Most people use it as a modal draw spell. But it sometimes works out that you need to counter a spell. Nearly never will it make a copy. But it's modality makes it hands down better than make disappear especially because that blue white counter is in standard. And is also better than make disappear.

for spirits, try katilda. she grows with your stuff has lifelink and protection from vampires. also tishinas tidebinder and containment priest exist so for spirits its actually fine. and dont forget, if you have wandering emperor on hand and a creature to spare you can also remove it.

Is containment priest legal in the format you are playing? If it is, it would answer the vein ripper

I like the versatility of it. I specifically have been looking into a reanimate graveyard deck because 1) a counter spell is always nice, 2) a card draw with selective discard pairs well with this deck, and 3) a token of a beefy boy is never a bad thing to have. If I have the mana do them all. if I have limited mana, do what I need.

It can outright kill an opponent for playing a brainstorm. Everyone has to think twice about casting brainstorm when the opponent has a black and generic mana open. In Legacy. It's a good card.

Yeah, there might be a new boom coming just like with chess a few years back. My guess is Hasbro shat their pants so bad, looking at their quarterly numbers, they decided to throw huge amounts of money at influencers to promote buying way overpriced displays with the most egregious misprints so far, because this sudden growth in interest really doesn't feel organic.

No chance. MtG will go through surges of increased wider attention being given to it, and the accompanying surge of initial engagement with Precons and the like. Unfortunately, nothing has changed to reduce the financial entry-barrier to move beyond initial and into serious Constructed engagement with any format, except maybe Pauper. With things presently being so rough in general money-wise for so many? There’s no good reason grounded in fact to believe these trends are going to change anytime soon.

I think it's a combination of a good new set with Outlaws and MH3 and the backlash about Yu-Gi-Oh's situation that has returned MTG back into favour

Charlie is just a clout chaser who ran out of content and has too much money.

I think this is what the game needs, with such a small demographic the universes beyond sets will kill the game, I think that brining in a mass of new players is incredibly important

Only one side is played. Pathways are great for 2 color decks. They get you the mana you need at that point but you can still use bounce lands and such or flip effects if you need that other side. Basically an MDFC... Modal(choose) dual Faced(front and back) Card.

I think Charlie’s influence is a great thing, but it’s too little too late. Magic is actively killing itself with lame sets like Murders at Karlov Manor and overpowered, game-rending sets like Modern Horizons 3. It’s cool to see a new person as big as Charlie in the space and I’d love to play a game with him, but when the advertising is “this card is insane” you know it’s too far gone

At a casual limited event, your fix is perfect. At competitive or professional REL, it should be a game loss, but for the sake of feels-bads, exactly how you two handled it is what should happen

Not too involved in magic but i judge yugioh (The ruling here could be applied to yugioh too) The way you both did it is absolutely fine in my opinion, if a judge was called, and best to be called by the player who made the error, it would only be a warning. Nothing major and given the context of this short it was a very genuine mistake. No lasting effect would be on record. All in all very good sportsmanship by both, we are all human!

Shuffling the cards into his deck is literally the correct fix. Should call a judge so that everything is clear, but that is the fix at regular rel.

no shame in calling for a judge, most of these types of errors just result in a warning or a game loss.

Tbh it really depends on who im playing against. I would handle it same way like you did. But former experience with certain players will make me up tight with the rules whilst playing them

Had that same situation but with my hand from the previous rund and shuffled it in aswell. OP and I called a Judge afterwards and I got a warning and we continued withe the shuffeld deck. So after that I call a Judge for every rules problem.

I would've allowed it, but also still have asked a judge for future reference since my friends and I have done draft at home as well

Going friendly / casual tournament I think that's fine. Pretty sure I've been on both sides of this situation at some point. Anything approaching competitive it's a good idea to have it fixed officially.

Vadmir New blood is very similiar to blood hustler and I have seen him in golgari and rakdos mid range decks Pretty cool, and its nice to have more vampires for the upcoming rotation

The gentleman thing to do is to just shuffle them in and move on. If there are actual stakes on the line I'd adhere to the rules to be safe. Alot of people will plead ignorance of rules to get a by or outright win. Good on you but keep an eye out!
