      so it all depends on what you want or need. If your looking for RGB i have a best of RGB fans on my channel. posted last weekend. If you dont want or RGB or on a budget I have 2 other best of's posted last weekend as well. But like any fan would work but if you want quiet or max performance whats recommended changes.

  • @Tichoz666
    @Tichoz666 Před 20 hodinami

    The light wings are the only good performing fans with a led ring light with a 140mm version, so they have basically no competition in that section. From other tests it seems that the 140mm version ( not the high speed one ) is way better than the 120mm, but they are old tests without the comparisons with the recent fans. I'm looking for a fan with this type of ARGB and the best one seems to be the Seasonic Magflow ARGB, but there is no 140mm, so I'm sad

      @@computer-tech-more I watched it, but the light wings version is the high speed one, which in theory is for radiators. Still, there are no good fans with similar rgb style with a 140mm version besides the light wings. If Thermalright or Seasonic make a 140mm version of their fans, then I would choose them since in their 120mm version are already better than the light wings

    Happy to see channels like this. There are a lot of good fans in the market, but sometimes is really difficult to find good reviews, especially for 140mm fans. I'm looking for a 140mm fan to use on the back of my case, but I don't know what to choose. From other tests, it seems that the best choices would be the P14 Max or the RS140 Max ( without considering the budget for the last one ). After seeing your reviews, now I'm curious about the Thermalright TL-B140 Extrem

    I discovered your channel a while ago, and I really appreciate the amount of data you have gathered and the thoroughness of your testing. I would however like to suggest a few improvements to the testing methodology if I may. For case airflow testing, the configurations that makes the most sense would be 3 in the front, 1 in the back (tested in an actual case of course), with a different case for 120mm fan testing and 140mm fan testing, respectively. The problem with testing fans blowing air through a cardboard cutout is that it tells us only how they perform in perfect conditions, but in real world operation, conditions are never perfect. Testing a single fan also doesn't show resonance issues that arise with many (if not most) non-LCP fans when 2+ are used. I'm quite sure that when testing this way, some of the cheaper "value" fans would fall off because they can't keep up the airflow, or they become noisier, so your overall rankings would look much different. In my humble opinion, benchmarks on an air cooler are somewhat pointless, because people who buy an air cooler rarely replace their fans, and if they do, well... it's not the smartest thing, because the fins are optimized for the stock fans, and it's also not the most cost-effective thing to do. I think testing fans on a 360 and 280 radiator makes the most sense for CPU cooler benchmarks. Having seen a lot of bad methodologies (elsewhere), I would also need to point out that fan tests (both as case fans and cooler fans) make sense only in a sealed case, not on an open bench or with the side panel off... I understand all the budget concerns of the channel, as I have been following it for a while. I am merely suggesting what I think would be ideal (at some point in the future). Please let me know if you think I am wrong here. You are the aerospace engineer after all.

In terms of air coolers though. You only notice meaningful differences mainly in noise with the fan in pull or in the middle. Thats where the fin stack tuning actually happens. A fan in front is a fan in front. I like my case sim test but I also want to add something similar to STS reviews case test and add a cone shaped one for the CFM test. I actually have a video on my channel about what I want my v3 to be. Ive since added or modified what my plans are slightly but overall similar.

    So, I purchased the Iceberg Thermal Icegale Xtra 120, Arctic P12 Max, and Cooler Master Mobius 120 OC High Performance. The Icebergs clearly blow more air & harder & further than both, and the Arctic - despite everyone's claims and tests stating how good performs - is clearly in last in terms of both air amount, air distance, and how hard it felt like the air was hitting my hand. The Arctic Max was actually shockingly weak and disappointing. Out of those 3, the Iceberg is the only one that actually felt like it was at or close to the Phanteks T30. The way the air shot out was massively different. When mounted to my Cooler Master HAF 932's side-panel (pull, intake), the Iceberg felt like the air shot from the top of the blade's face upwards at around a 30-45 degree angle and from the bottom of the blade's face downwards at a 30-45 degree angle while the Phanteks felt more like a laser beam shooting forward straight out of the blade's face. This didn't bother me at all since it's for case cooling and the spread is nice, plus, the side panel uses 4x 120 mm so tons of air going everywhere. I was totally fine with the maximum speed noise of all the fans and was ready to keep the Iceberg's since they were the only 3000-ish RPM, high CFM, high pressure fan in around the same league as the Phanteks T30 while still being only 25 mm......until I mounted them to my side panel. Unfortunately, when mounted to the side panel, the Icebergs make an insanely loud, high pitched squealing scream from around 1200 or 1500 RPM or so until max RPM. All the tested fans introduce a new, constant whine/scream noise when mounted to the side panel that usually starts at around the 1300-1500 RPM range but this newly introduced noise - while being a different sounding tone with each fan - is much, much louder and higher pitched with the Icegale than any of the other fans. It actually sort of reminds me of the sound of like delta industrial fans or something (when at the higher RPMs). Again, the sound did NOT occur when the Icegale - or any of the fans - are just held in my hand. The Icegale was perfectly fine then and bloody amazing. It was only when it was mounted to the panel. The Cooler Master also had a sound issue. The Cooler Master was the only fan where that newly introduced panel-noise never went away. Even at 1000 RPM, 800 RPM, 600 RPM, etc. the noise - while obviously going down in pitch and volume the lower the RPM - was always clearly audible...and, trust me, I'm one of the least picky persons around when it comes to PC fan noise. The Arctics - like the Phanteks - do not have either of the 2 panel-noise issues. They both have the panel noise - which I'm assuming most fans would have - but not either of the 2 particular issues described above. So, the Icegale is being returned because of the panel-noise issue, the Cooler Master is being returned because it's performance doesn't come close to the Icegale but while also being 27 mm instead of 25 mm thick and because of the panel-noise issue, and the Arctic is being returned because it's performance is incredibly poor compared to the Icegale and is even noticeably behind the Cooler Master. The final 3000-ish RPM, 25-ish mm fan I'll try is the Silent Wings Pro 4. If it's performance disappoints me like the Cooler Master and especially the Arctic, then I'll just say "screw it" and get Phanteks T30s but I really wanted 25 mm for the side-panel. I don't see a point in trying the awesome Lian Li P28 fans because, at 28 mm thick and their price, I might as well just go Phanteks T30.

    • @computer-tech-more
      @computer-tech-more Před 18 dny

      You could also try the SuperFlower MegaCool 120. it tested the best 3000RPM + Fan. So all 3000RPM fans are loud. so the question is, is the sound they product tolerable. They might be resonating to some extent with the panel. An option to try would be a foam or rubber or cork spacer between the fan and the panel. Add extra resistance to vibration transition.

    • @Spinelli__
      @Spinelli__ Před 18 dny

      @@computer-tech-more It's not due to vibration. The sound happens as soon as I put the fans very close to the panel even if I'm still holding the fans with my hand and not touching the panel. The SuperFlower is also 30 mm so, if the other 25-ish mm, 3000 RPM fans don't work to my liking - I think I only have the Silent Wings Pro 4 remaining to test - then I'll just get T30s. The Icegales would have been perfect due to their performance and thinness (25 mm). All the fans make the panel-induced noise at around 1500 RPM to max (except the Cooler Master which always makes the panel-induced noise, even at like 600, 800, etc. RPM), the difference being the panel-induced noise with the Icegales is an insanely loud, high-pitched scream that reminds me of, like, industrial delta fans or something.

    Appreciate all the graphs! we can actually see the difference in terms of cfm and noise levels and cost effectiveness between brands. But ultimately i think people wanna see how much is the difference in terms of “temperature” of the system mainly cpu and gpu. Because at the end, that the main purpose of case fans, which is to cool your pc. Anyways still grateful for your effort, you earned yourself a sub !

      I actually want to add temp testing but I dont have the spare $$ to just go and build a test system. I would actually need like 2 to 3 systems. 1 air cooler, 1 Rad, and one for pc case simulation. I am a small , very small channel. I dont have "revenue" like larger ones. So I have to fit in my channels limitations. I have a planned v3 of my testing method and I'm just waiting to reach the point I've "made?" enough from ads and patron and youtube membership to buy all the equipment. to then overhaul the testing. I have a piece on my channel about what tests i want for v3 of my method. Overall I am pretty happy with what and how ive tested with the limitations. :) Thank you for the sub. 14:50 this is because the Tornado fans were created to generate high static pressure instead of high CFM. If you could do some testing through a few radiators (low and high density fins) and add static pressure to your testing, I think you would have a more comprehensive idea of what each fan is doing as far as moving air. I liked ur vid tho gj

      I have a rad now but it arrived after these fans were tested. From testing so far. air speed thru the Rad and my U12A cooler are equivalent. Now max static pressure testing isnt really what I am going for. like making a windtunnel or building an air pump / pulling air thru a tube. I have a V3 of my testing method in mind and it includes a lot more types of tests as well as adding Temps to the cooler testing.
