Fireman's Dream, Midas and Golden Base Flowerhorn 40 Gallon Tank
zhlédnutí 112Před 9 měsíci
Trying to get young golden base eating. Fireman's Dream is less shy and back to eating flake food with more fish in the tank with her. The male Midas was the biggest and most dominant in 135gal. Do you see his brothers out-growing him with him now in the 40gal?
Golden Base Flowerhorn, SRD, Mammon and Midas Juveniles
zhlédnutí 100Před 10 měsíci
They're all between 2.5 to 5 inches. Female SRD and male GB flowerhorn are 6th and 7th biggest out of the 10 fish. Being smaller, they're only aggressive with half the fish in the tank. My tank got dirty having 125 midas juveniles and their mom. I traded mom and 118 juveniles in for these two flowerhorn.

Bro when you gonna get an amphilophus Trimac?!
Good question, I'm focusing more on fish I can get offspring with hump heads from. We'll see next year though. What do you keep?
Nice
Love your Midas's!
Супер
Do you have any for sale?
No, once I have fry I will.
Are any of them for sale?
Good looking fish!
What you need is 2 fluval 6 canister filters
The hornet cichlid gets beat bt midas cichlids? Almost everyone says buttikoferi would kill a midas
nice vid love it
Welcome back :)
hi, I have 2 red devils with me, given by someone, they are aggressive and hitting other fishes, kept them together then they started fighting each other now they are kept single in patriation tank. any help for reducing their aggression ? also please dont stop making contents, cheers.
Hi Julius, more decorations in the tank for them to hide. It's hard to catch someone if they keep going through or around stuff so fast and easy. Also, a bigger tank. If the tank is big try adding more fish to be a distraction.
@@marylandfishmadness thank you
It's a balancing act. Gotta provide safety for her but also don't want her to end up laying somewhere where he can't get to the eggs like too far into that pot. Another option although the dither isn't a bad idea, is to lose the dither but still use the egg crate with a few small areas cut out just big enough for her to get thru but not him. She most likely won't lay on her side if she has the option to lay on his. 3rd possibility is aggression becomes too serious between them is to put the flat saucer under the egg crate so its on both sides & keeping them completely separate for her safety. They may still spawn even divided.
Excellent fish man, good luck from Liverpool UK.
This tank is crazy good. I love Midas and I want to get a big enough tank to have them some day
I have offspring from that all white female...Nekos
Yo are you in facebook? Where are you located?
Yeah, I'm in MD, wbu?
@@marylandfishmadness im in Northern va
@@DMVLivinn okay I’m about 45 mins from Alexandria. I have the mom for sale and the other female, I’d give away for free.
Do y ou still have any for sale
Great fish man, you are after my own heart, big Cichlids rule. Best wishes to you and your family from Liverpool UK.❤
Thanks man, I hit the reset button on my tanks. I have fry and another pair trying to make more fry. I can house but so many fish. I'll try to have a 12-13 inch male again next year. Best wishes to you and our family too! From Maryland, USA
What size tank?
135 gallons
I never owned a Midas, only Red Devils. The female Midas gets the bumps on their heads too!?
They sure do brother
Want a male in a female
Do you sell them
Sure, they're already sold though. I have a pair for my dad (the parents) one pair where the male isn't so dominant and a smaller male and female. So while they fry are growing I'm still figuring it out.
What state are do you live. I am interested in getting 1 male
They breed every month so you gone have to put the fry in a different tank because they will kill the fry when it’s time to mate again
Thanks Tevin. Had to take the dad out. He kept pestering Gertrude every time I came to the tank. It's like he was bossing her to handle me.
@@marylandfishmadness I understand, after the second spawn my male devil killed my female I guess he was ready to Nate and she wasn’t. Just keep them separated until you’re ready for them to mate again. And you will have to separate your larger fry from the smaller ones because the larger ones will eat them basically the larger ones going to be the males and the smaller going to be females
Should be able to eat now he was right about the one week part .Keep crushing the flake food and add some frozen brine shrimp .I know because I raised Red devil/Midas fry myself
I would love to have anyone of these guys. Amazing tank
How far are you from Maryland?
@@marylandfishmadness Australia 👎
What size tank and how many you got in there? I got a 125gallon 3 in them
Decent collection you got there mate, nice!
By week 3 they will be swimming everywhere corners of the tank
Very nice!... It's been a long time since I spawned and raised anything so I can't remember correct time frames but I know once the egg sacks disappear it is important for them to start feeding.... In which case I have seen in my past situations you could get where they are eating the slime off the parents and also even better is i have had drift wood with nice algae growth which was also something that they would swarm over and pic on to feed and grow off of.... You may have very little décor but in the places where there's algae growth I would suggest to allow it to grow because that is something natural for the fry feed off of ,in any case as they are growing and searching for food and venturing up closer to the surface that's when you're able to use the 1st bites feed which I remember the old school method was to use a Turkey baster or you could also use eye droppers to shoot the food into the water so they can get it easily ...... Something else to think about I know that it looks like you got aqua clear filters it would beneficial and perhaps necessary to fit sponges on the intakes of those filters so you don't lose fry getting sucked in...... Nothing that I'm saying is exactly written in stone but these are some of my thoughts and rememberances from my own experiences......... Looking forward to seeing these fry grow into the monsters and nice specimens like the parents are.👍
78 I appreciate you dude! For the aquaclears I used to just put a net over the intake, I have one in now for the filter nearest to them. I'll do that for the middle one next. I don't think I have extra sponge laying around, might could cut some off the ones in the filters now. I know about the algae, I've started keeping the lights on about 11 hours. I have a plant in one of the filters I could submerge that in the water, I read somewhere they'll feed off stuff on that
@@marylandfishmadness Oh you're welcome I... I know that you're no amateur I'm just throwing these out there just because sometimes it's good to bounce ideas off each other even the things we already know....... have to say I keep my fish somewhat the opposite the way but I do admire the way you got more than one pair of big midas in what I call a normal big sized tanks (120 to 150 gallon).... I tend to just keep one or a pair just avoid the drama ....but you do got me feeling like throwing a few in a 125 and let's see what happens lol ... Also I got respect although I don't know him about the way you mention your dad it very much reminds me about myself and my oldest who are also into the hobby, specifically myself and my oldest daughter which seems we have a similar relationship with these fish like you and your dad I can see🙂
Bro I should've listened to you about the filter sponge on the intakes. I went with Media bags and tried to keep the intakes from sucking the bags in with bio media at bottom of the bags. It only works for like 18 hrs. Every night I have to separate the bag from the filter. One of my filters remain with low flow even after separating the bag. I'm going to setup the sponges tomorrow when I have time.
Now thats what I'm talkn bout 👍
Lol I see your comment about too many in the tank! Much love man.
Great job
What tank size would you recommend for one of these guys?
For just one? Minimum 75 gals
STOP RECORDING ✋️, BRO YOU HAVE 2 MANY FISH IN THAT TANK 👎
I really like the ones with white pattering
Do u have any pure midas females up for grabs? And if so where are you located
Waaaay overstocked for me hope you keep the water changes going. Beautiful fish.
How old are they and how big is the biggest one. Surprisingly they haven't shredded each other yet. 🤣
Biggest one (Mr. Perfect) is 14 inches. The guy I got them from said 2 years old. He kept them in a pond and they grew crazy fast. I think clean water helped with that.
@@marylandfishmadness Its amazing that they grew in a pond and are living peacefully in your tank. If you don't mind how long have you housed them together and also did all your fish come from that same pond. Thank u !
@@azamkhanAK50489 I got them in August. I can't confirm how many were together. Spotty was in a tank with his girl. My father gave me the big headed female
Amphking is another fellow hobbyist that grew a community of Midas along with other species of amphilophus in his 300-400 gallon tank, He had quite the collection. Only if someone from the hobby can come up with one precise number for how many gallons would be required to grow a dozen plus full adult size midas or any amphilophus species. Keep updating us my friend 👍
What's the difference with red devils??
Red devils have big lips (hence the name Labiatus), their body is also more narrow and their faces are less flat.
I’m trying to make a colony of Red Devils, any tips? I have. 200 gallon tank with an fx6 a sump and 2 emperor 450.
Establish the tank with siblings. Get like 10 siblings, then later add about 5 more
Thanks for answer my questions, sorry Thai see your post late. I have 17 Red Devils in a 200 gallon tank with 4 viejas. It is a work in progress. I don’t know if there are midas between them, because I catch the fishes from a lake here in Puerto Rico and the Red Devils is not a native species and they has grow out of control.
I catch at first 4 and after that I catch about 12 more. They seems to be fine, they eats a lot and are growing quickly and I like a lot my aquarium
@@acevedoaandres Ace please post a video of your tank, I'd love to check it out man
How long has you been keeping those fishes?
Had 9 of them since August. Got the other 2 in September.
You have to many fish you need a 185
Highly agreed. New video coming Saturday night
Love em. Must have
You have to Manny fish in that tank that's why you have water problems.
Do you have any for sale?
Hey Troy, no not at the moment. Unless you're in the DMV, I won't be meeting up.
G’day cool fish. Just wondering what size tank they in? and how many litters / gallons?
It's in the title
Nice!!!
Thanks Alina! I really don't want to add a 3rd filter. Reinforcements are coming, as far as another tank setup.
Surprised they haven't started taking each other out! I'm thinking the bare tank helps aggression, as there's no territory to be had.
Spot on OC! It's enough of them they don't really get to zero in on another fish. At times that doesn't stop the beefy female from bullying the rose queen looking one
Florida midevils?
LMAO!!!! FULL BLOWN MIDAS GOOD SIR!!
Your using flash to make the fish look cooler
