the guy who did my floor completely fucked it up, so now I'm in more of a how do I fix this, not how do I prevent this situation.

When CZcams offered this video and I saw the picture my mind went strait to high school biology and I thought twice about watching, which may explain why there are few views. I'm just saying. The topic is very interesting to me as I'm restoring an old boat I've had for 30 years and I've been really digging into this subject. Lately I learned that kiln dried wood is much more difficult to steam bend. Everyone and their uncle tells me I cannot put fiberglass on a wooden boat. I'm not sure they are right. My boat is a 59 but doesn't have normal planks. Instead, it has 3/16" red cedar and 7/32" white oak sandwiched together by some kind of vulcanized something. So its more like veneers, which, I am told can be fiberglassed. The transom is plywood doubled where the motor goes but oak where the motor isn't. I cannot figure out if I can fiberglass the oak to the transom plywood or the transom to the cedar oak sandwich. I read an article last week about calculating the amount of movement wood changes by moisture content and I think that is my next step. I was looking for that when I found your video. I did learn something here so eventually, I hope, I'll figure it out through shear will.

Have a question - Looking for some kind of solution to visually hide the 6" to 8" wear and tear on a home concrete floor where the "cream" has been worn off. What can I do to hide this? - Thanks in advance -

My floor had water from leaking fridge for a few days while on vacation. The cupping is slight, hard to see, but noticeable when barefoot on it. Hoping it returns to normal over the next few days 😬😬😬

At what stage of time or moisture content, the wood begins to shrink?

What is the highest range of moisture content in wood? Is it go beyond 100%?

Instead of teaching people how to read important instruments, and thereby avoiding sending out wood that may be outside of tolerances, we let the people who have received the wood expecting to do a job while paying people hourly regardless to then check them and try to send them back to us for a fee probably if any of it needs to be replaced. Lol what 😂

Sir, how I like your channel! We have a carpenter in Brazil whose channel makes me think a lot of yours. His name is Juninho Carpinteiro. Our roofs here are made out of hardwood, with big ceramic tiles. I've heard they were originally developed by the Arabs, who did not have a lot of wood, and then the Portuguese and Spanish further developed the techniques and design. Anyone who is curious about the language, in case the automatic translation is confusing, please ask. I am not in the business, I am more familiar with woodworking, but I love everything about technologies people take for granted. Oh, and your poetic approach is the cherry on top, that's what our Juninho have in common besides the carpentry.

Yeah, I think we've all been there. It makes sense to do your homework first but there's also something to be said for experimenting and learning through trial and error. You'll never forget afterwards.

Yes sir, and as tight as we build houses these days, if water gets in, it stays in. Houses don't let air drying like they used too. Not that it's a bad thing, just important to remember.. Great content as always...

My hardwood floor has a hill in it. There is no moisture anywhere, not even the subfloor. What the hell is happening?! We cannot find anything that would cause it 😭😭
