photo www.inspireuplift.com/shop/RussianPhoto Both marketplaces are rather trustworthy. My range of goods and prices are the same at both stores. eBay blocked all Russian users till 2031, so I am not present there anymore.
GREATEST CZcams VIDEO ON ZORKI 4 ! 👍
Thank you!
Where is the zorki 6?
"Zorki-6" is my favourite camera, but it's similar to "Zorki-4". Maybe later I will make a special video about this camera. Now I am working on film about "Kiev" rangefinder.
Fantastic Video !!!! Thanks You!!!
Thank you!

I am very interested in your referral to the term "no light isolation" - light reflections inside the camera body. I have not heard this referred to before. An internet search revealed nothing. Could you please explain it a little more. I am currently test-shooting a Zenit-E and although the seals look OK i have taped all the rear opening joins with TESA tape to ensure no problems that way. I have a Kiev-4M which I have treated in exactly the same way and on some frames I get some strange light variations also some light entry onto the sprocket margin. It is not serious, just a quirky character of the camera. However your mention as above may be an explanation, I would love to hear your comment. Thank you for the review, greetings from New Zealand.
14:31: Can you tell me what the Russian letters "P and D" next to the release button/rewind collar stand for?
On FED 1 and FED 2 the letters next to the rewind levers are different. 2:52: FED 1 has cyrillic "B" (= latin V?), and 4:20 FED 2 has cyrillic "C and P". Can you tell what these letters stand for? Why are they different? Leica has the letter "R", "rückwärts" for return.
