I have to say - if I pick up a book in a series, I want to try the 1st one ... I recently purchased a bunch of the Tasha Alexander Lady Emily Series at a library sale - there are like 17 in it to date. A Fatal Waltz is #3 and the one you own, A Terrible Beauty is #11. Haven't started it yet - to be able to tell you if it's a series that they recommend is read in order. Enjoy all the great books you picked up!!
@@JacquelineCaron thank you! Yes. I know it is quite a long series. I’m guess it will be similar-ish to the Lady Darby series. Those can be read out of order, but you do lose a bit of the plot with her relationship. Oh well, I will blissfully dive into book 3 and let you know how it goes. You aren’t alone. I know most readers probably prefer to start a series with book 1. 😊 Happy reading!
I too am terrible with reading books in order of the series! I just pick up any that takes my fancy and read😄 Thank you for the brilliant recommendation as always xxx
Lol! I am so glad that I'm not alone in my mixed up series reading. Sometimes it just seems like the right book... even if it's number 5 in the series. Thanks for hanging out with me. :)
@@janeaustenliteracyfoundation I now reserved A Fatal Waltz and And Only to Deceive by Tasha Alexander at my local library! Thank you 😊
@@Bearcub599 looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it. Happy reading!
On the Cliffs of Foxglove Manor looks the most interesting of the lot to me and I have never been to Michigan. It kind of sounds like a haunted house story.
I am very excited to read that one. It does sound very much like a haunted house story, doesn't it. Michigan is such a pretty state. We have lots of lakes, trees, and nature. Thank you for stopping by the hang out with me. :)
This is lovely 🥰 Ultimate armchair coastal holiday!
@@Bearcub599 glad you enjoyed it!
So lovely 😊 Thank you!
Glad you like it! Thank you for watching :)
I'm looking forward to Maria as well! And I have some of Poppy Alexander's Christmas books to get through a little later on in the year. 🙂
@@michaelmccarty sounds like you have some great reading ahead! 📖
Lovely heartwarming recommendations so appropriate for autumn 🍂 reading! Thank you 😊
Thank you so much for watching! What's on your autumn reading list?
@@janeaustenliteracyfoundation I have so many book to read! But I’m hoping to start on “Star that Always Stays “, Fear Stalks the Village” by Ethel Lina White, “Susan Settles Down” by Molly Clavering and “Small Bomb at Dimperly” by Lissa Evans (when it comes out). And of course your recommendations too to add to the list 😀😆😊
@@Bearcub599 you have some amazing reading ahead of you! 📖❤️
Sorry but since you asked, practically all of my reading is back-listed, if not completely out of print. Sorry I would not be a good candidate for net galley reviews ... :-(
@@JosephFrancisBurton back-listed is great too! I’m sure curious as to what other readers are enjoying.
another wonder recommendation video -- thank you!! I need to add Mrs Poe to my list - so many of the others here I do have already ~ not read yet! 🙃 I'm currently reading one I can see on your shelf behind you - The Librarian of Burned Books. Enjoying it so far. thank you!!
We must be reading kindred spirits! I really hope you enjoy Mrs Poe. It's a odd story, to be sure, but it puts me in the fall mood. Happy reading!
I really enjoyed The Air Raid Book Club by Annie Lyons that you recently recommended in another video. Thanks!
That makes me so happy to hear! Thanks for hanging out with me. Happy reading!
"My Recollections of Lord Byron" by Countess Guiccoli.
Sounds like a great start to the morning!
"A Matter of Class" is one of my favorite Balogh stories. Good choice.
Ah! It's so good! Do you have any other Balogh favorites? I really love "The Secret Pearl" as well.
love the recommendations! I've added 'After Anne' to my list. I had recently picked up 'The Arctic Fury', looking forward to reading this one. I am such a seasonal, mood reader... 😊
@@JacquelineCaron the same for me! That’s why I love living where the season change… even if I don’t love them all equally. Lol. I hope you enjoy After Anne. I am really excited for the community bookclub to read it and hear everyone’s thoughts.
I recently started 'The Librarian of Burned Books'! enjoying it so far, as I do most WWII books. I had to laugh - as I have all these books you spoke about on my shelves. I would recommend to readers ( especially those that love books about books ) Stephanie Brutland's - 'Found in a Bookshop' and 'Lost for Words Bookshop'. Thoroughly enjoyed these and the book recommendations thru out the story. Happy Reading!!
also -- 'The Mayfair Bookshop' was a very good read as well!
@@JacquelineCaron thank you for watching! We must have very similar taste in reading. Kindred Spirits ❤️
@@JacquelineCaron I will check it out!
First of all, your hair looks amazing! and is that a Monet print blouse?! I love it. I absolutely LOVE the Book Woman of Troublesome Creek! The sequel is also really good.
@@jamiedianne6778 thank you! That’s the reason I thrifted this blouse! It reminded me of Monet. 😍 Now I’m even more excited to read TBWofTC. Thanks for stopping in. Happy reading!
I didn't know there was a sequel. I've placed a hold a the library. Thanks!
@@prairierose1115 yay! I love when we find 📖 recommendations.
Really enjoyed the recommendations! I have read “The book woman of troublesome creek” awhile ago. It was an interesting engrossing read, some similarities to “The giver of Stars” by Jo Jo Moyes which I also enjoyed reading. I have also recently read “The Air Raid Book Club”, by Annie Lyons set in London 1938 about a bookseller struggling to keep open a bookshop amidst the war, bereavement etc. It was a lovely charming story. Thank you 😊 (by the way love your beautiful top!❤🩷💚🌼)
That sounds like a fascinating read! I'll look up The Air Raid Book Club. Thank you for taking the time to watch, and for the compliment. ☺️
Exciting choices!
Love all the book club picks. I can’t wait to read “After Anne.” Surprisingly, I already have a copy of “The Letter Tree,” I’m thinking that you must have mentioned it in a June or July segment (lol), but I can’t wait to read it September.
Yes! I did mention it earlier in the year. So looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it and After Anne.
There are definitely some fantastic books that "leave an imprint on the soul". Sometimes it's a comfort and sometimes a reminder that I've moved forward in life. Thankyou for sharing your literary journey 🙂

@@Bearcub599 that’s what we love!
Lovely 😊
Thank you for the recommendations. Will definitely check them out 😊
You are most welcome! Do you have any favorite books to reread?
@@janeaustenliteracyfoundation Yes I have a few, but there’s so many books waiting for me to read, I don’t get to reread my all time favourite books as much as I would like to! Some of them are Pride and Prejudice (of course 😊), Far from the Maddening Crowd, To kill a Mockingbird, Anne of Green Gables, The Enchanted April, I know Why the Caged Bird Sings and so on…
@@Bearcub599 I know the problem! Those are all amazing rereads.
Thank you, I will look into some of these.
Hope you enjoy!
Are you familiar with Hamerston Hall by Jane Eastbourne?
I am not! I will look it up.
I've never heard about these books, so thank you for recommendations.
Awesome! I happy to help you discover some new reads. :)
Library book sales are the best! You can score some incredible gems at amazing prices. Looks like you did just that! I read 'Water For Elephants' and loved it! It's one of my favourite books and it will always have a place on my bookshelf. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
Oooo! Now I'm even more excited to read it! I wouldn't have the home library that I do if it wasn't for library sales. What's been your best find?
@@janeaustenliteracyfoundation At my age, much too many to mention! 😃 I love a good find. Just about every week, I visit a thrift shop and almost always run across an amazing deal. I enjoyed your video and thank you for sharing. Historical fiction is one of my favourite genres.
@@ReadingThroughLife I’m so happy you enjoyed it! I love his fic too. I love the thrill of not knowing what hidden gem you might find when you are used book shopping. ❤️📖
Thanks for the recommendations!
Are there any books that stood out to you that you might add to your tbr? Thank you for watching!
@@janeaustenliteracyfoundation I wrote them all down except Longbourn which I didn’t care for either, and The Other Bennett sister which I loved. The Longbourn Letters is probably the first one I’ll buy.
Oh you're so lucky. I love the 90s movie so funny and witty 😊
You found some really good books here! I wish the library sales around me had bargain prices like that! I love that you picked up 2 copies of the 'Personal Librarian' - 1 for your LFL! I've done that often when I've purchased a book I find I have when I get home.😮 I tend to find many of my used books on e-bay or thriftbooks, if I'm looking for something particular, as well as a local used bookshop chain around my state. I need to find the other Lucy Worsley books - I found 'The Austen Girls' in a LFL recently. I want to find 'Lady Mary' and 'Queen Victoria'. Syrie James -- 💞💞 'Dracula, My Love' is the one you were thinking of... I purchased it when I picked up the others. I LOVED 'The Lost Memoirs of Jane Austen'. enjoy growing your HF shelf!
Thank you for watching! Dracula, My Love is great. She also has a book called Nocturne. It’s very unique in that is only has two characters in the story. I do travel about 3 hours back home to Michigan to do my library shopping. There are so many great places to find used books. Glad I’m not the only one to grab multiple copies. 😊
I love library book sales. My local library sells donated books for the cost of $1 for paperbacks and $2 for hardbacks. On the final day of the sale they then charge $5 per as many books that can fill a bag. Generally, I buy the best books for my family and friends on day one of the sale and then come back on the final day to purchase books per bag for my little free libraries that I steward. My local library usually has three huge rooms filled with books to sell four times a year. The large conference room is adult books on every genre and topic possible. The second room is children books while the outer lobby is media (DVDs, vinyl records, magazines). I have even found rare first editions. Generally, I pick up so many books on the final day that I am often loaned a library cart to wheel them and load into my car. My husband’s best friend has been a regular patron at his local library and every Tuesday he obtains discarded books for free. These books are definitely older from the 60s -80s, a few out of print but many are classics in perfect condition. He often provides me with 4-6 boxes of books a month for my little libraries, so I am pretty lucky. In fact, I got a Pride and Prejudice from his last lot that I then gave out for my Jane Austin Literacy Tea Brunch. Bottom line - library book sales are really a great place to build up one’s own library.❤❤❤
Yes! The bag sales are amazing! Finding an Austen book in the stack is always a bonus. I feel the same with my little free library. I'm just moving the books around until the right reader find them. :)
What a great Library Sale haul!! Secrets of a Charmed Life was such a good read - I really enjoy that author. I really like Jodi Picoult's older books, not many readers do, but I remember like the Songs of the Humpback Whale ( and the Plain Truth ). Last year I had been to a Kristin Hannah book event speaking about The Four Winds - but there was much discussion around The Great Alone as well - she tells such a great story. Kate Morton is another favorite author.. 😊
Reader problems... Not remember what books you have. lol. I think I just acquired a Kate Morton book in one of my last hauls. Stay tuned. I should have a new haul coming in the next week!
I had bought that children's book of Jane Austen, could not resist! Thanks for sharing, I will be looking for some of Kim Wilson's books.
You can't go wrong with any of Kim's books!
I love the time to read ambiance videos! thank you for posting them!
I am so happy you are enjoying them!
love seeing what others take out from their libraries - I almost always find some that interest me and get added to my growing list of TBRs. 😊
Yay! I am the same I love to see what others are checking out. Did anything in this video end up on your list?
@@janeaustenliteracyfoundation of course!! Light Changes Everything and The Banned Bookshop of Maggie Banks ; I've never heard of either of these. I was laughing while you were going thru your stack - as I have almost all of them on my shelves! Have you read any of Syrie James books? I recently read The Lost Memoir of Jane Austen and really enjoyed it and have added her other works to my list. Glad I've found your channel! ☺
