Never have the light on in your tent, put the light outside and get used to low light diffusing in. Get a remote control battery light. Sometimes turn it on if you hear something from the safety of your tent.

Gloves, always carry gloves. You may not use them but carry them anyway.

Also carry a good solid stick.

Also carry a cheap motion detection solar light. There are some very bright ones.
