WOW - it's 2.39 am and somehow Kate Bush & Peter Gabriel duet brought me here. I thought he was only just random guy singing Pink Floyd track. But my oh my after googling out a bit about him. Damn where have I been for these 50 less years..
Roy is pure excellence
Roy Harper .what a living legend ❤
❤
Love this song so much... ever since I first heard it on the David Gilmour album over 10 years ago ❤😊
same !!!
Writes Forbidden Fruit and manages to dodge full court examinations for 5 out of 7 of his sexual abuse charges, but has the gall to talk about morality.
I love this deeply, but there is darkness in this that makes me uncomfortable
It's supposed to.
I thought this seriously sounded like the beginning of a pink floyd song, and then found out why.
But it was written by Roy Harper, of course.
"A graveyard with bus stops" what a thinker 🐵🐒
This was a Harper/Gilmour collaboration? Sounds like pure Harper to me - from a writing point of view. Anyone have the definitive answer.
The writing credit is for both (Gilmour--Harper) on Gilmour's self-titled solo album and on Harper's "Unknown Soldier".
Weird seeing him without a beard or mustache. Great!
Hugely underrated Musician
Thanks for posting this. The live version with Gilmour is really great and this, though different, is just as much.
Takes me back to the early 70’s when I saw him in Bristol at Colston Hall, brilliant 🤩
Long live Roy
☮️❤️🎼
Sincerely - This Man it's Echo of the whole Orchestra!!! Fantastic! Thanks!
I can hear a bit of Gilmore here
They are friends for a long time and did this song (written by Roy) on stage together.

Roy Harper sings have a ciggar on wish you were here
Mind BLOWING !!
in a genuinely civilised world we would be grieving the deaths of those whose deaths were sanctioned by "the queen"..
Wonderful cover from a great man. Dave would like it
The song (the words of course, too) was written by Roy Harper. When you check it out, you will know.

phantastic phaser-effects, or maybe flanger. anyway, very unique
Sounds like a flanger yes, a mix of phaser/chorus
What a lovely version . Thanks for putting it up ✌️
I see a lot of the influence he had on his son, Nick, here.
Totally classic album(once). Awesome lyrical masterpiece.. From the first note to the last word..
what a genius, not enough people are aware of Harper these days, well here in OZ anyway...a legend
I was at this gig. The day Margaret Thatcher resigned.
Me too mate.... a memorable night thIs was, it was also bloody cold in the theatre!
Roy is the closest I've ever been to a godlike figure.
Roy: "I've prided myself all my life in being an immoral man, insofar as I can see the horrible spectre of the moral nightmare that we could be part of... that we are part of." Wendy's cashier: "So... do you want fries with that?"
By god, this is is Roy's song and he fucking owns it here. Simply brilliant.
yes.. the dogs bollox..
Hat's off Roy.
Considering the tragic subject matter it is wholly unrealistic to have been a smash hit in the USA pre Trump where anything went.
This tour was the last time I saw him, Bolton Albert Halls (Town Hall), in a rather formal setting. There were attendant seat usher ladies, plush velvet velour seats, drinks ordered for the interval etc. etc. Half way through a mesmerising set, with a sound far greater than any one man rock n roll band, a lucky front row punter passed him a fat one, Roy duly accepted and announced there was a far more important planning committee going on next door. We all knew different as he shifted into a rendition of Berliners that shook the Peregrines off the Town Hall clock.
What year was it?
yeeha great ending x
A fabulous song by a fabulous singer songwriter!!
No one has mentioned the guitar sound which is sublime..I saw Roy touring this album in ‘83 and a few more times in the 80s and he was normally playing an Adamus - or rather one of two, he had one in normal tuning and one in open D - however this is not one of those..
Pure magic, Roy is one with his guitar, true communion.
You got ir man. What times that that we are all living in-20 2effing3.
Great song stıll in 2019
'with sharp tongs and no doubt'...a man of mortal folly....such majestic terminolgy tho.?.maybe ,perhaps....a most but haunting and morphic piece of maestroic brillane, wit but toothpik and empty chamber hall equpied-the man is a flamin' god....so help me bjesus
Seen him recently in Edinburgh, he's still got it!!
Nick played Penzance Friday. Highlight of the year, apart, of course, from Brexit.
