I think the new motor needs M3 screws, if you don't have any handy you can get a starter kit of spare screws from Amazon (or Jenny's for the larger scale RC's)

@@ringo101079 yeah I don't get the gatekeeping some do, it makes no sense. I haven't used my temp gun so I don't have an exact to number give you but it doesn't get warm/hot unless I'm pushing it on 3s. Even then it's still within the limits. Off road may run a little warmer, I will be doing some more videos soon hopefully

@@ringo101079 either 8mm or 10mm, best to check depth in the motor to make sure they don't go too deep

I go over it in more details in my other videos but XERun 2848 4600kv + 10BL60 ESC . Perfect bashing 2S and speedrun 3S setup, and will outrun a lot of other 3S setups on just 2S.

Thanks for the tip! That is kind of the same conclusion I was coming to. I'd like to stick with stock tires for now but going to play with diff and suspension to see what can be improved

I have seen a few fit (or working on fitting) the Castle Micro X2 into these. That can also do 4S! I can't even get full throttle on 3S with this setup though so maybe with a tamer motor. With a few upgrades these are really great.

@@Killer_of_RCs Man, I am so out of the loop in rc, I thought the Tekin mini rage was the top dawg. I have 3 of thes esc, apparently they are rare, I had a few castle setups in mini t pros back in 2004. Castle makes great stuff.

Yeah this setup is really meant for 2S, 3S is just for speedruns because it is too much. I would get a nice 2838 or 2845 size motor, 3500-4000kv. Should get you 40-45mph on the stock pinion on 3S. Still recommend the 10BL60 over the 16BL30. Definitely don't try the no-name ESC combos from Amazon. They are all junk.

This is the new XERun 4600kv sensored motor. With the adjusted timing it behaves more like a ~5600kv motor up top. A normal unsensored 4600kv motor with the same pinion would probably be around ~43mph on 2S

Yes, I made some radio adjustments and it has helped. Working on some other fixes as well, should be back and hopefully hitting 70+ soon!

Out of the box the only thing it needs to make it reliable would be the diffs. Hardly $300. I don't know any RC that you can literally triple the power and not expect to break things. Once you want to go that fast, of course you need more upgrades to keep it reliable, and that is going to cost money. Show me on the doll where HH hurt you

@@Killer_of_RCs yeah right a crappy brushed system suitable for a 12 year old kid. You may be on that level. I am not. My Grom has sat on the shelf for months because HH hobby has everything on backorder. How about HH putting out a truck that already has all the upgrades. Oh wait Then you wouldn't be able to continue to line there pockets with money. HH hobby sucks . There costumer service is horrible and there website is horrible as well. Diffs on the Grom junk driveshafts junk shocks junk tires junk Bell crank junk. Brushed system junk. Do the math after all those upgrade replacements around 300$ .

As you write that, diffs are in stock now (again) and I've had no problem getting 4 sets. Just have to pay attention. They obviously either underestimated demand or overestimated the stock diff strength. Maybe they'll learn from it or maybe they won't. Either way I'll be enjoying my Groms and other Arrmas.

How about the shocks and the upgraded axles ? Stick up for HH all you want. They suck to me.

Should, but that is a pretty high kv motor. I know some people have used them in the regular granite. Not sure how stout the combo ESC is in that

​@@benwilson2420 it's an RF6G radiolink receiver, has it built in. You can also get a standalone one that goes between the servo and receiver but that is more wiring and space needed

Not needed but definitely helps, especially with the small scale stuff like the Grom. I'm really close to 70, will be posting another video when I crack it!

@@Killer_of_RCs I am fairly new to rc, and the grom is my first small car. I didn't see or hear you say where the gyro is and what kind you used? is it seperate from the rest or part of the esc? I like the gyro on speed runs.

@@MrGonzoify so normally the gyro is built into your receiver, but you can get them separately. However with the space constraints, it makes sense to get it all in one unit. An example would be a Spektrum sr6100a paired with a dx3/dx5c/dx6c radio. Or in my Typhon I am using a radiolink rf6g paired with the RC6GS radio.

Would have to go in front of the motor/heatsink on that center stack. It is possible but then it messes with battery clearance and battery install/removal as it is overhanging or blocking (for tall batteries) the tray.

That may be an option, but it's not a standard body post since it is a clipless body. If you had a plastic rod you could probably just make it work with a dremel or file and then just space up the rear with some washers.

Yes I had to on my 6S Typhon as well! Same idea just different implementation

That is the Arrma mount set. I forget which letter mount it was but they don't come individually anyway they come as the set for like $10. Since this is 21T it was the 21/59 mount I used.

@@jasongebhardt9194 em, 540 cans in 1/18? no, never. not even in 1/16. the only 1/16 that used 540 was Traxxas E-Revo mini. And it was way overpriced and expensive. I ran Duratrax all the way and 540 was 1/10 only. And it was really not about luck, It was always about the money. If you could afford 1/10 - you got 540 can or even 550. somehow ppl still run brushed motors in 2024. like 10 years ago I thought brushed are going to be totally extinct by 2020.

Yes, 3S is just for speed runs and bragging rights. It will be on 2S most of the time. Or 3S with a throttle limit

Which part? The car itself is $139.99, they are taking pre-orders now and supposed to start shipping next week. Motor was ~$60 and ESC was $38. You will want to get the upgraded diffs are well, they are usually $40 for the pair.
