I've had the first ever compliment on my hair - in my life - at exactly 20 months into growing out salt n pepper. I never got compliments on my coloured warm brown hair.

Wise words. As a woman, I don't understand those types of women!!!

It took a couple of tries for me to go gray. The first time I made the huge mistake of bleaching my hair blonde (from a dark chocolate brown) to try and keep that demarcation line less noticeable. Unfortunately I fried my hair with the bleach and after a few months I gave up and recolored my hair brown again, hoping to make it feel more healthy (which it didn't ). A couple of years later I decided to try again. This time I grew it out for about 6 months until it was long enough to cut into a super cute pixie. It was such a wonderful feeling to finally cut off all the damaged dyed hair and have soft, healthy beautiful gray with all its variation in color. The pixie was super cute but now I have shoulder length grays and I still love it. Never going back.

For healthier hair I do argain or jojoba oil with rosemary, just steam for 20 mi & ready to use ..

I'm 1 year in a grow out from pixie to shoulder length and going grey. Every couple weeks i go through this ready to give up. My hair is 50/50 old colored/s+p. Daughter gets married in 3 weeks.

Another question, on the web sight the color stone looks much darker than in your video. I have the same kind of grey pattern than yours, but more white than grey on top. Will stone still work for me ? And are the 2 pieces enough to cover all sides of the head?

Zombie mode. So true and even worse when it was absolutely gorgeous out and you were stuck in the chair for a few hours on a Saturday and had been stuck inside all week for work and then when it was so hot and getting the new coloring job you just spent a lot of money on wet with pool water was frowned upon. I hated all of it. Free of all of that now. 😊🎉

I let my go natural too. I have gotten more compliments than I ever had before. Frankly, some women choose a color that is not flattering. When a person has mature skin, black hair for example looks harsh. I feel white, silver, or shiny gray soften the face. A cute cut, and shiny hair keep it looking nice. You look beautiful and your silver hair is gorgeous.I love your haircut. I am embracing my age and happy how I look. I am almost 70 .

You know my hairdresser said I would look old if I stopped coloring my hair. She is in her early 80s and is still blonde. A year later, I run into her often and she does not say a word other than asking if I plan to take some length off. She knows my hair would not grow beyond my collarbone when she was coloring it because it was breaking off and now one year later, my hair has beautiful length. She had told me it was not breaking because of the dye but now that I stopped dying, it no longer breaks…hmmm… such a mystery.

One year in and loving it, but I feel like that dance is far into the future!! I wonder if I should guess I have at least a year and a half to two years? I don’t know, but I don’t care because this process is actually fun now that I am out of that ugly embarrassment stage when you actually think people care what you are doing with your hair. Amanda! I’m here. I am at the one year mark of not dying my hair anymore. I did not know on June 11 of 2023 that was certainly the last time, but as it got closer for me to dye again, it was this video that made me seal the deal with myself and say goodbye to the dye and hiding my authentic self. I've been growing out my greys for 9 months. I just had it cut, so most of the coloured hair has gone but I hate it short. I'll like it in 6 months, I hope.😢

At 63 my hair is almost all silver/white except a few darker hairs in the back. I am fair skinned and do feel a little washed out. So I use pravana smokey silver toner. It helps to give my hair a little bit of dimension while blending with the remaining darker hair. I like it because it fads out, after 6-10 washes I no longer have that demarcation line at my roots.

My grandson when he was 4 he told me I looked like a princess because I had beautiful white hair. I am sure he was influenced by frozen’s princess Elsa …but I still loved the compliment!

I went silver in 2020 at age 60, after dying my hair med/dark brown over 32 years. Deciding to go natural was a very personal decision. That if you are not ready to make that commitment, you will not see all the benefits. Before making that decision, I went through 3-4 years of noticing every woman with striking silver hair…and telling her how beautiful she was…also during that time I thought I was looking more and more washed out by my color choices…I tried highlighting my dark brown hair, then low lighting my lighter brown hair…nothing was making me feel any better…I still felt that I looked like I was using “ just for men”. The colored hair just wasn’t me anymore! It wasn’t until I had my hair stripped and toned silver that I looked younger and started getting compliments on my hair again! It is all about being your best self right now! I certainly do not comment on others choices…i have only gotten a few snarky comments in the 4 years, I just say you do you babe! I will do me.

I dyed my hair for 32 years, straight through my salt and pepper years. I had my hair stripped and toned silver in 2020…so now that it has all grown out I am completely silver white. I still like adding pravana silver toner for dimension, but I will never go back . I love my silver hair, it is striking.

As a licensed stylist I feel I need to correct a few things. 1. Once a week is very vague. It depends on how many times a week you shampoo. Purple shampoo is safe to use every 3rd shampoo. 2. Purple shampoo is drying so deep condition lengths and ends after and you’ll be fine 3. Not conditioning every shampoo is bad advice. Condition lengths and ends every shampoo. The key is using the right conditioner for your hair type. If you find a conditioner weighs your hair down you’re not using the right conditioner. Use one specified for fine limp hair. 3. Only shampoo your scalp not lengths and ends. The shampoo that gets on the lengths and ends during rinse will suffice. 4. She’s correct about shampooing before purple shampoo because shampooing opens the cuticle and that allows the color to absorb better. You do shampoo all of your hair with toning shampoo 4. Argon oil is fine but coconut oil is optimal. If you don’t want oily pillowcases you can just apply it to lengths and ends 30 min before shampooing. 5. Always use a leave in conditioner. Just make sure it’s appropriate for your hair type 6. There is no scientific proof that growth serums work. Scalp care is the key to hair growth. 7. Chelating shampoo should be used every 3rd shampoo 8. Please don’t take hair care advice from non professionals.

You are a few decades younger than me, but at 69 at the time, I decided to stop, nearly 2 years ago, trying to keep my hair its original dark brown. . I saw a video of yours approx 2 years ago, and said "No more dye". Best decision I made, my hair is currently a tad longer than yours, and I still have a little of dyed blonde at the ends (which I had done to blend in the grey). . I'm proud of myself, but I'm proud of you, because it was your video 2 years ago that gave me the "kick up the bum" . My hair looks healthy, and has turned out a really lovely silvery grey, with salt and pepper strips at the back. . I now can wear the color red, bright lipstick, and my hair is now natural to my skin tone. Thankyou for your videos. ❤❤❤ . .
